The Château des Tourelles is a castle in the commune of Vernon in the Eure département of France.
The castle originated in 1196, when Philippe Auguste (Philip II of France), fighting against the king of England, Richard the Lionheart, for possession of Normandy, seized Vernon and made the town a military base.
The castle consists of a square tower surrounded by four round turrets, the whole edifice rising to a height of twenty metres.
It is one of the few castles in France which has been practically unchanged for 800 years. The property of the commune since 1955, it has been listed since 1945 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

From the 14th century, the Jubert family owns the lands of Bizy.
In 1675, Nicolas Jubert de Bouville, State Councilor and intendant of Orleans, raised the seigneury of Bizy to the rank of marquisate. He built a residential castle.
In 1721, the Duke of Belle-Isle bought the marquisate of Bizy. He was the grandson of Louis XIV's superintendent of finance, Nicolas Fouquet.
He  keeps the Château built by Jubert de Bouville and focuses on the park. He undertakes the expansion of the estate, builds a hydraulic network to supply the Château with water, and arranges gardens with fountains and water games.
He called on the architect Contant d'Ivry, considered to be the "best architect of Europe" who, among other things, built the Palais Royal staircase for the construction of buildings constituting a barnyard.
Today, the magnificent stables remain. They were built to resemble those of Versailles.
In 1749, the Duke of Belle-Isle, who became Marshal of France in 1741, receives Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour.
Having no descendants, he bequeathed the castle to King Louis XV in 1759. The king then exchanges Bizy with the principality of Dombes (in the Ain) with the count of Eu who will bequeath it on his death to his cousin, Louis of Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre, legitimized grandson of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan.
The Duke of Penthievre had one of the most important fortune in Europe, but he spent most of his income doing good and was concerned with the poor. At the Revolution, the Duke of Penthievre continues to be acclaimed: "Why would the people want to harm me? I have always thought that the high rank analogous to my birth devoted me tosacrifice myself to them."
In 1792, he settled permanently in Bizy with his daughter, Louise Marie-Adélaïde become, thanks to her marriage with "Philippe-Égalité", Duchess of Orléans.
The Duke of Penthièvre died in 1793. In Perlet's journal of March 7, 1793, it was stated: "Citizen Penthièvre is dead ... it was the heritage of the poor man deposited by Fortune in the hands of Virtue ..."
The property of the Orléans family is confiscated and the Château de Bizy is declared national property and abandoned.
Merchants will dismantle the Château des Jubert de Bouville and sell it stone by stone. In 1805, it is bought by General Le Suire who will build a more modest house according to the former barnyard of the Duke of Belle-Isle, the only building spared from the Revolution. That is to say on the site of the current main building.
Under the Restoration, The Duchess of Orleans buys her property back including the Château de Bizy.
Her son Louis-Philippe, King of the French, stays at the Château frequently and makes improvements: he redevelops the house of Le Suire, builds the glass galleries to completely close the courtyard and arranges the park in an English Style.
The property of the House of Orlean is again confiscated, this time by Napoleon III and is auctioned and sold by the State.
In 1858 Baron Schikler bought Bizy. He preserves part of the transformations of Louis-Philippe whose galleries of the main courtyard and built, with the help of the architect William Henry White, the central part, sumptuous building of neoclassical style, preserved today .
In 1909, the baron bequeathed Bizy to his grand-nephew, Louis Suchet, fourth Duke of Albufera, descendant of Suchet, Marshal of the Empire and 1st Duke of Albufera.
Madame Vergé, born Isabelle Suchet of Abuféra is still today the owner of the castle.

