Pesteils Castle is a medieval castle in Polminhac in the Cantal. In 1942, he was the setting for the film The Eternal Return with Madeleine Sologne and Jean Marais. It is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since July 18, 1994. The Pesteils castle is located on a rocky promontory overlooking the village of Polminhac and the Cère Valley. The tower 40 meters high dating from the end of the Middle Ages, the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the beginning of the Hundred Years War. During the second half of the seventeenth century, home of the body and the corner flag were enlarged. The castle was redesigned by architect Emile Lemaigre in the late nineteenth century. In the nineteenth century, their interiors have been redesigned in the Neo-Gothic taste and redeveloped in the early twentieth century. The fifteenth century frescoes located in the dungeon were restored in 2008 (Sotheby's price), painted ceilings of the seventeenth century, scenes from Greek mythology, adorn two rooms on the 1st floor of the main building. An old kitchen, restored in 2000 received the La Cornue. Murals of the first quarter of the twentieth century Tourdes Félix (1855-1920) are classified historic monument under Item since 1980. The park of the castle of Pesteils was redesigned in the early twentieth century. It has a quay terrace, a vegetable garden and an orchard. It was recorded in pre-inventory of remarkable gardens.

The Château de Vixouges (or Château de Vixouze) is a medieval castle in the commune Polminhac in the Cantal département of the Auvergne, in France.
The entire castle, including the kitchen, dining room, the room on the first floor of the keep, the room on the second floor with a monumental fireplace, the room with pilasters, the room in the north room, the chapel and the bakery was classified on 7 November 2000 as a monument historique.
Description
The central square defensive tower dates from the 13th century. In the 15th century, the tower was rebuilt, the staircase dates from this period. The tower has on its ground floor and in the first floor square rooms and on top of it an attic. A barn is dated to the year 1613. The chapel and the oven are also from the 17th century. Two wings and the boundary wall were created in 1719. The fountain at the entrance of the castle is a work of the 19th century, being erected after 1811.
History
Vixouze was first mentioned as a villa in 930. It was a gift by Bernard de Carlat Vicomte Carlat to the prior of Conques (villa mea que vocatur Vidditiosa).
According to a report dating from 1267, Vixouges was constructed as a noble site with one tower. In the Hundred Years' War, it was largely demolished. It was rebuilt in the 15th century.

Sedaiges was already in 1230 the seat of a feudal justice: Pierre de Sédaiges was then gentleman of the court of Rodez. The castle was composed of a dungeon attached to living quarters which opened onto a fortified interior courtyard, flanked on 3 sides by small towers with pepperpot rooves. A fifth tower inside the enclosure allowed internal communication between levels.
In 1408, during the 100 Years’ War, the castle was left virtually ruined. But a wedding with the Caissac family yielded an opportunity to rebuild it in 1456 based on its original design..
From 1750, after the Berals had succeeded the Caissacs, woodwork, alcoves and extended windows turned Sédaiges into a more comfortable residence. It remained in this state until the 1850s, as illustrated in photographs taken at the time.
Starting in 1860, under the influence of the famous architect Violet le Duc, the castle was fundamentally altered: a third floor covered the open courtyard, the three towers were elevated to the height of the original dungeon, slate replaced lauze on the roof, and Sédaiges took on the same appearance as it has today: one of the most beautiful example in Haute-Auvergne of neo-gothic architecture.
The castle is listed to the Additional Inventory of the Historical Monuments and is still inhabited by the twenty eighth generation of the descendants of the Sédaiges family.

Château de Sedaiges

Château de La Moissétie is a manor house located in the town of Aurillac in the Cantal. Altered over the centuries, the castle consists of a round corner tower of the nineteenth century confining an old main building of rectangular plan. Its name comes from the Moisset family, hereditary provosts of the Jordanne valley to the abbot of Aurillac1. Since the thirteenth century to the fifteenth century, it remains in the Moisset family, then the family of La Roque Roquenatou (one branch attaches to the castle of Montal-lez-Arpajon) until the late eighteenth century. He then bought by Mr. Brunon whose family holds it to the late twentieth century.

