Schloss Buchenau located in Buchenau between Fulda and Bad Hersfeld in the district of Eiterfeld.

The castle was built in 1618 by Georg Melchior von Buchenau and his wife Agnes von Schwalbach in the style of Weser Renaissance. There are 10 buildings around the castle and a small park.

In 1680 the castle was sold by the Buchenau family to the Fürstabt of Fulda. He gave it to the family of Schenck zu Schweinsberg. The family came to Buchenau in 1694 and lived there until 1912. After then it was used as a boarding school until 1984.

In 2001 the castle became a conference and seminar centre. It offers accommodation for groups up to 120 persons.

Fürsteneck Castle (German: Burg Fürsteneck) is a castle, situated in central Germany between Fulda and Bad Hersfeld. It belongs to the commune of Eiterfeld. The castle is at an elevation of 406 metres on a small plateau.

Fürsteneck Castle belonged to the monastery of Fulda. The first written mention of it dates to 1309, but it might have been built one or two hundred years before. After secularization in 1802, it became the property of the German state of Hesse.

Since 1952 the castle has been used as an academy for vocational and cultural continuing education. It was rebuilt by the architect Otto Bartning. Each year about 4,000 participants take part in one of nearly 200 courses, with 15,000 overnight stays.

Fürsteneck Castle

The Buttlar Castle is a former moated castle and a cultural monument in Buttlar in Wartburgkreis in West Thuringia . It is the former ancestral seat of the noble family Buttlar as well as their offshoots Treusch von Buttlar , Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels and Butler.

History

The current castle can be traced back to 1170 as a castle, some of the castle's foundations date from that time. Around 1170 the knights of Butiler acquired fiefdoms in the vicinity of the castle, which they owned until 1285. In 1456 Johannes von Buttlar bought back the castle, which was named as a palace from the 16th century. From around 1620 to the 1720s it belonged to the von Kötschau family .

Johann Anton Franz von Buttlar , brother of the Fulda abbot and imperial prince Konstantin von Buttlar , acquired the family estate in 1726. He filled the moat of the moated castle and designed the palace park in its place. In 1813 Napoleon stayed in the castle, but had to flee it in a hurry, and his troops set the castle on fire. After the death of Heinrich von Buttlar without descendants, the castle fell to the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach .

Ludwig von Buttlar -Elberberg, district administrator of the Wolfhagen district in Hessen-Nassau , bought it back into the family property in 1898. After his death, his sons Georg (until 1937) and Edgar (until 1945) live in the castle. After the end of the Second World War , Buttlar was in the Soviet occupation zone . The Soviet military administration in Germany expropriated the castle.

In the GDR , the castle was used, among other things, as an administration building and youth club and fell into disrepair. It has been privately owned again since 1999 and was extensively restored until 2005.

Buttlar Castle

Die Vorderburg ist eine Burg in der Stadt Schlitz im Vogelsbergkreis in Mittelhessen und gehört zu den fünf Schlitzer Burgen: Das sind, neben der Vorderburg, die Hinterburg mit Hinterturm und der Ottoburg, die alle eingebunden in die Stadtmauer die mittelalterliche Stadtbefestigung bildeten, zusammen mit der Schachtenburg und dem etwas außerhalb gelegenen Schloss Hallenburg. Mit der abgegangenen Burg Niederschlitz und der Ruine der Seeburg befinden sich gleich sieben Burgen in und im Umkreis der Stadt Schlitz.

Beschreibung

Die Vorderburg war die Hauptburg von Schlitz und entstand vermutlich spätestens im 13. Jahrhundert im nordwestlichen Teil des mittelalterlichen Schlitz. Von der Burg sind nur noch der untere Teil des wohnturmähnlichen ehemals romanischen Bergfrieds erhalten, dessen Fundamente aus der Zeit vor 1181 stammen. Der ältere Teil liegt an der Obertorseite. Das östliche, den Turm flankierende dreistöckige Schlossgebäude wurde 1565, wie wahrscheinlich auch die Welsche Haube des Turms, auf Veranlassung des Junkers Johann Eustach von Schlitz in der heute uns bekannten Form um- und angebaut. Die seit 819 (Gerlacus de Slitese) urkundlich erwähnten Herren von Schlitz kamen 1116 an das fuldische Lehen der Stadt, nachdem sie vorher den Grafen von Ziegenhain gehörte.

Die Vorderburg war die Hauptburg von Schlitz und bis ins frühe 18. Jahrhundert Sitz des Seniors der Ganerbengemeinschaft der Linien der Vorderburger, Hinterburger, Schachtenburger, Ottoburger und Hallenburger Herren und kam 1720 nach dem Aussterben des Mannesstamms der Vorderburger Linie mit ganzem Besitz an die Hallenburger Linie. Deren Senior, Friedrich Wilhelm von Schlitz genannt von Görtz, war hannoverscher Kammerpräsident und Staatsminister und wurde 1726 von Kaiser Karl VI. in den Reichsgrafenstand erhoben.

Der heutige Festsaal der Stadt Schlitz entstand aus dem mittelalterlichen romanischen Wohnturm. Der Westflügel wurde um 1600 auf Veranlassung von Wilhelm Balthasar von Schlitz erbaut. Aus derselben Zeit stammt das erwähnenswerte Brunnenhaus im Burghof. Es ist aus Holz, genauso wie das Räderwerk des Brunnens.

1812 wurde der aus einem Altan und einem Treppenturm bestehende Vorbau abgerissen. Im Gartenausgang des „Vorderburger Türmchens“ befindet sich das spätgotische Portal des Treppenturms. Renaissancegiebel finden sich an den Rückseiten der beiden Flügel des Gebäudes, wo ein zum Teil barocker Treppenaufgang in die oberen Stockwerke führt. Die Gräflich-Görtzische Verwaltung befindet sich im Parterre des Westflügels und beherbergt ein Heimatmuseum.

Der Turm beinhaltet seit 1950 ein aus 26 Glocken bestehendes Läutewerk, gestiftet von Graf Otto Hartmann von Schlitz; es soll nach dem Willen des Stifters der internationalen Verständigung dienen. Jeweils 15 Uhr und 17 Uhr werden Volkslieder verschiedener Nationen gespielt.

On the ground floor you can learn about the different trades of the region. The castle hall "Town History" shows all of the history of the town, of the Jewish community (since 1323), the Great German Peasant War, and much more. The doll collection has become important beyond regional borders. It is a collection from private owners, comprising about 2,000 dolls of a great variety of origin, age and materials. In the castle yard farming tools of the Vacha agricultural production are shown.
