Description
The ruins of the castle of the Teutonic Knights on Lake Sztum. It was built in the years 1326-1335 on the set of a polygon with two towers in the place where previously there was a mansion. Until 1410, when it fell into the hands of Polish, was the seat of mayor of the Teutonic Knights. After the Thirteen Years' War, in the years 1468-1772 became the seat of Polish mayors. Destroyed during the Swedish wars in the seventeenth century. Was partially demolished by the Prussian authorities. Survived two wings rebuilt in the nineteenth century, prison tower, gate and perimeter walls.
