The first information about the defense office in Oporów comes from 1418 years. The reference is fortalice, which was owned by Nicholas Chamberlain łęczycki Oporowski Sulima. Probably the site of the present castle existed then four-sided tower on a site surrounded by a moat. Jan Dlugosz as the founder of the castle mentions Oporowski Ladislaus, who had him soar in the years 1434-1449, but research carried out at the castle since the eighties of the twentieth century by Janusz TOMAL and Janusz Pietrzak show that already in the early fifteenth century the tower was incorporated in the circuit of defensive walls . The planned construction of a dwelling house at the eastern curtain has not been realized. But he had already before the year 1434 will also be a residential house. The entrance to the castle ran in the western curtain wall, with a four-sided tower. This tower at the time had three floors and has a cellar.

Wladyslaw Oporowski rebuilt the castle. It was erected in his time present south wing and a tower in the middle of the length of the eastern wall, which placed on the upper storey chapel. The castle had even one wing, the north, but it was wooden, and after a short period has been cut.

Subsequent work has not been substantially changed the appearance of the castle. After the Second World War the castle was restored worrying about the behavior of Gothic design.
