The building of the castle in Dobra began the most probably in the 80s of the XIIIth cent. In 1290 the brick buildings were supposed to stand at this place, and before 1308 the circular walls arose too. That year the original foundation was destroyed by the Brandenburgers and remained in ruin for around 20 years. In 1338 the owner of those lands became Ulryk Dewitz and along with his successors he rebuilt and enlarged the castle.
The conversion from 1540 initiated by Jost Dewitz metamorphosed the castle into the Renaissance mansion. In the XVIIIth cent. the castle was abandoned, which led it to such a condition that in 1808 the then owner of the estate blew up the part of the walls. Since then the castle has been in ruin.