Château de La Moissétie

Château de Messilhac is located in the municipality of Raulhac in the Cantal. It was established around the twelfth century on a promontory overlooking the Goul Valley. It is brought as a dowry by Margaret of Bénavent Rodez to Jean-Montamat. It is edited in 1537 by Jean de Montamat, coseigneur Polminhac, making it the only intact remnant of the Renaissance in the department. Castle Messilhac shows an example of stately home of the thirteenth century modified in the sixteenth century. It is surrounded by a wall with irregular contours whose relief is obtained by the size of the elongated rock platform on which it was built. Common are backed by the enclosure of the north side. From the ancient wall that protected the castle once, there remains the tower called "the dungeon" currently connected to the castle by a small wing of the eighteenth century. The drawbridge was to be found in the east. Remains of other ancient buildings show the importance of the ancient castle. The beautiful Renaissance main building built in 1531 by Jean de Montamat is flanked by two square towers, the oldest, one of which is the thirteenth century. Their vertices and of the façade are surmounted by a covered walkway, with turrets and battlements angles. Home body has three floors each divided into four parts. They have retained their French ceilings and fireplaces. Mullioned windows, staircase with its vaulted liernes and tiercerons, fireplaces and molded doors attest to the wealth of the owners who built or aménagèrent Castle Messilhac. The door is confined to Renaissance fusiform columns while other ornamentations are more transitional. It has been a listed building March 16, 1921. You can visit the castle of the first Messilhac May to 31 August, 14 h 30-18 h 30.

Château de Messilhac

The Château d'Anjony is a castle in Tournemire in the Cantal département of France.
Description
The castle, built of reddish basalt, has been described as "one of the most remarkable castles in Upper Auvergne". It is located in a strategic position on the Tournemire promontory and dominates the rich landscape of the Doire valley with its four tall towers, 40 metres (130 ft).
History
The castle was built in the 15th century by Louis II d'Anjony, companion of Jean de Dunois and Joan of Arc, near to the towers of Tournemire which had been held by his family and the Tournemires in joint fief since 1351. This dual ownership was the cause of three centuries of bloody rivalry between the two families, one of old feudal stock, the other having prospered through commerce and service to royalty. Around 1650, the Tournemires left the area.
The castle and its estate have been classified as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture. The castle (excluding the 18th century attached building) was classified in 1942.
Description
The castle consists of a keep with four corner towers. There is only one room on each floor. During the 18th century, the owners added a small wing in the then fashionable style. The low vaulted cellar in the basement was turned into a vast entrance hall. The main hall on the first floor has a coffered ceiling with three tiers of beams. Throughout the castle are fine furnishings and fittings, including tapestries from Aubusson and Flanders, a tester bed and a reclining seat. The kitchen boasts a massive fireplace. The chapel, located in the southwest tower, has frescoes illustrating the life of Christ. In an alcove is a statue of Our Lady of Anjony, a black virgin and child of painted and gilded wood. The Knights' Hall, on the second floor, has frescoes of Michel of Anjony and his wife, Germaine of Foix, in late 16th century dress. Other frescoes illustrate the legend of the Nine Valiant Knights from a medieval poem. Notable objects in this room include a Florentine table inlaid with ivory, a Mudéjar-style secretaire, engraved silver dishes and various Renaissance objets d'art. The audience chamber on the third floor has diagonal faulting and walls hung with two large tapestries, one a Flemish verdure (hunting scene). The loopholes along the watchpath overlook the Doire valley.

Château d'Anjony

The castle in Saint-Chamant (a listed monument) overlooks a beautiful valley and has a view of the Cantal mountains. It is composed of a donjon from the 15th century (military origin). It was amongst others a Robert de Balsac ' fief who was Seneschal of Agenais and Chamberlain of the King. In the 17th century, the Lignerac family, future Caylus Dukes built a big main building where tapestries from Aubusson are on view. Since 1783, the owner has tried to keep this place lively. As well as the tapestries from Aubusson, you can admire ones from Flandres (17th century), an altarpiece in the chapel (17th century), a big staircase and panellings.

