The castle in Bychawa arose in the first half of the XVIth cant. in the place of three manors belonging to the Bychawskis. It was built by Mikołaj Pilecki who repurchased the place from the Bychawskis before the year 1521. In 1537 received the civic rights, and 2 years later the construction of the castle began. In 1551 the castle changed hands – the family of the Myszkowskis from Pinczów became them. The subsequent owners over a span of the centuries repeatedly converted the castle transforming it into a magnificent palace, which ultimately deteriorated so much that in 1888 was abandoned. In the 30s of the XXth cent. the walls were partially disassembled and up to this day only the fragments of them have survived.
