Breitenlohe is a part of the city Burghaslach, Bavaria, Germany. Breitenlohe has about 100 inhabitants and is part of the administrative district Landkreis Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim.
Well known is the castle from the 16th century. It was originally a moated castle, but the moat is dry. It has six towers, in two of them are staircases. Before the castle was built in 1569, there was already a kind of castle in the same place. The first castle was built in 1340 for Albrecht von Hohenlohe and later sold to the Family von Vestenberg, who renovated the castle and later rebuilt it. The castle is not open to the public.

Schloss Aschbach, auch Freiherrlich v. Pölnitzsches Schloss genannt, ist ein barockes Schloss der Familie Pölnitz in Aschbach, einem Stadtteil der oberfränkischen Stadt Schlüsselfeld. Die Anlage umfasst einen Gebäudekomplex mit Höfen, Wohngebäuden, Stallungen und Scheunen. Das Schloss, sein Park und einige Nebengebäude stehen unter Denkmalschutz.

Geschichte

Am heutigen Standort stand schon vor dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg ein Schloss, das im Besitz eines Zweiges der Familie Pölnitz war. Es brannte während des Krieges völlig aus. General Hieronymus Christoph von Pölnitz, der 1670 von Kaiser Leopold I. in den Freiherrenstand erhoben worden war, erwarb das Gelände 1652 von einem anderen Familienzweig und ließ das Schloss zwischen 1677 und 1697 unter Einbeziehung stehen gebliebener Fundamente und Mauern in seiner heutigen Form wieder aufbauen. Unter Marquard Karl Christoph Freiherr von Pölnitz, Ritterhauptmann des Kantons Steigerwald, erfolgte im frühen 18. Jahrhundert die barocke Ausgestaltung des Inneren. Größere Renovierungsarbeiten fanden von 1896 bis 1904 statt, eine weitere Renovierung wurde 1976 durchgeführt.

Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs waren in Schloss Aschbach Gemälde und andere Kunstgegenstände verschiedener Museen eingelagert, beispielsweise aus Kassel und Bamberg, unter anderem auch Werke der Sammlung Hildebrand Gurlitt, die später als Schwabinger Kunstfund bekannt wurden. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg diente das Schloss als DP-Lager zur vorübergehenden Unterbringung jüdischer Polen, die nach Israel auswandern wollten und zur Vorbereitung auf ihre zukünftigen Aufgaben im Kibbuz eine Ausbildung in Land- und Milchwirtschaft erhielten. 1948 wurde das Lager geschlossen und das Schloss der Familie Pölnitz zurückgegeben.

Seit den 1980er Jahren züchtete Nicolaus von Pölnitz auf dem Gelände des Schlosses Falken in großem Stil, die er zur Beizjagd trainierte und an Falkner verkaufte, besonders in arabische Staaten. So hielt er 2003 80 Altfalken mit welchen er 90 Jungfalken züchtete. Da er bei der Falkenzucht auch Gerfalken mit Sakerfalken kreuzte, kam es 2010 zu einem Gerichtsverfahren wegen der 2005 neu gefassten Bundesartenschutzverordnung, die zum Schutz heimischer Arten das Halten solcher Greifvogel-Hybriden verbietet. Die Frage, ob Sakerfalken überhaupt noch eine in Deutschland heimische Art sind, musste wegen des zwischenzeitlichen Todes der fraglichen Tiere jedoch nicht mehr geklärt werden, und das Verfahren wurde eingestellt.

Schloss Aschbach

Castle Reichmannsdorf was built in 1714 on behalf of the family von Schrottenberg. The baroque façade of the castle clearly suggests that it contributes an exciting story with them. In its 300 years of history Castle Reichmannsdorf has already produced many strong personalities.

1642 the so-called Truchsess-Castle was destroyed by fire. Johann Dientzenhofer built in its place 1714 until 1719, according to the plans of his brother Leonhard, for Wolf Philipp von Schrottenberg a Castle as a three-wing building with an richly decorated face side, a tall mansard divided roof and a powerful crest gable.

The village Reichmannsdorf was mentioned already in 1303. Wolf Philipp von Schrottenberg bought in the late 17th century a large part of the community hall. From Thuringian porcelain painter Gottlieb Ehrengott Gottrecht was established with the support from family von Schrottenberg a porcelain manufaktory that existed from 1790 until 1867.

