Description

The fortress was built in 1692 on the isthmus between the rivers Dniester and Zbruch to block the way to Kamenetz-Podolsk, occupied by Turkish troops in 1672 ..

  However, since 1699, after the liberation from Turkish oppression skirts fortification lost its defensive significance and decline.

 

By strengthening the planning configuration close to an irregular quadrangle formed by two lines of embankments located on the eastern and western sides of the isthmus, and the walls of the sentinel towers that ran along the steep rocky river banks. Western and Oriental line of defense had two pivbastiony and entry gates, Lviv and Kam'yaneckoy have survived to this day.

 

Bunk fortified gate, built of stone, sandstone on the second level have been adapted for defense and equipped with loopholes in the walls. In Lviv gate remained vmurovana slab with an inscription that fortress Trenches Trinity built Crown Hetman Stanisław Jan Jablonski in the time of King Jan III Sobieski in 1692 Marble flooring in Kam'yanec suggests that the castle was restored at the expense of the region and the efforts of conservative attractions Mieczyslaw Borkowski in 1905
