Château or Donjon de Bours was most likely built in the 12th century by Hugues de Bours. Originally it would have had a bailey defended by a crenellated wall guarding several outbuildings. Both the bailey and the castle would have been moated. At present all traces of the bailey are gone.
Bours Castle is a keep built out of sandstone and has a rectangular plan with six corbelled turrets. It has walls of 70 cm thick and 2 floors. It is generally assumed that during the mid-13th century the keep would have been higher.
During the first half of the 15th century the castle was owned by Maillotins de Bours who restored and enlarged the castle but probably did not change the keep.
In 1543 Bours Castle was burned down.
At the beginning of the 20th century there was talk of demolishing the keep but luckily that did not happen. During the second half of the 20th century the keep was restored several times and used as a town hall.

Les ruines du château de La Buissière se situent sur le site de la commune de Bruay-la-Buissière.
Histoire
Les premières traces du château datent du xiie siècle. C'était une demeure de plaisance, qui fut notamment l'une des résidences secondaires de la comtesse Mahaut d'Artois au xive siècle. Au xve siècle, le château est renforcé: il se compose d'une enceinte ceignant deux cents arpents de forêt, et d'un donjon rectangulaire imposant.
En 1662, le propriétaire du château vend les grès ruinés du château à Louis XIV, pour la construction de Menin. Le château est transformé au xviiie siècle en demeure de plaisance par Ange de Maulde, marquis de La Buissière. Autour du donjon restauré, il construit un logis en équerre. Le bâtiment reste dans la famille de Maulde jusqu'en 1844, puis passe dans celle de Riencourt. Lors du décès de la dernière comtesse de Riencourt en 1910, le château tombe une nouvelle fois à l'abandon.
La Compagnie des Houillères le rachète en 1917, mais le revend en 1964 au Ministère de la Justice, qui décide de le démolir en 1970. Il ne reste du château que le donjon à demi-ruiné, classé in extremis aux Monuments Historiques.

Château de La Buissière

The Château d'Olhain is a 15th-century castle located in Olhain, Fresnicourt-le-Dolmen, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
The castle is located in the middle of a lake which reflects its towers and curtain walls. It was also a major stronghold for the Artois in medieval times and testimony to the power of the Olhain family, first mentioned from the 12th century.
The castle existed in at least the early 13th century, but the present structure is largely the work of Jean de Nielles, who married Marie d’Olhain at the end of the 15th century.
The marriage of Alix Nielles to Jean de Berghes, Grand Veneur de France (master of hounds) to the King, meant the castle passed to this family, who kept it for more than 450 years. Once confiscated by Charles Quint, it suffered during the wars that ravaged the Artois. Besieged in 1641 by the French, it was partly demolished by the Spaniards in 1654, and finally blown-up and taken by the Dutch in 1710. Restored in 1830, it was abandoned after 1870, and sold by the last Prince of Berghes in 1900. There is also evidence that one of the castles occupants was related to Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan, the person on which Alexandre Dumas based his Three Musketeers character d'Artagnan.
During World War I and World War II, the castle was requisitioned first by French troops, then Canadian and British soldiers. The current owner has undertaken a programme of restoration.
