This representative building with one-storey was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the place of an old house owned by the Ioan Poynár family (Pojnar, Poinar). The old house in the heart of the city was designed for commerce, being divided to accommodate several shops: a tailoring shop, a delicatessen, a stationery and a bookstore. The building is at the intersection between the King Ferdinand I Square and Grigorescu Street (Mészáros). It is one of the palaces designed and built in secession style at the beginning of the 20th century, began in 1907, completed in 1911 by the famous architect Sztarill Ferenc. The estate commissioner, Ioan Poynár, was part of the city council and director of the Oradea tobacco warehouse (state monopoly) from Oradea. Since it was put in use, the Poynár House, as we know it today, accommodated rental and commercial premises, such as the Koch brothers’ men’s clothing store, at the mezzanine a locally produced furniture store and Kovács Gyula’s dentist practice. After World War II and until 2004, the ground floor of the building hosted the largest bookstore in town, initially called the People’s Will Bookstore, the Pushkin Bookstore and then, Mihai Eminescu Bookstore. Casa Poinar din Oradea este o clădire istorică din județul Bihor, România. În lista monumentelor românești este BH-II-mB-01049. Istorie Planurile au fost aprobate de consiliul municipal în ianuarie 1907. Construcția a fost realizată de proiectantul Ferenc Sztarill, iar casa a fost finalizată atât de repede încât mutarea în clădire s-a făcut în noiembrie 1907. Descriere Casa de colț cu două etaje este simetrică pe ambele părți. Datorită lucrărilor realizate de proiectant pentru perechea de arhitecți Komor-Jakab, putem vedea soluții arhitecturale împrumutate de la Palatul Vulturul Negru în multe locuri. Cele două etaje proeminente sunt susținute de un rând curb de arce la jumătatea etajului. Ferestrele de la primul etaj sunt drepte, iar ferestrele de la al doilea sunt semicirculare. Ramele ferestrei sunt decorate cu nasturi. Din coșurile majolice, care împodobeau fațada, acum nu au mai rămas aproape nimic. Fereastra mansardelor este înconjurată de un buchet de decorațiuni din ipsos. Atracția principală a clădirii este designul colțului. Fiecare etaj este decorat cu un balcon semicircular, deasupra căruia se află un turn polar cu jumătate de coloane, cu o cupolă zveltă în formă de ceapă deasupra. Acoperișul este acoperit cu ardezie.

Története A terveket 1907 januárjában hagyta jóvá a városi közgyűlés. A kivitelezést is a tervező Sztarill Ferenc végezte, s a ház oly gyorsan elkészült, hogy 1907 novemberében már beköltöztek. Leírása A kétemeletes sarokház mindkét oldala szimmetrikus. Visszaköszön, hogy a tervező dolgozott a Komor-Jakab építészpárosnak, több helyen is a Fekete Sas palota megoldásait láthatjuk. A földszint síkjából kiugró két emeletet a félemeleten ívelten előrehajló konzolsor tartja. Az első emelet ablakai egyenes, a másodiké félköríves lezárásúak. Az ablakkereteket gombok díszítik. A homlokzatot egykor gazdagon díszítő majolikalapokból mára szinte semmi nem maradt. Az oromzati padlásablakot virágcsokor formájú vakolatdíszek veszik körbe. Az épület fő látványossága a sarok kialakítása. Mindkét emeleten félkörös erkély díszíti, fölöttük a sarki, féloszlopokkal díszített torony, tetején karcsú hagymakupolával. A tetőzet pala borítású.
