  Building fortifications began in 1475 Bratslav elder Prince Michael Czartoryski. At the end of the XV century. son Michael Czartoryski Theodore, mayor of Lutsk, rebuilt wooden fortifications built before: two Murovanye lifted and a wooden tower, the walls surrounded by a moat and rampart.

 

The castle was irregular; planning its configuration close to the triangle, to some extent repeated perimeter previous wooden building. Construction of the castle was completed in 1561 In addition to upgrading towers, composite bridge across the moat was replaced with a brick tryarkovyy. Along the perimeter of the castle walls built Murovanye house and erected in the castle yard having three peaks typical wooden church.

 

In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries .. Castle suffered repeated destruction; Dr. Tatar sieges and Polish-Cossack armed conflict. With the loss of defensive functions for a long time (until 1773) the castle was transferred to the Jesuit order who founded it in college. In 1817, Prince Constantine Czartoryski renovated castle opened it a Polish school. Subsequently, there was located seminary. Castle caused considerable damage shelling in 1915 during the First World War.

 

From ancient castle to have survived devastated North and South towers, remnants of defensive walls, forming the north-west corner of the castle, and the arched bridge. Powerful fifth in terms of towers, significantly in favor of the line of defense walls have been preserved to a height of four storeys.