Schloss Reichmannsdorf

Das Schloss Schwarzenberg ist ein Schloss bei Scheinfeld im fränkischen Steigerwald. Der bauliche Ursprung des Schlosses war eine mittelalterliche Wehranlage, die später in ein repräsentatives Schloss umgebaut wurde. Der Ursprung der Burg ist noch gut zu erkennen: Wehrhafte Wälle, Kasematten und Wehrtürme zeugen noch vom einstigen Zweck. Der verzierte Palas des Schlosses steht auch aus Sicht der andersartigen Architektur in einem deutlichen Kontrast.

Geschichte

1150 erfolgte die erste urkundliche Erwähnung einer Burganlage, die sich im Besitz der Grafen zu Castell befand. Diese Annahme ist aber nicht unumstritten, denn es kann sich bei der Urkunde auch um die Burg Schwarzenburg bei Waldmünchen handeln. Gesichert ist dagegen die Existenz einer edelfreien Familie von 1215–1235, die mit einem kranken Domherrn 1250 in Würzburg endet. Wenig später tritt die Burg erstmals in der Casteller Erbteilungsurkunde um 1258/1265 in Erscheinung; der Turm wird 1274 genannt.

1405–1421: Nach Besitz durch die Familien von Hohenlohe und von Vestenberg erwarb Ritter Erkinger VI. von Seinsheim, Ahnherr des Hauses Schwarzenberg, die Burg.

1607 kam es zur Zerstörung der mittelalterlichen Burg durch ein Feuer.

1608–1618: Graf Wolfgang Jacob von Schwarzenberg zu Hohenlandsberg ließ die Burg als Schloss im Stil der Renaissance wiederaufbauen. Der bekannte Augsburger Stadtbaumeister Elias Holl erstellte die Entwürfe, die Bauausführung lag bei den Nürnberger Baumeistern Jakob Wolff, Vater und Sohn. Die Innenausstattung wurde nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg erneuert.

Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg wurde Schloss Schwarzenberg ebenso wie Scheinfeld und Oberscheinfeld ab Herbst 1631 von schwedischen Kleinverbänden geplündert.

1646 fiel der Adelssitz nach dem Tod des Grafen Georg Ludwig von Schwarzenberg zu Hohenlandsberg wieder an die so genannte niederländische (die künftig fürstliche) Linie des Hauses Schwarzenberg.

1670–1674: Aus Anlass der Erhebung des Hauses Schwarzenberg in den Reichsfürsten-Stand wurde als letzter Bauteil der „Schwarze Turm“ erbaut. Er markiert den höchsten Gebäudeteil des Schlosses.

17. Jahrhundert: Das Haus Schwarzenberg verlagerte den Schwerpunkt seiner Herrschaft nach Wien und Böhmen, das Schloss blieb jedoch bis 1806 Sitz der Regierung und Verwaltung der reichsunmittelbaren fürstlichen Grafschaft Schwarzenberg. Das königlich bayerische Herrschaftsgericht Schwarzenberg in Scheinfeld bestand von 1814 bis 1848. Es war anschließend bis 1852 königlich bayerische Gerichts- und Polizeibehörde, dann Landgericht.

Unter Fürst Adolph Joseph (1832–1914) wurde das Schloss von 1900 bis 1902 umfassend saniert.

Auf dem Schloss befand sich die Schwarzenbergische Brauerei, deren Betreiber Wilhelm Holzwarth ( 1875) 1928 in Uffenheim das Uffenheimer Tageblatt gründete.

1940: Die Nationalsozialisten beschlagnahmten das Schloss und richteten eine Gauschulungsburg ein. Gegen Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurden deutsche Flüchtlinge einquartiert.

1945–1949: Bei ihrem Vorstoß nach Nürnberg besetzte die US-Armee das Schloss und nutze es als Lazarett. Ca. 1000 Flüchtlingen aus dem Baltikum bot es als Behelfsquartier der UNO vorübergehend eine Unterkunft.

1986: Das Dokumentationszentrum zur Förderung der unabhängigen tschechoslowakischen Literatur zog in das Schloss ein. Für diesen Zweck ließ Karl zu Schwarzenberg Räume im Schloss einrichten. Im Schloss entstand auch ein kleiner Verlag zum Drucken von Untergrundliteratur.

2015 begann eine Renovierung von Schloss Schwarzenberg.

Heutige Nutzung

Karl zu Schwarzenberg, der von 2007 bis 2009 und von 2010 bis 2013 Außenminister Tschechiens war und Oberhaupt des Adelshauses ist, bewohnt zeitweise das Schloss. Im Schloss betrieb die Mathilde-Zimmer-Stiftung früher ein privates Mädchen-Gymnasium und führt heute eine private Real- und Fachoberschule, deren Schüler teilweise außerhalb der Schlossmauern in einem Internat untergebracht sind. Es werden Führungen durch das Schloss angeboten. Über das Gelände des Schlosses verläuft der Fränkische Marienweg.