Château de Bizy

The present Château de La Roche-Guyon was built in the 12th century, controlling a river crossing of the Seine, itself one of the routes to and from Normandy; The Abbé Suger described its grim aspect: "At the summit of a steep promontory, dominating the bank of the great river Seine, rises a frightful castle without title to nobility, called La Roche. Invisible on the surface, it is hollowed out of a high cliff. The able hand of the builder has established in the mountainside, digging into the rock, an ample dwelling provided with a few miserable openings". In the mid-13th century, a fortified manor house (the château-bas) was added below. Guy de La Roche fell at the Battle of Agincourt, and his widow was ousted from the Roche, after six months of siege, in 1419; she preferred to depart rather than accept Henry Plantagenet as her overlord. It came to the Liancourt family with the marriage of Roger de Plessis-Liancourt to the heiress Marie de La Roche; he was a childhood companion of Louis XIII, first gentleman of the Chambre du Roi, and was made a duke in 1643. He and his wife made great changes to the château-bas, opening windows in its structure and laying out the terrace to the east, partly cut into the mountain's steep slope.
The domain of La Roche-Guyon came to the La Rochefoucauld family in 1669, with the marriage of Jeanne-Charlotte de Plessis-Liancourt with François VII de La Rochefoucauld. The Château retained its medieval aspect of a fortress, with its moat and towers and cramped, dark living apartments. The Château was largely extended in the 18th century.
When Turgot, the minister of Louis XVI, failed in his schemes for fundamental reforms in 1776, he retired to the Château briefly, as the guest of Louise Elisabeth Nicole de La Rochefoucauld, Duchesse d'Enville.
La Roche Guyon was the birthplace of François Alexandre Frédéric, duc de la Rochefoucauld-Liancourt (1747–1827).
The castle was used as a setting for the medieval segment of a famous Franco-Belgian graphic novel on time travel: Le Piège diabolique (The Diabolical Trap) of the Blake and Mortimer series by Edgar Pierre Jacobs.
After D-Day, German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel (1891–1944) defended Normandy against the Allies in World War II from a bunker located here. The castle also was Rommel's headquarters.
Restorations and archaeological surveys undertaken after 1990 by the Conservatoire régional des Monuments historiques revealed new additions to the documentary history of La Roche-Guyon, undertaken in the 19th century by Hippolyte Alexandre and Emile Rousse.
At the beginning of 1960, French technocrats had the idea for a new administrative capital, to replace Paris as capital with a French "Brasilia" built near La Roche-Guyon and to transform the commune into a "Monaco on the Seine". At the beginning of 1960 there was an architectural design competition for the Project, in which the architects Albert Laprade and Jean Brasilier participated.
The castle is now open to the public.

