Originally a fortified Renaissance manor house, built on older, probably medieval foundations, is located in the village of Zemianske Kostoľany in the Hornonitrianska basin, 5 km south of Nováky
The three-winged building is characterized by smooth walls with a high attic and corner towers, which are at the same height as the attic of the building. The entrance portal had the original drawbridge. The side entrance has a disturbed tympanum. There are barrel vaults with lunettes in the rooms. In 2015, the manor underwent a comprehensive renovation. Exterior and interior plasters were modified, windows, doors, floors were replaced, sanitary facilities were built in it and sanitary ware was installed. The manor offers the opportunity to see an exhibition on the history of Zemianske Kostoľany.
The manor house was built around 1600 on older foundations, later modified, but retained the typical Renaissance elements. It was built as its family seat on the site of a family manor, called Kozakovská, by members of the Kostolányi family, who moved here from the original family castle in today's Kamenec pod Vtáčnikom in the 15th century.
Part of the two-storey building with two corner towers remained from the originally four-tower fortified manor house. After the confiscation of the Kostolányi family's property in the 1950s, flats were created in it, and for several years only a part of its premises was used, including a wedding room.
According to historian Jozef Žiak, the extensive reconstruction in 2015 also included additional monument research, which refuted the original assumptions about the failure to complete the southern wing. According to new knowledge, the foundations of the manor continued, and archival research confirmed that later restorations of this building were after 1723, when it was completed to the stage it is in today.
At present, there is a municipal museum in the manor house and part of the manor house is used as a ceremonial hall for the needs of the village.