Schloss Schwarzenberg

The Ullstadt palace complex in Ullstadt , Markt Sugenheim in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district , was built in the 18th century according to plans by Johann Dientzenhofer and is now owned by the Barons von und zu Frankenstein .

Johann Peter von Franckenstein acquired the Ullstädter Schloss from the distressed family of the Barons von Seckendorff . From 1718 to 1725 a new moated castle, today's main castle, was built according to plans by Johann Dientzenhofer on the site of the old castle. The builder was the widow Margarethe von Franckenstein, nee by Eyb. Above the entrance door of the main castle is the family coat of arms of the von Franckensteins family with the symbols of those of Cleen (three combined clovers) and those of Sachsenhausen (a helmet) as well as the coat of arms of the Eyb family (three scallops). The two side wings, built by the master builder and architect Johann Jakob Michael Küchel , go back to the sons of Margarethes von Franckenstein, Johann Philipp Anton , Prince-Bishop of Bamberg, and Johann Philipp Ludwig Ignaz von Frankenstein , Canon of Würzburg, who built a summer residence here . Ferdinand Tietz , Bamberg court sculptor, made the plastic decorations and figures.

The main castle still serves as the home of the von Franckenstein family. After going through the front door you come to the reception hall. The individual living rooms and the house chapel are arranged around an inner courtyard. The blue room, the leather room and the mirror room are on the upper floor. All rooms have extensive wall and ceiling stucco showing the family coat of arms and stucco paintings. The side wings served partly as stables.

Of the six pillars at the castle entrance, the inner ones bear a crowned lion holding a prince-bishop's coat of arms. They stood at the entrance of the Reuther Tores in Forchheim until the fortress walls were razed (1875) . When the gate structures were dismantled, Baron von Franckenstein acquired the well-made sculptures for his Ullstadt castle. The other posts have trophy sculptures.

Schlossanlage Ullstadt

Schloss Weißenstein is a Schloss or palatial residence in Pommersfelden, Bavaria, southern Germany. It was designed for Lothar Franz von Schönborn, Prince-Bishop of Bamberg and Archbishop of Mainz, to designs by Johann Dientzenhofer and Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. Weißenstein, built as a private summer residence, remains in the Schönborn family. It is considered a masterwork of Baroque art.

Schloss Weißenstein is located in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg in the village of Pommersfelden, Bavaria, Germany.

In 1710, Lothar Franz von Schönborn, Prince-Bishop of Bamberg and Archbishop of Mainz, inherited the estate after the local family, the Truchsesse of Pommersfelden had died out. He ordered the construction of a palace as a private summer residence, paid for from his personal wealth. In 1711, he had helped ensure the election of Karl VI who rewarded him with a gift of 100,000 gulden. A team of architects including Johann Dientzenhofer who had previously built the Fulda Cathedral and the church at Kloster Banz and Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt, the court architect of Emperor Karl VI, worked on the palace. The Marstall (stables) and park were designed by Schönborn's own court architect, Maximilian von Welsch. Anselm Franz von Ritter zu Groenesteyn designed many of the outbuildings. The local head of construction was the Jesuit priest Nikolaus Loyson (1676–1720).

The palace was built between 1711 and 1719 from local sandstone materials, the colour of which gave rise to the name of the palace ("white stone"). The grand stairway was the first such structure built in the Baroque style in Germany. The interior art was finished in 1723. Contributors included Johann Michael Rottmayr, Johann Rudolf Byss and Giovanni Francesco Marchini (de).

After the death of Lothar Franz in 1729, the palace passed to his nephew Friedrich Karl von Schönborn who had the park expanded. A plan by Balthasar Neumann was however, only partially realized. In the early 19th century, the park was transformed from its original Baroque form into an English landscape garden.

During the Seven Years' War the palace was attacked and damaged by Prussian troops.

Minor restoration work was done in the late 19th century. More recently, preservation work has been done between 1975 and 2003.

The main building (corps de logis) is flanked by two wings that open towards the inner courtyard by way of arcades. In the direction of this cour d'honneur the central part of the main building extends quite noticeably, to accommodate the large central staircase. The middle pavilion of the main wing sits on a pedestal-like ground floor and features two full upper floors with high windows. The other parts of the building have only one main floor and one mezzanine floor, with the exception of the pavilions sitting at the end of the two wings, which have two main floors and one mezzanine floor (the latter housing the guest rooms). All the facades are covered by light gray sandstone, sculptures and window frames are made from yellow-greenish sandstone.

