It was built in the second half of the 8th century when the Lombards invaded the Campaign and captured the Duchy of Benevento. In the 13th century, the Chateau Bisaccia became the hunting residence of Frederick II, Duke of Swabia, and a meeting place for members of the Sicilian poetry school, founded by Duke. And in the 16th century castle, which became popular because of its location and the beauty of the local scenery, dwelt the writer of the Renaissance, Giovanni Battista, Manco, arranged here a solemn banquets and fancy events. A frequent guest of the castle was a friend of Manto, the famous poet Torquato tasso, who was engaged in hunting or indulged entertainment. The 18th century was a century of transformation of the structure into an aristocratic residence of the Duke Ascanio Pignatelli.
