Located at the gates of Bordeaux in the Parempuyre town, the history of Château Clément-Pichon dates back to the 14th century. From 1601 to 1880, the Château belongs to the Pichon family, many of whom played an important role in the history of Bordeaux. During this period, the area goes up to 1000 hectares. The story also relates the passage of Louis XIV twice on these lands, in 1659 and in 1660 to perform hunting parties. The Castle, suffered a fire and is totally rebuilt after that. It is the architect Michel Louis Garros who built this “architectural curiosity” of Renaissance inspiration in the manner of Chenonceaux. The estate was upgraded to Cru Bourgeois Supérieur when the 1932 classification was revised in June 2003. Following its acquisition, Mr. Fayat will replant, on a parcel-by-plot basis, the 25 hectares currently in production. Also owned by Château La Dominique, the Fayat family brings its passion to this Haut-Médoc vineyard.
The Château Clément Pichon terroir, planted with 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, is harvested in traditional culture.  The advice and the care provided by the talented Michel Rolland gives birth here to a remarkable vintage despite the youth of its vines. The vat is composed of thermo-regulated stainless vats, the vinification is traditional. The installation of thermo-regulated stainless steel vats allows a partial vinification, the aging then takes place in oak barrels, half new, for 12 months.
At the tasting, Château Clément-Pichon offers a fruity, light and elegant wine that you can already drink or keep in a cellar for a few years.

Château D'Agassac is a Haut-Médoc wine estate located on the village of Ludon-Médoc in the Médoc, only 15 minutes from the city of Bordeaux in France. Its red wine is a famous Cru Bourgeois ranked "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1932. The property is also a leader in enotourism.
According to a local tradition, a Latin inscription found in the underground galleries of the Château dates its construction back to the 13th century. But the first of its known lords was Guillaume-Raymond d'Agassac in 1172, Lord of Blanquefort.
Since 1238, the Gaillard de Gassac Family is owner of the seigniory of Agassac which extends more than 800 hectares. Its lord is vassal of king of England, Edward I of England, called in London in 1299 and took part in the defense of Borough in 1296.
In 1357, the seigneury was sold to the lordship of Albret and some members of the family came to Agassac as Arnaud Amadieu I, Charles II of Albret or Jean II of Albret.
From 1580 to 1841 (during three centuries (16th - 17th - 18th centuries)), the property belongs to Pommiers Family. One of its member was President of Guyenne Parliament house.
In 1792 the first vines was planted and the winery created.
In 1841, the estate was purchased by Marcel Richier, one of the first big agricultural engineer in France. During the 19th century, wines of the property was sold abroad under Château Ludon and Château Pomiès.
In 1961 two members of Capbern-Gasqueton Family, Philippe Capbern-Gasqueton and Henry Capbern-Gasqueton, purchased Château D'Agassac. At the same time, Philippe Capbern-Gasqueton is the owner of Château Calon-Ségur one of fourteen Troisièmes Crus Classés (Third Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 in Saint-Estèphe and Château du Tertre one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 in Saint-Estèphe.
In 1996, the winery is purchased by the international insurance group Groupama. A very important renovation work was engaged to do of the estate one of the most beautiful properties of the Haut-Médoc.
Geology and Terroir
The terroir of the estate is situated in the southern part of Ludon-Médoc between two gravely outcrops and an area of sandy gravel.

The first consists of extremely fine gravel from the river and very characteristic of the commune of Ludon-Médoc. This gravely structure which can reach depths of up to 3 meters lends itself to ideal draining of water and results in a considerably early ripening of the grapes in this part of the vineyard, producing extremely refined and elegant wines. The second outcrop is made up of large Gunz gravel which forms a carpet much deeper than the first outcrop (+6m). However, given the greater proportion of clay, it lends itself to full-bodied wines with a more firm backbone.
The sandy gravel soils
It results in supple, palatable wines with a harmonious presence of tannins and devoid of all sharpness.

Château d'Agassac

Château du Taillan is a family-run estate. Nowadays, the current owners are 5 sisters. They are the 5th generation of the long established Cruse family, who has owned the property since it was acquired by Henri Cruse in 1896. Situated at the gateway of the Médoc area, Château du Taillan is one of the most attractive vineyards in the Gironde. Here, you are able to discover the classical château dating back to the XVIIIth century, along with the unique underground cellars, now listed as a French National Heritage Site of France.
The park, which contains centuries old trees, is also home to a rare pink marble altarpiece (another listed building), which is a perfect place to go for a stroll. Its vineyard of 30 hectares produces a Cru Bourgeois red wine, as well as a famous white wine. Very few Médoc vineyards produce a white wine, which makes La Dame Blanche a rare product. The Cruse family, and its team, welcome you to the cellars all year round, from 10am to 6pm. We are also open on Sundays with a reservation.