Château de La Roche-Guyon

The Château de Gaillon is a renaissance castle located in Gaillon, Normandy region of France.
History
The somewhat battered and denuded Château de Gaillon, begun in 1502 on ancient foundations was the summer archiepiscopal residence of Georges d'Amboise, Cardinal Archbishop of Rouen; he made of the old château-fort a palatial Early Renaissance structure of unparalleled luxury and magnificence, the most ambitious and significant French building project of its time. Isabella d'Este Gonzaga was kept abreast of its development from the Mantuan ambassador in France.
When in 1498 his patron, the duc d'Orléans, acceded to the throne as Louis XII, d'Amboise, who had spent much time in northern Italy on diplomatic missions and had been viceroy in Milan in 1500, where he had met Leonardo da Vinci and other artists and humanists, was suddenly raised to the high position of cardinal and prime minister. He had access to the architect-engineer Fra Giocondo, who had been invited to France by the king, and to the Italian garden designer Pacello da Mercogliano. By 1508 Gaillon's splendid new ranges and gardens, one of the first Renaissance structures in France, were fit to receive Louis XII and his queen, Anne de Bretagne.
The Gothic range that formed an irregular outer court is entered through a massive gatehouse, remodeled in 1509, with octagonal corner towers and steep-pitched slate roofs. The decorative elements of its shallow-relief carvings in panels and pilasters are drawn from the Classical repertory. Behind the first, irregular court Cardinal d'Amboise constructed a range, the Galerie des Cerfs with the central triumphal gateway, the Porte de Genes (the "Genoa Gate"), which set apart a trapezoidal cour d'honneur surrounded with two-storey ranges, two facing one another with arcaded lower storeys. High pitched slate roofs were rhythmically pierced with dormers. A helical staircase tower stood in one corner.
The north range was the new Grand'Maison, begun in 1502, which contained the suite of apartments of Cardinal d'Amboise. Between the chapel and the Tour de la Sirène at the northeast corner of the château, runs the vaulted gallery open to the view over the valley of the Seine. It is the first French loggia with an outward-looking aspect.
At the center of the court once stood the finest fountain in France, which received its own plate in Jacques Androuet du Cerceau's Les Plus Excellents Bastiments de France. The fountain was commissioned 14 September 1506 from the Genoese sculptors Agostino Solari, Antonio della Porta and Pace Gazini, as a gift from the Republic of Venice to Cardinal d'Amboise, for having evicted the Sforza from Milan.
It was twenty-two feet high, surmounted by a sculpture of John the Baptist, whose presence was a reminder of such fountains' origins in baptismal fonts, above stacked vase-forms with lactating Graces and urinating boys by Bertrand de Meynal and Jérôme Pacherot. Masks spat water from two superposed basins above an octagonal tank with heraldic and emblemmatic bas-reliefs. At the time it was built the fountain at Gaillon perhaps had no equal in Italy, unless it was inspired by a feature in the gardens of Poggio Reale, laid out for Alfonso II of Naples. The lower octagonal Carrara marble basin was removed from Gaillon when the fountain was disassembled by the Cardinal de la Rochefoucauld in 1754 and set up in the gardens at Liancourt (Oise). In 1911 it was removed to the Château de la Rochefoucauld, where it may be seen today on the upper terrace.
From the main court a second turreted gatehouse in one corner opened onto a bridge across the moat that provided access to a large courtyard, on the far side of which a range of new buildings with a central towered gateway opened into the splendid enclosed parterre designed by Pacello da Mercogliano. Its wide central gravelled walk led through a central pavilion open in four directions to a two-story pavilion set into the far wall. The high ground to the left was planted with trees. On the right a long gallery enclosing the parterre separated it from the patterned beds of vegetables and fruit-trees on a lower level, beneath a massively buttressed retaining wall. A number of conservative features stand out in this project at the dawn of the French formal garden, notably the enclosure of the main parterre and the lack of cohesive linking the various features. "At Gaillon the possibilities of the terraced site are ignored as also had been the case at Blois, and the use of ramps or stairs to achieve an architectural unity did not seem as yet a possibility" (Adams 1969 p 18).
At Gaillon Charles Cardinal de Bourbon succeeded Cardinal d'Amboise. For him an avenue was cut through the woods of the uppermost garden level; it led to a terrace cut into the wooded slope with the Maison Blanche, a two-story white marble pavilion with an arcaded lower story that was set on an artificial island at the end of a short canal; at the other end was a "hermitage" of rockwork rising from the center of a square water tank. Both the pavilion and the rockwork Parnasse de Gaillon contained grottos, the one natural, the other architectural. In 1566, when the Cardinal entertained Catherine de' Medici during the siege of Rouen at the height of the Wars of Religion, the Maison Blanche was the setting for a pastoral masque. The features were engraved by Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, whom William Howard Adams has suggested may have designed the ensemble (Adams 1969 p. 25-26, figs 17-18).
Gaillon received a long succession of royal guests: Henri III and Henri IV, Louis XIV, and chancellor Séguier.
Jacques-Nicolas Colbert, the son of Jean-Baptiste Colbert and Archbishop of Rouen, further embellished the château and its grounds with the work of Jules Hardouin-Mansart and André Le Nôtre.
Gaillon was burned out in a violent fire in 1764, but reconstructed: here the Cardinal de la Rochefoucauld received Benjamin Franklin and Louis XVI as a Carthusian monastery until the Revolution. Vandalized and emptied in 1790, it was sold as a national property and partly dismantled, then served as a penitentiary 1812-1827 before being sold again to a local farmer in 1834, with the laconic remark "Ce domaine est des plus beaux de France."
One section of Fra Giocondo's facade of Gaillon was removed under the direction of Alexandre Lenoir in the early nineteenth century for his Museum of French Monuments in Paris. Lenoir's collection of architectural remnants stood on land across the Seine from the Louvre, the very ground that the French government provided for the establishment of the École des Beaux-Arts around 1830. At the direction of architect Félix Duban the portal was integrated into the courtyard design and served as a model for students of architecture. Recently the elements of the Galerie des Cerfs and the Porte de Gênes have been restored to their original positions at Gaillon once again.
The Château is distinctly battered in its present appearance. An idea of the refinement of its furnishing can be derived from the marble bas-relief of St, George and the Dragon, executed in 1508 for the high chapel by Michel Colombe, now at the Louvre Museum, Paris.