The triangular gable of the main building on the garden front with its coat of arms of the Schönborns has been carved from the same material. Colossal statues of Endymion and Diana flank the gable. It is ornamented by two figures, one holding a sheaf, the other a horn of plenty. All of these were likely made by Nikolaus Rösch. The gable is topped by a statue of Atlas holding up the sky.

The gable facing the cour d'honneur also has the family coat of arms, flanked by lions and crowned by Mercury. To the left is a figure of Athena, a symbol of peace and science, to the right is a warrior with spear and torch, symbolizing the just-ended War of the Spanish Succession. The gable also shows a lute player and a figure holding another Schönborn coat of arms.

There are four sculpture groups (sandstone) in front of the ground floor of the main pavilion, two each on the garden and the courtyard side. They were likely made by Burkard Zammels, who worked here in 1718-20. On the garden front, the statues show Pluto and Proserpina on the left and Apollo and Daphne on the right. On the cour d'honneur side, the figures are somewhat obscure and have been interpreted as allegories of Justice & Victory and Vigilance & Truth. A carved dog wears a collar with the initials "LFC", referring to the builder, Lothar Franz Churfürst.

The grand staircase extends through all three floors of the main pavilion. As suggested by Hildebrandt, galleries overlook the stairwell on both upper floors. The large ceiling fresco by Johann Rudolf Byss (1713), who later became the director of the palace gallery of paintings, shows the four then known continents, around a central sun wagon of Phoebus Apollo. Sculptures (Jupiter, Juno, Urania and Cosmos) were made by Zammels. The vases, putti and pair of children are by P. Benkert and his workshop. Stucco work was done by Daniel Schenk. Painted railings that extend the real architectural features are by Marchini.

He also was responsible for Trompe-l'œil work in the Gartensaal flight of rooms on the ground floor, accessed between the two flights of stairs. His work is in evidence in both side halls. To the west he created an image of Ionic columns flanking views of an ideal Italian landscape under a sky populated by Flora and Pomona floating on clouds. To the east, painted columns give views of angels who face a "collapsing" entryway. The central hall has a ceiling fresco showing the allegorical "times of the day" by Johann Jakob Gerbhardt. The room had been turned into a grotto by Georg Hennicke, who applied semi-precious stones and seashells to the walls. He also added various animal and putti figures. The four larger-than-life stucco statues of the four elements were made by Zammels.

On the first floor is the main hall of the palace, the Marmorsaal (marble hall), also facing the garden. Pilasters and columns of red stucco marble are set off from green walls. Situated on sills are stucco figurines by Zammels, showing allegories of the Turkish and Persian monarchies on the inner wall and of the Roman and Greek monarchies on the outer wall. In the corners, the Four Ages are depicted. The ceiling fresco by Franz Michael Rottmayr shows Aurora greeted by Juno, Venus and Dionysus. In the center of each wall a virtue is shown: Justice, Strength, Industry and Wisdom. Stucco work by Daniel Schenk shows putti, vases and eagles.

The right wing contains the palace gallery of paintings and its library, with stucco work by D. Schenk and G. Hennicke after 1713. Schönborn had collected a large number of paintings by contemporary artists, many of them Dutch, that were hung in up to four vertical rows, completely covering the gallery walls. He especially treasured painting of members of his family, of the Habsburgs and other rulers and rare animal motives. Schönborn also collected East Asian porcelain delivered to him en masse by members of the Jesuits whom he supported. Other collections include Faiences made in Delft, glass and sea shells.

The palace chapel features three important works of art: an Italian Lamentation of Christ (17th century), a Man of Sorrows from Spain (ca. 1730) and a late-Gothic Mother of God.

The Marstall is located to the south of the cour d'honneur and is connected to the side wings of the palace by wrought-iron railings. Built by Johann Dientzendorffer based on plans by Maximilian von Welsch 1714-7 it has a concave front facing the courtyard. It was constructed with one floor less than originally intended. The Marstall features double columns adorning the central part which is topped by a clock tower. Below this is an oval hall, the ceiling with a fresco of Perseus and Andromeda by G.F. Marchini.

