Ancient XIth century fortress.

The castle was altered in the XVth, XVIth and XVIIIth centuries.

Buttress, arms room of the XIth century and oubliettes.

The gardens designed by Le Nôtre and the XVIIIth century circular ice storage room were both inspired by those of Versailles.

Nowadays the castle of Entrecasteaux is among the more important in the Var department.

Great characters who lived in the castle.

François de Grignan, the son in law of Madame de Sévigné.

L'Amiral d'Entrecasteaux was born in 1737. He was sent by King Louis the XVIth to look for La Perouse in the south pacific. He left in 1791 and die of scorbut in 1793 his mission unaccomplished.

Jean Baptiste, marquis d'Entrecasteaux was born in 1761. He murdered his wife in 1784.

Entirely redecorated with genuine antique furniture, tapestries, paintings and wall clocks. The castle is entirely rehabilitated and it's current owner, Alain Gayral, actually lives there.
