Pieniny Castle is the highest Polish fortress. Today, only ruins - a fortification wall of about 90 meters in length, the outline of a square tower or the chambers, and the remains of a caged tank, were used to collect water from the already dried St. Kinga. It really does not take into account the monumental historical figure of the castle. Its history dates back to the second half of the 13th century. According to legend, Boleslaw himself was embarrassed for his wife Kinga. It is said that this sheltered here in 1287 before the tatar storm.

Numerous legends have been circulating about the castle. This is about the hidden treasure in his ruins. In the course of archaeological research discovered other valuable treasures. These are, among others. Fragments of the ancient floor, bones of the turn, fragments of pottery or arrowheads. Interestingly, its walls were built of local calcium. The building itself could be wooden. He often wrote about the castle. Jan Długosz. It is from his texts that we can learn a lot about the building itself and its history. Długosz is associated with, among others. Legend about the siege of the castle and the prayers of Princess Kinga storm, which scattered the attackers. Pieniny Castle was known outside of Poland in the 17th and 18th centuries. At that time, it was given in geographic studies as an example of a prominent defensive fortification building. In 1894 the Tatra Society set the road to the castle, which in 1906 was marked with paint. In 1904, the hermitage built a hermitage. It was the hermits who were the greatest attraction of this part of the Pieniny. The last one was Wincenty Kasprowicz, who lived here in 1924. It was a controversial figure and an interesting expression. He was dressed in alberta habits, slept at the coffin age, led a very modest life. He earned mainly souvenir on them. When in 1949 the hermit consumed the fire, there was no need to rebuild it again. The path created by the hermit before the First World War on the ridge of the Castle Mountains leads from the ruins of the castle. In 1995, however, it was excluded from tourism.
