Batthyány Castle is located between the hills of Halls, a few kilometers from the thermal lake of Heviz thermal bath in Kehidakustany and Lake Balaton. Today the castle is a museum hotel.

Batthyány is the old name of Hungarian family tycoons. Members of this family bear the title of Count and Countess and accordingly prince or princess.
Batthyány family members can trace their roots at the base of Hungary in 896 AD from the Árpád dynasty. There were seven leaders Arpad one named Ors, who took the name Kovago-Ors. In 1398 Miklos Kovago-Ors married Katalin Batthyány. King Zsigmond (Sigismund) Miklos gave the area around the city and he took the name Batthyány. Family was first mentioned in documents in 1398, and their ancestors in Güssing in Austria's Burgenland region since 1522. In 1570, substantiated Boldizar Batthyány family residence in Güssing, in the center of Protestantism in the region. His descendant of Adam Batthyány (1610-1659), however, was a Catholic and Franciscan monastery founded in Güssing. Lajos Batthyány [02/14/1806, 10/06/1849], Count, Hungarian politician. Lajos Batthyány became the first Prime Minister of Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Pursued a policy aimed at preserving the Hungarian part of the Habsburg Empire. Since the founding of the Defense Committee withdrew from active politics. After entry into the Austrian troops Budapest (January 5, 1849) attempted to enter into negotiations with the Austrian commander Windischgrätz but was arrested (January 8, 1849) and by the verdict of the court-martial shot in Pest in 1849. After 1945, the Batthyány family property was largely expropriated in Hungary and other countries under Communist rule, although they retained their property in Austria.
Batthyány family in 1655 built the central core of the castle, consisting of four wings with angular towers. In 1730 Count Lajos Batthyány rebuilt building in baroque castle from the mid-19th century becomes the property of the family Batthyány in honor which is named. Several times the castle was undergoing renovations.

The last renovation took place in 2000. Thanks to the efforts of the restorers, Castle acquired its original beauty and charm. The hotel complex is located in the 300 year old park, the perfect place for leisurely walks or picnics. Parking, 24-hour reception, a safe (at the reception), WIFI Internet access in the lobby, car rental at the guests disposal. Restaurant with international cuisine and grill dinner - in the summer - a real culinary delight. The hotel can arrange wedding ceremonies. The castle offers two conference rooms (100 beds) with technical equipment (flipchart, projector, TV, video and CD players, projector).

All rooms reflect the style of the castle 1800s. Non-smoking room (bath or shower), bathrobes, hair dryer. Some rooms have a balcony.

In the heart of the well-groomed park Hungarian town of Keszthely, that occupies the north-western shore of Lake Balaton, stands one of the most beautiful and largest castles of the country - Festetics. Built in the middle of the XVIII century in the style of French palaces, it differs in the splendor of the facade and luxury interior decoration. 
Rooms situated on the ground floor, provide the opportunity to see the most valuable and beautiful samples of Hungarian weapons from different eras. Library, in turn, not only the most sophisticated room palace, but its main value. That it is stored only in Hungary surviving intact aristocratic private collection of books, in which the first printed book, and unique prints, and notes with autographs of Haydn. 

Count Festetics went down in history as progressive landowners: Kristof founded a hospital, Paul - a city school, and George Festetics in 1797 opened the first European Agricultural University "Georgikon", which today is the faculty of the University of Pannonia.
Directly castle was founded in the time of Krzysztof Festetics in 1745 on the ruins of the family homestead Gersei Petho. Construction lasted more than a century. According to the original plan for the residence of Hungarian aristocrats was "only" thirty-four rooms. The great and magnificent structure that we have today - the creation of the Viennese architect Viktor Rumpelmaera. His efforts in the period from 1883 to 1887 in the castle, a series of reconstruction works. Their result was a large complex, built in the shape of a horseshoe and has one single room. 
Library wing was built by George Festetics period from 1799 to 1801 under the leadership of Andrew Fisher of the Vienna Academy. Georgikon students have access to the library. 
Dining room, now converted into a concert hall, decorated with stucco. 
As for the extensive parkland, it was written into the project at the outset. It was unspoken tradition that was followed in the construction of aristocratic estates. Sketch of the future garden was designed in English landscape gardener, today - landscaper, EH Miller in the XIX century. Miller ulterior motive was discharged from England. Two centuries ago, parks and gardens are just the English style - with fountains and statues - considered particularly chic, and any self-respecting aristocrat simply had to follow this model. Nowadays gardening area gradually acquire its original amazing view. Visitors can enjoy a separate, already restored, the corners of the park. 
In contrast to the surrounding areas, the castle was lucky much more - it was not damaged during the Second World War. 
Since 1974, the castle is located in an independent museum and stables a collection of carriages, wagons and other crews. 
Former guest wing, ballrooms and an incredible mirrored hall again today open to the public. At the castle today are the most diverse events: international conferences, concerts, literary readings, balls, receptions and many, many others. 
From Keszthely Festetics former residence separated by a wall with entrance gates, through which anyone today for a modest fee may enter the territory for which decades ago walked the most prominent representatives of the Viennese nobility. 
Castle Festetics annually receives more than 200,000 visitors.

Sümeg Castle is a castle by the town of Sümeg, Veszprém county, Hungary.

Built in the mid or late 13th century by Béla IV of Hungary, Sümeg Castle is situated atop a mountain called "Castle Hill", 20 miles north of Lake Balaton. During its existence, it has been expanded several times. In the 15th century, it was fortified, and the second of two towers was built. It has been under siege several times, and has experienced two fires.

Today, it is the main tourist attraction for visitors to Sümeg.

It is irregular in shape, and situated in a north-south orientation atop a mountain called "Castle Hill", 20 miles north of Lake Balaton. It has two towers, and is 125 metres long and 80 metres wide. The interior contains a walled pathway. This leads to internal gatehouse that opens into the main courtyard.

This castle was originally built in the mid or late 13th century by Béla IV of Hungary, where he lived during the Mongolian invasion between 1241-1242. Later, it was presented as a gift to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Veszprém by Stephen V of Hungary.

In 1552, in response to the capture of Veszprém by the Turks, the castles was rebuilt and fortified to serve as a frontier fortress.

In 1713, after the Austrian occupation during Rákóczi's War for Independence, troops set the castle on fire.

During the 20th century, parts of the castle were restored.

Since 1989, it has been privately held. It was restored on a large scale, and is now operated as a tourist attraction, providing events and tournaments. It is considered to be Hungary's most well-preserved fortress.