Construction of the formal garden was begun by von Welsch in 1715. After 1722, on the suggestion of his nephew Friedrich Carl, Schönborn summoned Abraham Huber from Salzburg, who by 1723 had the fountains running. The statuary was added only after Lothar Franz' death in 1741. The linden avenue was planted in 1768 with 200 linden trees from the Aischer Wald. Transformation of the formal Baroque garden into an English landscape garden began as early as 1786 under Hugo Damian Erwein von Schönborn-Wiesentheid (de) and was completed in the 19th century.

The Schloss remains the property of the Schönborn family. It is considered a Baroque masterwork and the combination of exterior and well-preserved interiors gives it European importance.

The palace and its park are open to the public. The Marstall and Orangerie today house a hotel (currently closed).

The palace contains the largest private Baroque art collection in Germany, containing over 600 pictures. Baroque and Renaissance artists represented include Peter Paul Rubens, Albrecht Dürer, Titian, Rembrandt and Anthony van Dyck.

Schloss Weißenstein

Schon bei der Einweihung des Alten Schloßes nach dem Abschluß der Renovierung 1983 war in einem Teil des 1. Obergeschosses neben einer Sammlung von historischen Militaria auch eine private Spielzeugsammlung ausgestellt worden, die jedoch über Jahre hinweg nur bei besonderen Schloßführungen zu sehen war. Die übrigen Räume im 1. Obergeschoß wurden von der Firma Kube geschäftlich genutzt. Nach der Renovierung des ehem. Pferdestalles wurde das Nutzungskonzept "Spielzeugmuseum" im Alten Schloß in vollem Umfang möglich, da nun für das Museum das ganze 1. Obergeschoß zur Verfügung stand. 1988 wurde das Spielzeugmuseum im Alten Schloß mit zunächst vier Ausstellungsräumen eröffnet und in den folgenden Jahren auf nun gesamt dreizehn Räume erweitert, wobei in acht Räumen Spielzeug zu sehen sind, während die übrigen Räume das Schloßmuseum mit Wohnräumen und Hauskapelle bilden. Das Spielzeugmuseum zeigt in über 30 großen Vitrinen Puppen, Puppenstuben und -küchen mit Zubehör, die das tägliche Leben vergangener Zeit im Kleinen darstellen; dazu Spiele für drinnen und draußen, Eisenbahnen, Schaukelpferde, Holzspielzeug, Zinn- und Bleisoldaten, Kinderuniformen, Baukästen, Tretautos, Blechspielzeug, optisches Spielzeug und vieles mehr, einen Zeitraum von ungefähr 1780 bis 1950 umfassend.

Altes Schloss (Sugenheim) (Inneres Schloss)

Lisberg castle - one of the oldest castles in Franconia – was first mentioned in an historical document in 820. Being in possession of the Babenberger family – earls of the region – it has been used as a sanctuary for the people of the Region. Lisberg castle belonged to the Catholic prince bishops of Bamberg and the protestant Markgraves of Ansbach at the same time. Whenever necessary, the people of Lisberg simply changed sides and then evaded destruction, which was the fate of all other 31 castles in the Steigerwald area. The oldest building of the castle is the romantic donjon and the dark awesome prison. The internal castle gate is also of Romanic style. The womens’ house is in Gothic style and the palace is in Renaissance style, built around 1600. The most beautiful rooms are the large kitchen and the great hall which was redesigned by Otto Philipp von Muenster in the year 1776. During the last centuries many noble families occupied the castle. The most important lords of the castle were the Freiherrn of Muenster. Mr. Hans Fischer bought the castle from the last owners of noble origin in 1968 and renovated and revived it with passion and good craftsmanship. Shortly before Hans Fischer's death in 2016 he managed to sell his castle to Johann Sebök, a Bamberg auctioneer and antiques dealer, who now has great new ideas and concepts for this landmark castle.

Lisberg castle

Adelsdorf is a municipality in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt, in Bavaria, Germany.

The key refers to the Lords of Schlüsselberg who were prominent in the area before they died out in the Middle Ages. The beaver refers to the Bibra family which had the castle of Adelsdorf from 1687 until 1993.

Hoheneck Castle is a medieval castle above Ipsheim and also a district of the municipality of Ipsheim in the Landkreis Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim in Middle Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. Since 1984, the youth castle serves as an educational institution of the Youth Council of the city of Nuremberg.

History

Hoheneck was first mentioned in 1132.

The City of Nuremberg acquired the castle in 1953 and it is the only castle owned by the city, as the Nuremberg Castle is owned by the Free State of Bavaria. Since April 1984 the Youth Castle serves as a youth education centre for the Youth Council of Kreis Nuremberg.

In 2007 the castle celebrated its 875th anniversary.