Château du Taillan

Château Margaux, archaically La Mothe de Margaux, is a wine estate of Bordeaux wine, and was one of four wines to achieve Premier cru (first growth) status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. The estate's best wines are very expensive, with a standard-sized bottle of the Château Margaux grand vin retailing at an average price of $639. The estate is located in the commune of Margaux on the left bank of the Garonne estuary in the Médoc region, in the département of Gironde, and the wine is delimited to the AOC of Margaux.
The estate also produces a second wine named Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, a third wine named Margaux de Château Margaux, as well as a dry white wine named Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux which does not conform to the Margaux appellation directives.
History
The estate has been occupied since at least the 12th century, with the site occupied by a fortified castle known as Lamothe or La Mothe (from motte, a small rise in the land), and wine under names such as "Margou" and "Margous" was known in the 15th century, but it was with the arrival of the Lestonnac family in the 16th century that wine production became of particular importance, and in the 1570s Pierre de Lestonnac expanded the property and cleared many of the grain fields to make way for vines.
The lineage of ownership was to continue in a relatively direct path from the Lestonnacs, though through the female side, with proprietors' names such as d'Aulède, Fumel, d'Hargicourt, including an alliance of marriage with the Pontac family of Château Haut-Brion in 1654, which became crucial to the inclusion of Château Margaux among the four first growths.
By the beginning of the 18th century, the estate comprised 265 hectares (650 acres) with a third devoted to viticulture, which is nearly identical to the modern layout. As with many of Médoc's châteaux, the early 18th century saw the wine develop from a pale watery drink that faded within only a few years, to the dark, complex liquid that has been stored in cellars ever since, and a transformation was largely due to an estate manager named Berlon, who revolutionised techniques of wine-making by introducing novel ideas such as banning harvesting in the early morning to avoid dew-covered grapes and subsequently dilution, and acknowledged the importance of soil quality in the various terroir found on the estate.
In 1771, wine from the estate became the first claret to be sold at Christie's, and upon visiting Bordeaux in 1787, Thomas Jefferson made note of Château Margaux as one of the "four vineyards of first quality".
Following the French Revolution, the owner Elie du Barry was executed by guillotine and the estate expropriated, eventually becoming the property of the citizen Miqueau who neglected its care and maintenance. Briefly rescued by Laure de Fumel, she was soon forced to sell, and in 1802 the estate was purchased by the Marquis de la Colonilla, Bertrand Douat for 654,000 francs.
The estate's old château was torn down and completely rebuilt when Douat commissioned one of Bordeaux' foremost architects, Louis Combes (fr), to create the buildings in the First Empire style, the mansion for the Marquis to move into by 1812.
Large portions of shares in the estate were bought by the Bordeaux wine merchant Fernand Ginestet (then owner of the adjacent Château Lascombes) in 1925, and the family share was gradually increased to allow his son Pierre Ginestet to take complete ownership in 1949. In 1965, Pierre Ginestet controversially declared a new estate policy that the vintage year would only be affixed to great vintages, while selling the wine of lesser years as non-vintage wine, like the customary practice of Champagne.
Modern history
Following the Bordeaux economic crisis of 1973, the Ginestet family were forced to sell Château Margaux. An attempt by National Distillers & Chemical Corporation to acquire Château Margaux was vetoed by the French government on grounds that the estate was a national treasure. (This has since been reported as a Coca-Cola Company effort prevented by French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.)
A successful acquisition took place in 1976 by French grocery and finance group Félix Potin, headed by Greek André Mentzelopoulos for a sum near 72 million francs, or $16 million. Mentzelopoulos transformed the vineyard through restoring the neglected vineyard, chais, and mansion and the consultancy of oenologist Émile Peynaud. By the time of Mentzelopoulos' death in 1980, Château Margaux was considered substantially restored to its former reputation, with the 1978 and 1979 vintages declared "exceptional".
At the beginning of the 1990s, an exchange of shares was negotiated with the Agnelli family but the management remained in the hands of Mentzelopoulos' daughter Corinne Mentzelopoulos. In 2003, Corinne Mentzelopoulos bought back the majority stake and became the sole shareholder of Château Margaux.
A bottle of Château Margaux 1787 holds the record as the most expensive bottle of wine ever broken, insured at $225,000.
Margaux Hemingway received her given name from this wine.
Production
The domaine of Château Margaux extends 262 hectares (650 acres), of which 87 hectares (210 acres) are entitled to the Margaux AOC declaration. 80 hectares (200 acres) are planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, with 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit verdot. 12 hectares (30 acres) are cultivated with Sauvignon blanc to make the dry white Pavillon Blanc.
The average annual production of the Grand vin, Château Margaux, is 150,000 bottles, while the second wine Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux has an average production of 200,000 bottles. The dry white Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux has a production of around 35,000 bottles, and must be sold under the generic Bordeaux AOC as the cultivation of Sauvignon blanc does not fall under the directives of the Margaux AOC. The remainder of the production, what is determined to be "lesser grapes", is sold off in bulk.
In popular culture
In 1888 a zarzuela of one hour titled with this name was premiered in Spain, being musical work of the teacher Manuel Fernández Caballero.
In the 1990 film, Arachnophobia, Jeff Daniels' character makes multiple references to Chateau Margaux in his wine cellar and refuses to throw it at the spider while being attacked muttering "Not the Margaux."
In Abuse of Weakness, Isabelle Huppert’s character serves a 2003 Chateau Margaux.
Downton Abbey, Season 5, Episode 9. Carson tells Mrs Hughes “You don’t go far wrong with a Margaux."
In Batman v Superman, Bruce Wayne is seen drinking a glass of vintage Château Margaux, after waking up from a nightmare, in his Glasshouse on Wayne Manor grounds.