Château de Gaillon

The Domaine of Villarceaux is a French château, water garden and park located in the commune of Chaussy in the Val d'Oise Department of France, 65 kilometers northwest of Paris.
The Domaine is currently managed by the Regional Council of the 'Île-de-France for 99 years, on an agreement with the owners of the domaine, the Fondation Charles Leopold Mayer. The park contains a manor house from the 16th century and a château in the style of Louis XV from the 18th century. The gardens are classified among the Notable Gardens of France.
The gardens contain a rare 18th-century ornamental feature called a vertugadin (eng: farthingale), modelled after the hoop skirts of the 18th century, surrounded by statues brought from Italy.
History
The gardens are located on the site of a medieval castle from the 11th century, built to protect France from the British, who at that time occupied Normandy, the neighboring province. Many vestiges of the medieval fortifications remain in the park. A manor house and French water garden was built there in the 17th century. In the 18th century a château in the style of Louis XV was built on a rocky hill overlooking the water garden.
One famous resident in the 17th century was Ninon de Lenclos, the author, courtesan, and patron of the arts. Another was Françoise d'Aubigné, the future Madame de Maintenon and future wife of King Louis XIV, who lived there after the death of her first husband, the poet Paul Scarron, at the invitation of her friends the Montchevreuil, cousins of the Marquis of Villarceaux. The Marquis fell in love with her, and commissioned a full-length portrait of her, nude, which greatly embarrassed her. The portrait can be seen today in the dining room of the house. The house also contains a collection of 18th-century furniture.
The domaine has been classified as an historic monument of France since 1941. It is part of the regional park of Vexin, and is used for concerts and cultural events.

Château de Villarceaux

The Château d'Ambleville is a French Renaissance style château located within the regional park of Vexin, in the Val d'Oise Department of France. The chateau is classified as a monument historique of France.
The gardens are classified among the Notable Gardens of France by the Ministry of Culture of France.
History
The château was built in the 16th century for the seigneurs of Ambleville and Villarceaux by architect Jean Grappin, on the foundations of a medieval castle on the banks of the Aubette. In the 17th century, the house was acquired by the Duke of Villeroy, Nicolas V, the Ambassador of France to Medicis. He created a garden in the Florentine style. The house was purchased in 1893 by Charles Sedelmeyer (1837–1925), who restored the chateau and added a theater and Venetian chimneys and balconies. In 1928 the new owner, the Marquise de Villefranche, remade the gardens after those of the recently restored gardens of the Villa Gamberaia in Florence. Today they offer one of the best examples of an Italian Renaissance garden in France.

