We pass through the village of Moravany nad Váhom on the Piešťanská road, which then changes into Kostelecká street. The manor is located just off the road. From the main road we turn in front of the manor house to Kaštieľská street, where there is a smaller parking lot.
Description

The manor house has a medieval origin and consisted of two separate buildings, consolidated by a Renaissance reconstruction at the end of the 16th century, which was also decisive for its present appearance. These manor buildings are finished with a high arched attic and enclose a courtyard. In the 18th century, the building was remodeled in the Baroque style and the Csáky family had a chapel built on the site of the eastern bastion. Major alterations to the manor also took place in the second half of the 19th century, when a third floor was built into the attic space and a tower was added on the east side. Stucco ornaments of geometric and plant patterns are a typical element on the vaults of the representative spaces on the ground floor. The manor house currently has a rectangular floor plan and three floors. Along the edges of the building there is a square tower, a polygonal tower and a corner arch. The building is divided by flat pilasters. In 2017, the manor house was acquired by a new owner, who began with reconstruction.

History

The manor house was built at the end of the 16th century. It was probably built by the Thurz family or Bishop Imrich Csáky. This is where the information differs. The building consisted of separate buildings, which were merged by renaissance reconstruction in this period. In the 18th century, the building was remodeled in the Baroque style, and during the Rákóczi uprising, the Csáky family had a chapel built on the site of the demolished eastern bastion. Even in the 18th century, the Motešice family (owners in the female line related to the Mednyánszkovs) became the owners of the Moravian manor house.

Relatively large alterations to the manor took place in the second half of the 19th century. In 1881, they built the third floor and added a tower on the east side. From 1881 to 1945, the manor belonged to the Zettwitz family. After the war, the building served as a nursery and was also used by the Czechoslovak State Forests.

In 1962, it was acquired by the Slovak Fund for Fine Arts and the rooms of the building were used for accommodation and studios. In the years 1964 - 1970, the manor house was restored for the Home of Slovak Fine Artists and Architects, still under the administration of the Slovak Fine Arts Fund. In 2006, the fund sold the manor to the Art Hotel. Many events and weddings took place there.

Shortly after the purchase, however, the manor house was sold to two Slovenes. For a while it still functioned as a hotel, but the owners became indebted and ignored the requirements of the monument office and left the manor to decay for many years. Therefore, in 2012, the Regional Monuments Office submitted to the building authority a proposal for the expropriation of the building. However, this did not happen in the end. In 2017, it was acquired by a new owner, Juris Doctor, who began security work. Despite the ongoing reconstruction, the manor is open to the public during various events.