Château Margaux

Le château de Peixotto est un château situé sur la commune de Talence, en Gironde.
Historique
Le château est construit vers 1760 par l'architecte François Lhote pour le compte du riche banquier Samuel Peixotto (1741-1805).
En 1810, son fils le revend à la famille Rodrigues-Henriques.
Il passe au baron François Xavier de Espeleta en 1852.
La Faculté de médecine et de pharmacie de Bordeaux y crée un jardin botanique en 1884 sur une partie des terrains du château.
Le monument fait l’objet d’une inscription au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 23 mai 1935.

Château de Peixotto

Château Pape Clément is a Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, ranked among the Crus Classés for red and white wine in the Classification of Graves wine of 1959. It is the oldest wine estate in Bordeaux, harvesting its 700th vintage in 2006. The winery and vineyards are located in the commune of Pessac, south-west of the city of Bordeaux. When the estate was omitted from the initial Graves classification of 1953 it caused some controversy.
History
Planted in 1300, the estate is the oldest planted vineyard in the region, when it was presented to Bertrand de Goth upon his appointment as archbishop of Bordeaux, by his brother, Berald. It received its name from Bertrand's papal name, Clement V; on his election in 1306 he gave the estate to his successor as archbishop, Cardinal Arnaud de Canteloup. Bertrand, who would later move the papacy to Avignon near Châteauneuf-du-Pape, planted this original vineyard with red wine grapes. White wine grapes were planted across the river near the town of Lormont. The vineyard remained in the possession of archbishops of Bordeaux until the Revolution, when it was nationalised and sold as a bien national.
After the Revolution, a succession of owners oversaw the development of the property as a commercial enterprise, and by the middle of the 19th century the estate was widely regarded to be second only to Haut-Brion, though under the ownership and expansions of Jean-Baptiste Clerc from 1858 to his death just before 1880, the wines of Pape-Clément was selling at a price equivalent to a Médoc second growth. Later owners, including an Englishman named Maxwell who neglected the estate, experienced difficult times, with hail devastation in 1937, the onset of World War II and the expansions of the suburbs of Bordeaux coming closer.
The estate was eventually revitalised under the ownership of the vigneron and poet Paul Montagne who arrived in 1939. In need of reconstituting the vineyards from the scratch, the results of improvement were not seen until 1949. Having engaged the services of oenologist Émile Peynaud, the wines of Pape-Clément have been viewed as increasingly successful, and has been described by David Peppercorn as the most important vineyard of Pessac-Talence behind Haut-Brion and La Mission.
Following the death of Paul Montagne at 94, his son Léo Montagne has joint-ownership of the estate, partnered with Bernard Magrez, owner of Château La Tour Carnet. The estate currently employs the flying winemaker Michel Rolland as a consultant.
Production
The vineyard area consists of 32.5 hectares, 30 of which are planted with grape varieties of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The remaining plots are cultivated with white varieties of 45% Sauvignon blanc, 45% Sémillon and 10% Muscadelle.
The Grand vin, Chateau Pape Clément, is produced annually in 7,000 cases of red wine and 350 cases of dry white wine. Additionally there are produced second wines Le Clémentin du Pape Clément and Le Prélat du Pape Clément. The introduction of a second wine in the 1980s, was widely credited with allowing the estate to increase their focus on the quality of their Grand vin, by being more selective in which grapes were used. Today the Grand vin is typically composed of two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot making up the remaining third. The wine is aged in oak barrels (almost half being new oak) for a minimum of fourteen months. The non-cru classé white wine will typically be composed of equal amounts of Sauvignon blanc and Sémillon, depending on the vintage.