Château de Maudétour

The Château d'Acquigny is a French castle located in the department of Eure in Upper Normandy.
The present castle was built in 1557 by Anne de Laval and was listed in the French National Inventory of Historical Monuments in 1926.
Topography and climate
Acquigny sits at the confluence of two rivers: the Eure, formerly navigable to Chartres, and the Iton. The two rivers were dammed and redirected during the twelfth century by the monks of Conches-en-Ouche to power mills in the region. These newly created branches also fed into the castle's moats, which protected the Saint-mals monastery and the medieval village located directly behind the current castle.
On either side of the château are heavily wooded hills. This shelters the valley in which the château lies from wind, creating a microclimate slightly warmer than the surrounding areas.
History
Medieval fortress
The Renaissance château that exists today was built on the site of a medieval fortress that had been built in the 11th century to protect Normandy while William the Conqueror was campaigning in England.
Following the imprisonment of Charles II of Navarre in 1356, the Duke of Lancaster was sent by the King of England to rescue Philip of Navarre, brother of Charles. His army of twelve hundred horsemen, sixteen thousand archers and two thousand armed brigandines convened in Évreux.
The original fortress was taken by Navarre and his army. Following the Battle of Cocherel, the castle served as a refuge and stronghold for Navarre. Control of this strategic location along the two rivers caused much anxiety for the king of France, who feared a loss of influence in the High Normandy Region and ordered his forces to retake Acquigny. After a six-month siege by the French forces, the fortress was retaken.
In 1378, the fortress was razed by Charles V, who wished to destroy any fortifications and castles in Normandy that stood for the King of Navarre. Charles V was successful in this aim with the exception of Cherbourg, which the French could not capture.
When the English were forced out of Normandy in 1450, Anne de Laval took possession of Acquigny. In an act to pay homage to the king of France, Anne de Laval combined the baronies Acquigny and Crevecoeur Crevecoeur.
The castle today
The present castle was built in 1557 by Anne de Laval, daughter of Guy XVI de Laval and widow of Louis Silly. She was also the cousin of the king and first lady of honor Catherine de Medici. She wanted the architects Philibert Delorme and Jacques Androuet Hoop to design a castle inspired by the eternal love she bore for her husband. The castle's crest is made from the couple's intertwined initials (ALS); the floorplan of the château also takes the form of this triglyph. On the central turret there is a vault in the form of a seashell in tribute to the Way of St. James. This facade of honor is coated with many other decorative elements that celebrate the love she held for her husband.
The castle was purchased in 1656 by Claude Roux Cambremont. In 1745, Pierre-Robert Roux Esneval, known as the President of Acquigny and the great-grandson of Claude Roux Cambremont, expanded the castle. Pierre-Robert Roux Esneval employed the architect Charles Thibault to rebuild the chapel of Saint-mals as well as stables and sheds. It was at this time that the orangery was built, along with the Church of Saint Cécile and the Little Castle, which was designed to be attached to a hermitage.
Gardens
The vast park created during the 17th century follows a circular route. The forest is filled with large chestnut trees, many over two hundred years old.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the park à la française was converted into a Romantic garden, with elements such as a cascade and a path of rocks based on a theme dear to Jean-Jacques Rousseau inReveries of the Solitary Walker.

Château d'Acquigny

Le château de Boury est situé sur la commune de Boury-en-Vexin, dans l’Oise dans les Hauts-de-France, mais à proximité de la ville normande de Gisors, sur un terrain plat. Il occupait jadis une position stratégique côté français aux confins du Vexin français, du Vexin normand et de la Picardie. Le château, son parc et ses annexes sont classés monument historique depuis 1931.
Localisation
Le château est situé en France, dans la région Hauts-de-France et dans le département de l'Oise, sur la commune de Boury-en-Vexin, près de la RD 6 au centre du village. La cour d'honneur et la façade principale donnent sur l'ouest et sont visibles de la rue.
Historique
Mis à part quelques interruptions, la seigneurie de Boury est restée depuis le xie siècle dans la descendance du premier seigneur connu. La succession des principaux propriétaires s’établit ainsi :

