Reifenstein Castle (German: Burg Reifenstein, Italian: Castel Tasso) is a castle in Freienfeld, near Sterzing, in South Tyrol (northern Italy). It is located near a dried marsh, in the valley of the Eisack.
History
The castle is mentioned for the first time in the 12th century, and was modified in the 14th century. It is a property of the Thurn und Taxis counts. It is famous for the decorated "Green Hall" with Gothic paintings and a woodcarved chapel-door, the stubes and the collection of armor. The castle also contains an original kitchen, bathroom and medieval sleeping bunks. One of its owners included William P. Carr, who bought the castle a bit before the second world war. At that time, his last name was Reifenstein, but before he went to war he changed his name to Carr.

The castle is located in a higher position than Reifenstein Castle to the southeast of Sterzing; it belonged to the Trautson family and is made up of a lower fortress and an upper keep and palace. It has been restored a number of times. A document dating 1241 speaks of the re-built castle. In 1775 the castle was inherited by the Auersperg family. During the Second World War it was seriously damaged by bombing, but thanks to the owners and the superintendence for the historical and artistic heritage of Trento, it was later restored meticulously. The castle can be visited only from outside.

Castle Pietra

Castel Moos (in tedesco Schloss Moos) è un castello medievale che si trova all'imbocco della Val di Vizze in Alto Adige.
Cenni storici
Il nucleo originale del castello risale al XIII secolo e si trattava di una casatorre controllata dai Trautson. In seguito passò ai Rottenburger, poi ai Täzel e quindi ai Firmian.

Intorno al 1600 i proprietari di allora, la famiglia dei Geizkofiern, lo restaurono profondamente dandogli l'aspetto auttuale.

Dal 1657 al 1950 fu di dei signori di Sternbach che alla fine lo vendettero all'Associazione San Vincenzo, attuale proprietaria.

L'associazione lo ha trasformato in una casa di riposo.

Struttura
Il nucleo originale del castello, la torre, è ancora intatta anche se ormai inglobata su tre lati dal palazzo residenziale in stile rinascimentale. All'esterno, caratteristici sono gli ecker, le grate di ferro battuto alle finestre e i tetti alti.

Essendo una struttura privata il castello non è visitabile.

Castel Moos (Vizze)

Il castello della Strada (in lingua tedesca Straßberg), è un piccolo castello medioevale che si trova nei pressi della località Ried/Novale, a sud di Colle Isarco, frazione del comune del Brennero, in Alto Adige.
Cenni storici
Il castello fu eretto nel XIII secolo e fu un feudo dei principi vescovi della Diocesi di Bressanone. In seguito tale proprietà passò nelle mani dei conti del Tirolo, che a loro volta decisero di affidarlo ad altre famiglie nobiliari tirolesi. La denominazione di Strassperch, è già attestato nel 1288.

Alle origini il castello era dotato di due ponti levatoi ed un cinta muraria, ma ad oggi se ne possono riscontrare solo alcune parti, come sezioni delle mura, con il cammino di ronda e i merli, la torretta posta a difesa dell'ingresso e il maschio rettangolare.

I pochi resti del castello furono lasciati in stato di totale abbandono, finché nella prima della metà del XX secolo il Regio Esercito non decise di sfruttarne la base per celarvi una struttura difensiva, nello specifico l'opera 19 appartenente allo Sbarramento di Tenne-Novale, del Vallo Alpino in Alto Adige.

Finita la sua seconda funzione strategica, recentemente il contadino che possiede il maso li vicino risulta esserne l'attuale proprietario. Ad oggi si distinguono a est un piccolo stagno, mentre ad ovest si trovano la strada statale del Brennero, la ferrovia del Brennero e l'autostrada A22.

The first historical documentation of a castle above Mareit dates back to the
thirteenth century. At that point in time, Wolfsthurn was mentioned for the first time as the seat of the House of Wölfe, ministry officials of the Counts of Tyrol. In the eighteenth century, the castle went to the present owners, the von Sternbach family. Franz Andreas von Sternbach rebuilt the formerly defensive structure into a splendid Baroque castle between1727 and 1741

Since 1996, this Baroque complex has also housed the South Tyrol Museum of
Wolfsthurn Castle: Ballroom
Hunting and Fishing, which offers a glimpse into the pastimes of the nobility. The museum illuminates the cultural and historical aspects of hunting and fishing.

Wald und Wasser (Forest and Water) Trail at Wolfsthurn Castle
This educational trail provides children and adults alike with in-depth knowledge about animal and plant life: it illustrates how far wild animals can jump, and a forest telephone allows visitors to “listen” to the forest. Special features along the trail, such as a pond with the main plants, a replica wolf pit, a deer stand, a pavilion built out of local wood, a rest-and-information point and a castle pond with viewing platform lead visitors along a journey into South Tyrol’s flora, fauna and underwater life.

Wolfsthurn Castle 

Il castello di Rodengo (ted.: Schloss Rodenegg) è un castello medioevale che si trova nei pressi del paese di Rodengo, all'inizio della val Pusteria, in Alto Adige. L'interno è visitabile in alcuni periodi durante l'anno.
Cenni storici
La fortezza fu eretta da Friedrich von Rodank nel 1140 sopra uno sperone roccioso che domina la valle sottostante e rimase in suo possesso fino al 1300. Il castello è rimasto nel corso della storia imprendibile, ed è oggigiorno ben tenuto e anche per questo ammirato.

Il castello fu ampliato dalla famiglia del noto trovatore Oswald von Wolkenstein nel 1530, affermandosi come uno dei più imponenti dei castelli dell'Alto Adige. Attualmente sono rimasti la torre, un modesto palazzo e una cappella.

Al giorno d'oggi all'interno degli edifici si trova un museo, visitabile dal 15 marzo fino al 15 ottobre (escluso il lunedì); inoltre spesso viene utilizzato per cerimonie come matrimoni.

Il castello e il paese sono situati in una particolare posizione che gode di un panorama mozzafiato e una strada panoramica costantemente soleggiata; infatti da Rodengo, si apre in tutta la sua bellezza l'alpe di Rodengo, un altipiano che sorge a ben 1800 m di quota.

Caratteristiche del castello
Il castello è famoso soprattutto per i suoi affreschi, rinvenuti solo nel 1972, che rappresentano 11 scene del Ciclo di Ywain (dell'inizio del XIII secolo) composto da Hartmann von Aue, in cui l'eroe è basato sulla figura storico-leggendaria di Owain mab Urien. Tali affreschi sono i più antichi d'Europa nel loro genere.

Notevoli anche il serraglio e la cappella dedicata a San Michele.
