The Château de Margon, located about ten kilometres north-west of Pézenas, is a protected historical monument. It is considered one of the most beautiful Renaissance châteaux in the west of Hérault. Built in around 1525 on older foundations dating back to the 13th century, it consists of a main building flanked by three fortified towers topped off with pepperbox turrets. The main façade looks out onto the gardens and is bordered by two towers facing north-east and north-west. On the village side, a courtyard leading up to the château is bordered by two wings, on which there is a third tower containing a spiral staircase.
The Château de Margon is currently under restoration.
The garden is a classic French-style composition with the structured look of an Italian garden. Its Mediterranean character can be seen in its column-shaped cypress trees, laurel hedges and mazes, and straight paths bordered by oleander.
