Kasteel Het Steenen Huys is situated in a beautiful location on the German border between Roermond and Heinsberg. This restored national monument is also known as Vlodrop Castle.
Kasteel Het Steenen Huys dates from 1290. The current building was built in 1644. Gerard Bordels, ships and Mayor of Roermond, placed a stone with his family crest on the building in the same year. During the Second World War, in 1945, the building was damaged. It was restored at the end of the twentieth century. There is a coach house next to the castle and there is a large garden with a pond.
It is a symmetrical house with a striking middle ressault surmounted by a slate-covered turret. Also here is the entrance that is framed with freestone and bears a coat of arms. The flame pots placed on either side of the entrance come from the bridge pillars and date from 1742.