Château de Saint-Chamant

Le château de Veyrières est un château français situé sur la commune de Sansac-de-Marmiesse, dans le département du Cantal, en Auvergne.
Il fait l'objet d'une protection au titre des monuments historiques.
Localisation
En Auvergne, dans le quart sud-ouest du département du Cantal, le château de Veyrières est situé en contrebas et au sud du bourg de Sansac-de-Marmiesse, à moins de 200 mètres de la Cère.
Description
Situé au milieu d'une prairie, le château est composé de plusieurs éléments construits en maçonnerie de pierres brutes et couverts en lauzes. Un corps principal de quatre étages carrés fait office de donjon pouvant remonter au xiiie siècle ; son couronnement a été modifié au xvie siècle avec l'adjonction d'un chemin de ronde et de quatre échauguettes d'angle, puis réaménagé en 1730 avec l'ouverture de croisées et la création, au premier étage, de deux grandes pièces d'habitation, dont l'une présente un surplafond décoré de 32 caissons peints en camaïeu. Un second corps de logis rectangulaire de deux étages est accolé au premier ; flanqué de deux tours rondes aux angles extérieurs nord-est et sud-est, il présente des éléments de constructions postérieurs à 1587. Un autre corps de logis du xviie siècle de deux étages avec un comble mansardé, est appliqué sur le côté sud du précédent. Deux petites ailes en appentis ont été ajoutées au xixe siècle.
Histoire
Le château fait l'objet d'une inscription partielle au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 30 octobre 1987 pour ses façades et toitures, ainsi que pour plusieurs éléments intérieurs (escalier avec couloir d'entrée ; cheminée de l'ancienne cuisine ; plafond peint du premier étage du donjon).
Famille de Veyrières
Il existait deux seigneuries importantes à Sansac, celle de Marmiesse qui est la plus ancienne et dont le château a disparu, et celle de Veyrières dont l'origine correspond peut-être à une verrerie.
Une famille de Veyrières subsistait encore au xve siècle.
Guillaume de Veyrières, damoiseau, seigneur du lieu qu'il habitait, vivait en 1404.
Guillaume II de Veyrières, son fils, était seigneur de Veyrières et coseigneur de Sansac. Ses armes figurent dans l'armorial de 1450.
Plus tard apparaissent deux frères :
Jean de Veyrières, qui habitait le château, s'établit à Réquiran (commune actuelle de Laroquevieille) par suite de son mariage avec Césarine de La Rocque, dame du lieu. Il a une fille Anne de Veyrières, qui suit, et un frère :
Guyon de Veyrières, coseigneur de Veyrières, résidait à Sansac et il se trouve exproprié en 1601 par Astorg de Saint-Nectaire.
Anne de Veyrière, fille et héritière de Jean, épouse Astorg de Saint-Nectaire, fils bâtard de François de Saint-Nectaire, prévôt du monastère de Montsalvy.

Astorg de Saint-Nectaire a épousé le 10 août 1587 Anne de Veyrières.
Famille du Verdier de Marcilhac (1814)
Antoine du Verdier de Marsillac (1746), fils de Charles du Verdier et de Marie-Marguerite de Montheil, dame de Marsillac, page de Louis XV, puis officier de chasseurs, s'est marié en 1788 à Mauriac avec Marianne Lacoste, sœur du conventionnel Jean-Baptiste Lacoste. Son frère Charles du Verdier de Marcillac (1742-1807), marié à Jeanne-Josèphe Dubois de Boutary, de Montech. Ils achètent Veyrières en 1814 et ils auront quatorze enfants, dont six filles.
Louis du Verdier de Marcillac (1898), leur fils, procureur du roi avant la Révolution de 1830, hérite de Veyrières.
Familles de Saint-Vincent et Gard
Georges Gard, ancien officier de d'artillerie, fils d'Auguste Gard, avocat, et de Marguerite d'Authier de Rochefort, s'est marié en 1949 avec Monique de Saint-Vincent, fille de Louis de Saint-Vincent et de Madeleine de Rivals-Mazère, propriétaire de Lamartinie, descendant de Charles du Verdier de Marcillac, seigneur de Boutary. Ils ont eu cinq enfants.

L'intérieur du château ne se visite pas, mais le promeneur a accès au parc et peut faire le tour de la bâtisse.

Château de Veyrières

Château de Valon is a castle located in the town of Lacroix-Barrez, in the French department of Aveyron.The castle, built in rubble except the dungeon, including a forecourt fully closed by residential buildings that lined a courtyard beneath which is a solid wall that forms shirt to keep. A second door led from the corridor with a passage. We had to work around the dungeon to find the entrance. The dungeon was a watchtower at each corner and a lofty hall surrounded by battlements.