Château Pape Clément

Built on marshy land on the Left Bank of the Gironde, opposite Fort Pâté, Fort Médoc was a key part of Vauban's three-point defence system.  Its purpose was to block the passage of ships between Île Pâté and Cussac in the Médoc. Fort Médoc was built in 1689-1690 on low-lying terrain with alluvial soil. The artillery battery was pointed towards Blaye and most of the structure was taken up to house it.
In order to keep the fort from being captured by soldiers disembarking from the estuary, it was necessary to build a structure able to resist such an attack. The square-shaped fort, oriented perpendicularly to the riverbank, consisted of four bastions linked by curtain walls. A demilune protected the imposing Porte Royale on the side furthest from the estuary. This vast entity was in turn protected by a covered walkway, a preliminary moat, and a main moat able to be filled with water by locks.
Two rows of barracks were built inside the square as well as a building to house the Major, a chapel, a bakery, and a gunpowder storage area. The barracks could accommodate 300 soldiers. However, the military role of Fort Médoc turned out to be rather negligible in the course of its history. In fact, it was never attacked. In 1716, thirteen 6 and 8 pound cannons and a rather limited number of cannonballs were nevertheless waiting. By 1789, only a few soldiers, mostly disabled veterans, and three old cannons attested to the fort's military vocation. 
After periods of virtual abandon, followed by a renovation, the site was decommissioned by the army in 1916. It became the property of the commune of Cussac in 1930. This part of Vauban's project, executed by the architect Duplessy, is typical of fortifications designed by the French military strategist.

Fort Médoc

Charlemagne 769
In 769, While Charlemagne started his reconquest of Aquitanian, he decided to establish a fortified camp close to the hillock, “Campus Francorum”. This oppidum which will become Fronsac. North of the camp, on the La Rivière place, at the end of the limestone plateau which is 60 metre high (as much as the Saint Emilion church), was the mound that is still called the La Rivière mound and in which was discovered the vestige of a Gallic grave. 
The emperor built a guard tower which allowed him to watch over the enemies coming from the Dordogne river or the forest around.
René Mortier Quarré 1900 - 1925
René Mortier Quarré who owned the estate at the beginning of the 20 century had the brilliant idea of ageing the wine in barrels in the underground quarries dug during the 18th century. 
He also decided to use the quarries (underground galleries?) for storing the bottles until they are sold… Indeed, the storage condition are perfect (13°C, 100% humidity; darkness).
Jean Balluteaud 1925 - 1960
In 1925, Mr Balluteaud purchased the estate and decided to open the underground caves to the visitors and tell them about the optical condition to store the wine. 
Inside the galleries are displayed 450 boxes where age the bottles starting from the bottling. In the underground cellars, Mr Balluteaud created the Beautiful limestone table called the “Knight Table”. 
We can also admired a copy of the griddle which is in the armory room, doors cut in the limestone, all of this throughout 25 km of galleries…
Jacques Borie 1960 - 1994
Starting from the 60s, Jacques Borie focused on the vineyard and enlarged it to 45 hectares which made the property the largest of the appellation. He created the golden label with still fin on the bottle nowadays. 
1962, a vintage vinified by Mr Borie, is the oldest vintage we preciously store in our the cave.
Jean Leprince 1994 - 2003
he was also the executive director of the Pinault Group from 1972 to 1988. Starting from 1994, Jean Leprince was particulrary well known for his wine trade activity in Bordeaux. 
He owned different well-known Chateaux from the region, some Wine Merchant activities, a wooden box and a cooper company. He was also a printer. 
During this period, the Leprince family (with the help of Xavier and Valerie Péneau, son in law and daughter of Jean Leprince) expanded the vineyard to 50 hectares, refurnished a part of the Château and upgraded the cellars. 
At the same time, the owners decided to hire the famous Consulting enologist Michel Rolland who improved considerably to wine quality. 
Jean Leprince accidentally died in 2002, his family sold the estate the following year.
James Grégoire 2003 - 2013
James Gregoire, who fell under the spell of the estate many years before, bought the Château De La Rivière in 2003. His ambition was to perpetuate the quality and reputation of the wine. 
He hired the consulting enologist Claude Gros and decided to undertake the necessary investments not only in the vineyard but also in the cellars and in the Château. 
The vineyard reached 65 hectares in 2013. As an astute businessman, he had created the grape harvester line society “Gregoire” based in Cognac which became the most famous company in its activity. 
In agreement with his family, he decided to sell the property in December 2013. Shortly after the sale, Mr Gregoire and the new owner, Mr Kok tragically died in a helicopter crash.
Bolian Group since end of 2013
Since the end of 2013, Chateau de La Rivière is part of the Bolian Group which is specialized in luxury hotels and tea production in the Yunnan province. 
Xavier Buffo has been at working at the Chateau de La Rivière since 1997 and he is now the current director.

