Description
The ruins of the episcopal castle on the Black Przemsza. Built by the Duke of Cieszyn John in the fourteenth century. Irregular plan. Fortified in the fifteenth century. Rebuilt and expanded by the Bishops of Krakow during the sixteenth century. Possessed trzykondygnacjowe wings surrounding the courtyard, hexagonal tower and a moat. Was the site of the episcopal courts. In 1655. Was in the Stefan Czarnecki. During the partitions first in the hands of Austria, then Russia. Abandoned in the nineteenth century. Preserved stone and brick walls of the castle with elements of Gothic and Renaissance architecture and the tower.