Guillaume (1701 - 1772), chevalier, officier au régiment de Condé; en 1730, il épouse sa cousine Charlotte Aubourg de la Pelleterie; en 1731, alors que la marquise n’a que 18 ans, Coypel réalise son portrait ainsi que celui du marquis; en 1767, Guillaume invite Jean-Jacques Rousseau à Boury, à l’occasion d’une chasse donnée en l’honneur du prince de Conti.
Charles (1732–1818), colonel aux Gardes-Françaises, chevalier de Saint-Louis; il épouse Anne Charlotte de Chamoy; alors que ses deux fils aînés ont émigré, il choisit de rester à Boury et tient à jour méthodiquement son terrier; arrêté en septembre 1793 avec son épouse et cinq de leurs enfants, il doit son salut à la chute de Robespierre; à son retour en novembre 1794, il constate que le château n’a pas été pillé; la Révolution, durant laquelle le dernier marquis de Boury fait preuve d’une grande générosité, appauvrit considérablement la famille et, en 1823, les héritiers se résignent à vendre le domaine.
Famille Tassin de Villiers (1823 – 1835)
Au cours de cette période, différentes transformations sont effectuées; les parterres à la française font place à des jardins à l’anglaise; des boiseries sont remplacées; le domaine est à nouveau vendu; les restes de l'ancien château, dits "la grande ferme", sont acquis par la comtesse de Lagrange.
Famille Ferron de La Ferronays (1835 – 1851)
Auguste (1726 - 1842), comte de la Ferronays, pair de France, ancien ambassadeur et ancien ministre des affaires étrangères de Charles X.
Charles, comte de la Ferronays, fils du précédent; il succède à ses parents en 1848; le domaine est mis en adjudication l’année suivante; en 1850, la partie du parc appelée « Flumesnil » est détachée de la propriété et vendue à un marchand de bois du nom de Clopart; celui-ci le défriche et casse les statues jadis offertes par le baron de Breteuil.
Famille Viallet (1851 – 1875)
Monsieur Viallet achète la propriété; en 1857, il fait abattre les murs latéraux surmontés de vases de pierre, ainsi que l’entrée principale, en forme d’hémicycle.
Son fils réalise des travaux de menuiserie qui défigurent les aménagements d’origine (faux plafonds, cloisons…).
Famille Zentz d’Alnois (de 1875 à nos jours)
Hubert Édouard (1829 – 1900) ; ayant appris que le domaine allait être démoli par un entrepreneur, il l’achète et en fait la surprise à son épouse, Charlotte Noémie de Boury (1853 – 1928), arrière-petite-fille du dernier marquis de Boury ; elle en fera sa résidence principale.
Raoul Ange Hubert ( - 1943), officier de la Légion d'honneur du 19 janvier 1925, fils des précédents, chef d’escadrons de cavalerie; le château, pillé, devient inhabitable; Édouard, fils aîné de Raoul, lieutenant de cavalerie, est tué dans les Ardennes en 1940.
Michel (1909 - 2001), fils de Raoul et de son épouse Blanche, née Boulet ; après l’occupation allemande, le château, réquisitionné par EDF, accueille des colonies de vacances; en 1946, à la suite d'un procès, la famille Zentz d'Alnois récupère son bien ; en 1969, le château ouvre au public.
Philippe, fils du précédent et propriétaire actuel.
Le château avec ses façades et toitures et la chapelle attenante ; les anciennes écuries situées à l'entrée du domaine et dans le parc ; le parc ; un bâtiment situé dans le parc comprenant l'orangerie, la buanderie et le colombier ; et la fontaine-abreuvoir ont été classés monument historique par arrêté du 18 juin 1931. Le château et le parc sont ouverts à la visite pendant les heures d'ouverture, moyennant un droit d'entrée.
Description
Un premier château, dont il subsiste encore une tour ronde et un colombier dans la cour d’une ferme, avait été construit au xie siècle. C’était un poste avancé destiné à repousser les invasions normandes, puis les troupes anglaises pendant la guerre de Cent Ans. Au xvie siècle, les Bec-Crespin entreprennent d'importants travaux pour restaurer le manoir seigneurial en ruine. Ils font démolir les murs de la forteresse et combler les fossés. Les bâtiments s’ouvrent alors sur la place principale du village. La grosse tour d’angle coiffée d’un toit pointu date du xve siècle, mais elle sera profondément remaniée au xvie siècle, alors que l'on construisait le corps du logis qui, aujourd'hui, se prolonge par un bâtiment plus tardif du xviiie siècle. À l’intérieur de la tour, avait été édifiée une cheminée monumentale, remarquable morceau de sculpture Renaissance, enlevée en 1902 et transportée au musée de Boston. Sur le pignon de la grange, se dresse un lion héraldique du xvie siècle qui tient entre ses pattes un écusson aux armes de la famille du Bec-Crespin.
