How to get there
Road no. 507 passes through the village of Kotešová, where we park in front of the bridge over the Hričovský canal. There is a relatively large space next to the main road at the bus stop and the sales stand directly opposite the manor house. From there we walk down the street a few meters and reach the manor house from the other side.
Description

The monument research documents an almost intact late medieval, originally Gothic manor house from the end of the 15th century, rebuilt at the end of the 16th century. It is a block two-room building, two-storey with two corner towers with different floor plans. This stage of development corresponds to small rectangular windows on the towers with a sloping side, which ends in the lower third with a roof ramp, a brick saddle portal in the interior of the tower with a bottom plan and key shooting with stone and plaster lining on the towers on both floors. An interesting finding of two brick portals with a broken arch in the lintel, which led from both sides to the narrower of the two areas of the ground floor and testify to its passage function. The beams of the wooden ceilings partly extended over the wall and, together with other wooden consoles, formed an outer porch, which, in addition to the square tower, surrounded the entire perimeter of the manor and also provided the entrance to the first floor. In the next stage of development, some Renaissance elements were added in style, vaults in all areas, larger stone rectangular windows with a bar and a window ledge of oblique profile on the facades of the living area and a representative stone portal from the upper hall to the living space. The vaults of the ground floor have lunettes with massive ridges, which form a bolt at the top, and on the first floor there are targets at the top with a painted solar rosette. Stone paving of irregular sandstone slabs and a fireplace with a stone slab on the consoles have been preserved. The extension, which extended the building on the west side and determined its current dimensions and relationship, dates from the 19th century. The fortress character of the building (towers, shooting ranges) is rather symbolic and did not allow for a more serious defense. The already mentioned Renaissance reconstruction was connected with the magnificent pattern of the castle in Bytča with a gauge, a stone Renaissance portal and a medieval color range of painted rosettes on the targets of the vaults, which were replaced by a stucco Italian pattern.

History

The original Gothic building was built at the end of the 15th century by the original defenders of the border zone. It was the seat of the lower aristocratic nobility of the Kotešov family, later the Príleský family. There was a moat around. In 1546, the manor house was bought from Felix Príleský Juraj Hrabovský, who rebuilt it in the Renaissance style at the end of the 16th century. In the second half of the 19th century, half of the building was demolished and a new section with flat ceilings and higher floors was built.

One of the last owners of the manor was Irena Ballayová, who died in 1964. The manor was already in a catastrophic condition in the 1970s. The village later had a library in it.

A partial reconstruction took place in 1983 and since it has been in private hands, the owner has completely renovated it in 2008.
