Kula Greceanu is located in Măldăreşti village and is part of the Măldăreşti Museum Complex, together with kula Duca and I.G. Duca memorial house. The manor was erected on the place of an older building which is said to have been constructed by Captain Tudor Maldăr, in the 17th century. It was inherited by paharnicul (minister) Atanasie, the captain’s son who made alterations to the manor.
The present day building dates back to the 18th century, when the old kula was rebuilt by Master Gheorghe Măldărescu and his wife Eva. The manor is characteristic for the kula architecture, due to its specific morphology with thick outer walls, few small openings and a reduced built area. In the 19th century, the manor was inherited by Greceanu family and underwent its first restoration process, conducted by the owners Nicolae and Olga Greceanu.
After 1948, the manor was converted into a museum and still keeps this use today, even after the property was reclaimed and obtained by the rightful heirs. The current shape of the manor is a result of the restoration process undertaken by Greceanu family in the interwar period, but also of the subsequent one in the 1960s.
