On the left bank of the Vézère just a few kilometres from Montignac and the Lascaux caves, Château de Sauveboeuf welcomes you to a natural setting among fruit orchards along the river. Built on the site of a 15th-century fortress, the castle was demolished in 1633 upon Richelieu's orders. It was rebuilt in the 17th century by Charles Antoine de Ferrières de Sauveboeuf. The medieval castle was replaced by a more modern, comfortable palace with large mullion windows and beautiful fireplaces. Your circuit takes you through several rooms of this illustrious castle, which has undergone meticulous restoration work over the past few decades by its owner, Claude Douce. Discover the monumental staircase in white stone, the dining room with its vast tapestries, and the Renaissance terrace, where you will enjoy a stroll as you admire a superb view over the Vézère.
