Description

The castle is situated on gentle slopes near the banks of the Seret River, it was built in the early XVII century. on the site of an ancient fortification as a family castle barons Holskyi ...

From the middle of XVII century. castle became the property of the Potocki , who was attached to and strengthened it. Subsequently, the Turks captured the castle . In 1683 Andrew Potocki failed to dislodge them and rebuild the castle.

 

At the beginning of XVIII century. castle lost its defensive value and is used as a dwelling, and eventually turns into a ruin.

 

For this configuration planning Polygonal formation, close to the correct pentagon. Along the high walls lined with local sandstone from the castle yard were Attached residential and commercial buildings with basements. Entrance Gate located in the north wall of the castle. Next to the gate , along the western wall contained a two-story palace with an arcade gallery in two tiers. It sided angular , protruding far beyond the line of defensive walls and square in plan pentagonal tower. In the XVIII century. between the towers on the outside terrace was constructed , the lower part is solved as an arcade.

 

From the palaces and towers to have survived the remains of the walls. Fragments of walls and traces of another tower - north, triangular in plan, which is adjoined to the south-west wall enclosure.
