The story of the Black Tindari’s Madonna turns around several legends.
It is said that the statue was painted on cedarwood end it was transported by sea, preventing the navigation of the sailors after they had taken refuge in the Bay of Marinello because of a storm. The sailors deposited the load and the statue, which was brought to a church on the above hill. The below beach instead, was formed because of a miracle after a little girl fell from the Sanctuary and she found saves while she was playing in the sand. The girl was the daughter of a pilgrim came to admire the Madonna, because she was not sure of the Virgin’s dark-skinned.
