Description

Saint Germain de Livet Castle- Museum is characterised by its architecture, combining a 15th century half-timbered manor and a stone and Pré d’Auge glazed brick structure from the end of the 16th century. The salle des offices is a must when visiting the Castle because it offers superb frescoes from the end of the 16th century. The museum presents collections of furniture and works of art belonging to the Riesener-Pillaut family. This building bears witness to the refined way of life in the 19th century and offers the opportunity of discovering the artistic and personal career of the artist Léon Riesener (1808-1878), the grandson of the cabinet-maker Jean-Henri Riesener and the cousin of Eugène Delacroix.
