The older mansion was probably built on the site of a water castle or manor and has a U-shaped floor plan. There are two prismatic towers on the corners. A semicircular Renaissance entrance portal led to a drawbridge. Sgraffito ornamental strips have been restored on the façade and the rooms are vaulted with Renaissance cross or barrel vaults with lunettes.The second, newer manor house, built on the west side, also has a U-type floor plan, but has three round towers at the corners. The courtyard facade has open arcades on the first and second floors. The ground floor rooms are vaulted with shallow Renaissance cross vaults and barrel vaults with lunettes. Both buildings are multi-storey and together form a closed layout with a central courtyard.

Starší kaštieľ bol pravdepodobne postavený na mieste vodného hradu alebo kúrie a má pôdorys tvaru písmena U. Na nárožiach sú dve hranolové veže. Polkruhovito zakončený renesančný vstupný portál viedol na padací most. Na fasáde sú obnovené sgrafitové ornamentálne pásy a miestnosti sú zaklenuté renesančnými krížovými alebo valenými klenbami s lunetami.Druhý, novší kaštieľ, postavený na západnej strane má tiež pôdorys typu U, no na nárožiach má tri kruhové veže. Nádvorná fasáda má otvorené arkády na prvom i druhom podlaží. Miestnosti prízemia sú zaklenuté plytkými renesančnými krížovými klenbami a valenými klenbami s lunetami. Oba objekty sú poschodové a vytvárajú spolu uzavretú dispozíciu s ústredným nádvorím.

In the 15th century, the Krasnian area belonged to an important aristocratic Pongrácz family. Archival records show that in 1561 the family rebuilt their late Gothic manor here (some sources also assume a water castle) into a family residence, a Renaissance manor house. Lukáš Čierny from Budatín together with his son Jan took care of the construction. The building was surrounded by a moat and the manor was entered through a drawbridge, the remains of which are still preserved on the original entrance portal. In 1654 there was a fire in the manor house, followed by an extensive reconstruction. In the immediate vicinity began to build a new manor house with a central courtyard, which was connected to the old building by a single wing. Today, the whole manor consists of two late Renaissance buildings connected by a connecting wing. At the end of the 19th century, a general renovation was carried out with the addition of a chapel. After the Second World War, however, the Pongrácz family lost it due to nationalization - for a long time, the state became its owner. After the nationalization of the manor house by the state, its premises were used mainly for cultural purposes, and for some time the Považské Museum was also housed in it. The last comprehensive renovation took place in the years 1967 - 1980, when the building was statically secured, but from a historical point of view there was irreversible damage. Descendants of the original owners did not return the manor until it was restituted in 1995. In 2004, the manor house was bought from them by the Italian businessman Rugger Gadotti, who renovated the building and furnished the interior with historic furniture. The mansion is privately owned and hosts weddings and other events.

V 15. storočí oblasť Krasnian patrila významnej šľachtickej rodine Pongráczovcov. Z archívnych záznamov vyplýva, že v roku 1561 tu rodina prestavala svoju neskorogotickú kúriu (nietoré zdroje predpokladajú aj vodný hrad) na rodové sídlo, renesančný kaštieľ. O výstavbu sa postaral Lukáš Čierny z Budatína spolu so svojím synom Janom. Objekt bol obklopený vodnou priekopou a do kaštieľa sa vchádzalo cez padací most, ktorého pozostatky sú dodnes zachované na pôvodnom vstupnom portáli. V roku 1654 došlo v kaštieli k požiaru, následne sa uskutočnila rozsiahla rekonštrukcia.V bezprostrednej blízkosti začali stavať nový kaštieľ s ústredným nádvorím, ktorý bol napojený na starú stavbu jedným krídlom. Celý kaštieľ dnes pozostáva z dvoch neskororenesančných objektov prepojených spojovacím krídlom. Na konci 19. storočia sa realizovala generálna obnova s prístavbou kaplnky. Po druhej svetovej vojne však o neho rod Pongráczovcov kvôli znárodňovaniu prišiel – na dlhé obdobie sa tak jeho majiteľom stal štát. Po znárodnení kaštieľa štátom sa jeho priestory využívali najmä na kultúrne účely, istý čas v ňom sídlilo aj Považské múzeum. Posledná komplexná obnova sa uskutočnila v rokoch 1967 – 1980, kedy bol objekt staticky zabezpečený, ale z historického hľadiska došlo k nenávratným škodám. Potomkom pôvodných majiteľov sa kaštieľ vrátil až pri reštitúcii v roku 1995. V roku 2004 od nich kaštieľ odkúpil taliansky podnikateľ Rugger Gadotti, ktorý objekt zrenovoval a interiér zariadil historickým nábytkom. Kaštieľ je v súkromnom vlastníctve a organizujú sa v ňom svadby a iné udalosti.