Le château actuel est une demeure de plaisance dont les plans ont été établis par Jules Hardouin-Mansart. L’essentiel de la construction se déroule entre 1685 et 1689 pour un coût d’environ 100 000 écus. Il se compose d’un corps de logis rectangulaire de cinq travées, flanqué de deux pavillons de deux travées et comporte deux étages et un étage de combles. L’ensemble est coiffé d’une toiture à forte pente. Une chapelle, dessinée par Le Prince et édifiée en 1718, est adossée au pavillon nord. Côté ouest, la terrasse, à laquelle on accède par quelques marches, donne sur la cour d’honneur qui fait face à un jardin à la française. L’ornementation des façades fut confiée au sculpteur Michel Poissant. On lui doit notamment sur la façade ouest cinq mascarons représentant, au centre, Jupiter, et de part et d’autre, les quatre saisons. Le logis est surmonté d’un fronton triangulaire où sont représentées les armes des Aubourg de Boury, soutenues par deux licornes. Côté est, une autre terrasse couvrant toute la largeur du château s’ouvre sur un parc bordé de deux allées ombragées qui en allongent la perspective. Deux lions monumentaux en gardent les accès. Dans la partie nord du domaine, se trouve une ancienne glacière. La cour d’honneur est bordée au nord par une orangerie et au sud par des communs. Un mur borde la propriété sur trois côtés; au sud, une fontaine-abreuvoir y a été insérée.
Une galerie donne accès aux différentes pièces composant le rez-de-chaussée et à deux escaliers latéraux.
Côté nord, la chapelle est ornée d’un retable représentant Saint Charles Borromée et provenant de l’atelier de Lebrun; les vitraux ont été remaniés vers 1830.
Face à l’entrée principale, l’imposant buste de Jules Hardouin-Mansart présente une grande ressemblance avec ceux de Louis XIV.
La cuisine, côté sud, à laquelle on accède par un étroit couloir, est équipée d’une cheminée à trois foyers.
Un passe-plat permettait d’éviter les allées et venues des domestiques entre la cuisine et la salle à manger, dans laquelle sont accrochés les deux pastels de Coypel cités plus haut; une série complète de vases de Chine a été disposée sur la cheminée.
La rampe de l’escalier nord a été réalisée en 1690 par le ferronnier Nicolas Duflos; sur un grand tableau accroché au mur de l’escalier sud, est représentée une scène de chasse où l’on voit un cerf acculé par une meute de chiens.
À l’étage, on découvre notamment :
le « salon Louis XV »; un grand paravent rapporté d’Espagne servait à concentrer la chaleur près de la cheminée, sur laquelle est posé un buste du roi qui inspiré le nom de la pièce; une tapisserie d’Aubusson représentant des oiseaux exotiques a conservé de belles couleurs.
le « petit salon Louis XVI », orné de boiseries réalisées en 1765 et représentant les plaisirs de la campagne ; un buste de Louis XVII, copie en plâtre de celui de Versailles, trône au-dessus de la cheminée; le grand lustre en larmes de cristal diffusait bien la lumière des bougies.
une vaste pièce, qui servait de salle de réception pour les hôtes de marque; la cheminée monumentale en marbre est équipée de trois plaques de fonte, celle du fond ayant été fendue durant l’occupation allemande; une grande glace de Saint-Gobain, composée de plusieurs éléments dans différents états de conservation, a été disposée sur le mur opposé à celui de la cheminée pour en refléter la lumière.
Un certain nombre de portraits, répartis dans les différentes pièces, représentent les propriétaires des lieux et certains de leurs hôtes.

Château de Boury

Château du Haut Rosay is a French castle of the seventeenth century which is located in Mantes Rosay, in the present department of Yvelines and the region Île-de-France. The castle and its park, with common, outbuildings, mills, ditches, terraces and surrounding walls, and water projects (ie. B 189-198), based on an earlier measure of inscription on the additional inventory ( decree of 1 June 1989) are the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 19 February 1992. The castle is located in a site registered by order of 18 January 1946.