Château de La Rivière

The Château de Vayres is a medieval castle, located on the banks of the Dordogne River, located in the commune of Vayres, in the Gironde Department of France, near the city of Bordeaux. The château de Vayres was rebuilt during the Renaissance, and again in 1700. It is classified as an official historical landmark of France, and the gardens are listed as among the Notable Gardens of France by the Committee of Parks and Gardens of the French Ministry of Culture,
History
The castle is located on a point dominating the Dordogne River. Excavations found pottery ovens, indicating that the site had a large population in Gallo-Roman times, and that there was a wooden fort on the site, and later a Gallo-Roman oppidum, or fortress.
The castle was built in the 11th century to protect the city of Bordeaux. It was made of stone and surrounded by a wooden palisade, as attested in a manuscript dated 1092. Nothing remains of the original structure.
In 1288 the chateau and lands were given as a dowry to Amanieu VII d'Albret, who became the seigneur des Vayres. He strengthened the chateau with a new tower, Tour du Moulin. The chateau remained in his family for three hundred years, until the time of King Henry IV.
Beginning in 1326 Bérard d’Albret took the side of England in the struggle for control of the region. He received financial support from King Eward II of England, and turned the castle into a large fortress. From that period, the donjon, the entry and the moats, now dry, still remain.
The château was badly damaged during the Hundred Years War. During the 14th century, its successive owners switched back and forth between the French and English side. The castle was seized in retaliation and given to different nobles, including Gaston de Foix, and another branch of the d'Albret family. In 1499 it was given by marriage to Cesar Borgia, whose daughter then restored it to Henri d'Albret, the king of Navarre and the grandfather of the future King of France, Henry IV, in 1535.
Henry IV inherited the house through his mother, Jeanne d'Albret. He stayed in the castle several times, and then in 1583 he sold it, largely ruined, to Ogier de Gourgue. Ogier de Gourgue was in charge of the treasury of Guyenne, and he commissioned a well-known architect, Louis de Foix, who had built the lighhouse of Cordouan and had worked for the king of Spain, to rebuild the castle in the new style of the French Renaissance, with an elegant facade, in the mannerist style of the late Renaissance, facing the Court of Honor.
In the 17th century the Château de Vayres was the scene of battles between the Gourgue family and other nobles the region against the power of Cardinal Mazarin and the young King Louis XIV. The chateau was badly damaged during these battles.
In about 1700 Jacques-Joseph de Gourgue, the bishop of Bazas, undertook the restoration of the chateau in the style of the eighteenth century. He harmonized the structures and created a monumental stairway on the site of the old moats. In the beginning of the 17th century he replaced the drawbridge and the barbacane with the present bridge and portico in the style of Vauban, by which one today enters the chateau. The chateau has not been restored since that time.
The Gourgue family were the owners of the chateau until 1900. In 2001, the chateau was classified as an historical monument of France. The castle itself is still occupied, and has undergone considerable restoration inside.
The Gardens
The original gardens were created in the 17th century, were large and extended along the Dordogne River. They were abandoned and replaced by fields, and then recreated in 1938 as a Garden à la française by the landscape architect Louis-Ferdinand Duprat. A monumental stairway leads from the chateau across the old moat to the French gardens by the river, where there are parterres bordered with hedges of yew, and boxwood trees clipped into cone shapes. There is also a flower garden of medieval inspiration, and an English-style park, with cedar, oak, linden, hornbeam and copper beech trees.
