The Castillo de la Monclova was rectangular and consisted of rectangular keeps of which ruins have been preserved in the north and east sectors. Despite having been thoroughly remodeled during past works, the oldest ruins preserved from this castle date back to the 14th century, those being the donjon and three of the fortified area’s curtains. The donjon is rectangular, consisting of two superimposed chambers and a roof with a parapet and capped merlons. This tower was probably originally solid, but it currently holds the palace’s main stairway. A pointed arch gateway, supported by columns and containing family shields in its corners, provides entrance to the castle. There is a ceramic label that states that it was finished in 1668. The entrance leads to a large patio surrounded on three sides by semicircular arches supported by columns with shields of the Order of Our Lady of Mercy in their corners. The chapel today demonstrates the Castilian tendency of the 16th century, originating from the castle of Viñuelas, Madrid, which was owned by the Duke of the Infantado. El castillo de la Monclova es un edificio ubicado en el municipio español de Fuentes de Andalucía, perteneciente a la provincia de Sevilla, en Andalucía. Cuenta con el estatus de bien de interés cultural y su origen se hallaría en torno al siglo xiv, si bien ha experimentado diversas remodelaciones.
