The castle core was oval with dimensions of about 45x17m and at both ends stood prismatic towers. The west tower had dimensions of 4.3x4.1 m on the ground floor with walls about 2 m thick and compared to the east tower is partially turned. Both towers were probably inhabited. Although the perimeter wall no longer exists, the foundation walls probably contain a transverse terrain step on a platform between the towers, which may indicate further unspecified buildings. However, nothing indicates the occurrence of a possible multi-space palace.Approximately 8m below the core platform, it is surrounded by an artificially modified terrace - about a trace of a ring closer to the invisible fortification, and another 8m lower is the second fortification ring, which extends significantly to a smaller fort in the east, protected by a moat. In front of it is another part surrounded by a rampart and a moat. In the past, wooden bridges led through the ditches. Only minimal above-ground remains have been preserved, mostly the lower parts of the towers discovered by detectors.

Hradné jadro bolo oválne s rozmermi okolo 45x17m a na oboch koncoch stáli hranolové veže. Západná veža mala na prízemí rozmery 4,3x4,1m s múrmi hrubými asi 2m a oproti východnej veži je čiastočne natočená. Obe veže boli zrejme aj obývané. Hoci obvodová hradba už neexistuje, základové múry zrejme obsahujú priečny terénny schod na plošine medzi vežami, čo môže svedčiť o ďalšej bližšie neurčenej zástavbe. Nič však nenaznačuje výskyt prípadného viacpriestorového paláca.Zhruba 8m pod plošinou jadra ho obtáča umelo upravená terasa - asi stopa po prstenci bližšie nezmámeho opevnenia, a o ďalších 8m nižšie je druhý fortifikačný prstenec, ktorý sa na východe výrazne rozširuje do menšieho predhradia, ktoré chráni priekopa. Pred ňou je ešte ďalší diel obohnaný valom a priekopou. Cez priekopy viedli v minulosti drevené mosty. Zachovali sa len minimálne nadzemné zvyšky, väčšinou detektoristami odkryté spodné partie veží.

No written mention of the Kuchyňa Castle has been preserved, nor is its name known, so it was named after the nearby village of Kuchyňa. The character and arrangement of the buildings do not call into question that it was a castle. Its origin is presumed after the release of the property of the Záhorské royal dominion at the beginning of the 14th century after the extinction of the Arpád family. The found pottery, the remains of which are in the museum in Skalica, confirms the existence of the castle in the period from the 14th to the first half of the 16th century. The rise of the fortifications is a response to the threat of fighting in the 15th century. At the beginning of the 13th century, the Kuchyňa was owned by richer nobles - descendants of the Nitra county Tomáš, who divided the acquired estate into Pezinok and St. George. At the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, the two estates merged. The construction of the castle is attributed to the Count of St. George and Pezinok. After the extinction of the Counts of Pezinok-St. George in 1543, their property passed with 10 castles under the royal crown - but nowhere is the castle in the Kuchyňa mentioned. The castle was most probably built on the property of the counts of Pezinok and was abandoned after their extinction, because the area passed under the dominion of the Plavecký Castle.

O Kuchynskom hrade sa nezachovala žiadna písomná zmienka, nie je známy ani jeho názov, preto bol pomenovaný podľa blízkej obce Kuchyňa. Charakter a usporiadanie objektov nespochybňujú, že sa jednalo o hrad. Jeho vznik sa predpokladá po uvoľnení majetkov záhorského kráľovského domínia počiatkom 14.storočia po vymretí Arpádovcov. Nájdená keramika, ktorej zvyšky sú v múzeu v Skalici, potvrdzuje existenciu hradu v období od 14. do prvej polovice 16.storočia. Vznik predsunutého opevnenia je reakciou na ohrozenie bojmi v 15. storočí. Začiatkom 13.storočia majú Kuchyňu v držbe bohatší šľachtici - potomkovia nitrianskeho župana Tomáša, ktorí si získané panstvo rozdelili na pezinské a svätojurské. Na prelome 13. a 14.storočia sa obe panstvá spojili. Stavba hradu sa pripisuje práve grófom zo Sv. Jura a Pezinka. Po vymretí pezinsko-svätojurských grófov v roku 1543 prešiel ich majetok aj s 10 hradmi pod kráľovskú korunu - nikde sa však nespomína hrad v Kuchyni. Hrad teda najpravdepodobnejšie vznikol na majetku pezinských grófov a po ich vymretí bol opustený, pretože územie prešlo pod panstvo Plaveckého hradu.

Povráva sa Jedného dňa, v čase vojen, sa pri Kuchyni zjavili Turci. Bolo ich, akoby sa máčne pole vysemenilo. Drancovali chudobné roličky, pustošili zelené háje a násilenstvami súžili ľudí. Tým zostával nádejou už len hrad. Bránili ho dvaja junáci. No streľba z hradu časom tíchla, až zmĺkla úplne. Obrancom sa minuli zásoby streliva. Turci podišli bližšie k hradu. Vtedy Jano, zúfalý od bezmocnosti, odtrhol z čižmy železnú podkovičku, vložil ju do praku a najprednejší z Turkov, zaliaty krvou, spadol z koňa. Stŕpli Turci nad účinkom nevídanej strely! Nečakali, až do nich začnú znovu biť. Zvrtli sa a ani na sto koňoch by ich nedohonil.
