The first mention of the fortress Suchomasty is from 1473. The chateau built on the site of a former fortress was probably built by Count Václav from Bubna in the first half of 18th century. The castle is surrounded by an English castle park, founded in the 1st half 19th century. In 1918 the castle was reconstructed. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia by the German army in 1939, the castle passed to the German administration. After the war the chateau was confiscated and served as a retirement home for older members of the Unity of Czech Brethren. Obec Suchomasty se uvádí již v 11. stol. První zmínka o tvrzi v této obci je však až z roku 1473. Vlastní zámek postavil na místě bývalé tvrze nejspíše hrabě Václav z Bubna v první polovině 18. stol. V okolí zámku je anglický park, založený v 1. polovině 19. stol. V roce 1918 byl zámek rekonstruován. V roce 1939 byl zabrán pod německou správu, po válce zkonfiskován a nejprve sloužil jako domov pro starší příslušníky Jednoty českých bratří, později byl využíván jako domov důchodců a dnes je v něm Ústav pro mentálně postižené děti. http://hrady.cz/
