 The castle was built by the governor of Bratslav Michał Jerzy Czartoryski 1659. In 1672 and 1676 the castle suffered damage during the war with the Turks. After rebuilding has played an important role during the Polish-Turkish war in 1685-1691, respectively. It was the easternmost fortress of the Commonwealth on the right bank of the Dniester. At the time of the Moldavian campaigns Jan III Sobieski castle was the site of storage of provisions and forage. Several times he stopped here Sobieski.

 

The castle was very tall shestymetrovi wall thickness of 2.5 m, four bastions, sharp corners lifted beyond the walls, square tower, which is strictly set up on entrance gate.
