When we were children, we often spent summers at our grandparents, our parents while traveling. The Harper family left France and moved to Princeton in America just before World War II. " Destroyed by fire in the 1950s, it was restored. Today it is occupied by the training center of the French Institute of Management.

Le château d'Auteuil se situe à Berneuil-en-Bray (Oise), dans le Pays de Bray picard, Hauts-de-France, France.
Délaissé à la fin du XVI siècle, il est réhabilité au XIX siècle par le comte Archambault de Combault d'Auteuil. À son décès en 1892, la famille de Kergolay en hérite.
Depuis le château est devenu en 1990 la propriété du peintre Hiri, puis en 2001 d'un membre de la jet-set d'origine libanaise, la richissime Mouna Ayoub, avant d'être racheté en 2003 par des amateurs qui y ont aménagé des chambres d'hôtes.
Les façades et toitures du château, le terre-plein entouré de douves sur lequel il est bâti, font l’objet d’une inscription au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 14 septembre 2007. Les parcelles attenantes sont incluses dans l’arrêté de protection.

Le château de Fosseuse est un château situé sur la commune de Fosseuse dans l'Oise.
Historique
Ancien propriété des Montmorency, le château quitte la famille de Montmorency à la fin du xviie siècle, lorsqu'il est vendu à Louise de Prie, veuve du maréchal de la Mothe-Houdancourt. Il est érigé en marquisat au xviiie siècle pour Philippe Thomé, conseiller au Parlement et entre en 1807 dans la famille de Kergorlay. Le château de Fosseuse est devenu un gite d'hôtes de charme.
Le monument fait l’objet d’une inscription au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 27 juillet 1992.

Bishop's residence
MUDO – Musée de l'Oise is housed in the former episcopal palace, residence of the bishops of Beauvais, the city's Counts, and Peers of France. This beautiful architectural complex was built in the shadow of the Beauvais cathedral in the 12th century by Henri of France, the king's brother. It was built upon the Roman ramparts. In the 14th century, to affirm his authority in the wake of a riot by the city's inhabitants, the bishop had a fortified entrance built, complete with two towers.
Two centuries later, the main dwelling was rebuilt by Bishop Louis Villiers of Isle Adam in a Renaissance spirit, yet maintaining the characteristic gothic decoration.  Its façade is embellished with a stair tower known as the “clock tower” topped off by a bell tower housing three bells, one of them dating from 1506.
In the loft, the majestic, imposing 14-meter-high roof structure is one of the most spectacular elements of the former bishop's palace.
A Palace of Many Uses
After the Revolution, the palace was assigned to several uses: police headquarters in 1800, and back to bishop's palace in 1822. It was used as the palais de justice in 1846; Prosper Mérimée had it registered on the list of historical monuments in 1848.
During World War II, the departmental museum housed in a building north of the cathedral suffered bombardments. The rescued works and objects were then temporarily stored in the loft of the former bishop's palace. In 1973, the judicial administration left the palace, leaving room for the collections of the Departmental Museum of the Oise, which today has become MUDO – Musée de l'Oise.

In 1900, Baroness Jeanne Léonino de Rothschild began the construction of the Chateau de Montvillargenne, very near the chateau owned by her mother. To honour her family name, Jeanne had the coat of arms of the Léoninos – still visible today – carved on the facade, along with that of the Rothschilds, which has since disappeared.
The architecture of the chateau is a successful combination of regional and foreign styles such as Norman half-timbering, British windows, roofs from Wurtemburg and balconies in the style of the Bearn region.
Some years after Jeanne’s demise in 1929, the chateau became the World War II headquarters of German troops. The West Wing, destroyed by Allied bombing, was rebuilt by the Mother Superior of the nuns of the Sacred-Heart, who transformed the chateau into a convent for novitiates. After the convent closed in 1969, the building housed a training centre for the arts.
The Chateau de Montvillargenne became a chateau hotel & restaurant in 1985, joining the fleet of hotels belonging to the Vacances Bleues group in 1999.

Château de Montvillargenne

The Château de Chantilly s a historic château located in the town of Chantilly, France, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Paris.
The site comprises two attached buildings: the Petit Château built around 1560 for Anne de Montmorency, and the Grand Château, which was destroyed during the French Revolution and rebuilt in the 1870s.
Owned by the Institut de France, the château houses the Musée Condé. It is one of the finest art galleries in France and is open to the public.
History
The estate's connection with the Montmorency family began in 1484. The first mansion (no longer in existence, now replaced by the Grand Château) was built, between 1528 and 1531, for Anne de Montmorency by Pierre Chambiges. The Petit Château was also built for him, around 1560, probably by Jean Bullant. In 1632, after the death of Henri II de Montmorency, it passed to his nephew, the Grand Condé, who inherited it through his mother, Charlotte Marguerite de Montmorency.
Some interesting pieces of history are associated with the château during the 17th century. Molière's play, Les Précieuses ridicules, received its first performance here in 1659. Madame de Sévigné relates in her memoirs that when King Louis XIV of France visited there in 1671, François Vatel, the maître d'hôtel to the Grand Condé, committed suicide when he feared the fish would be served late.
The collection includes important works of the cabinetmaker André-Charles Boulle.
The original mansion was destroyed in the French Revolution. It was repaired in a modest way by Louis Henri II, Prince of Condé, but the entire property was confiscated from the Orléans family, between 1853 and 1872, during which interval it was owned by Coutts, an English bank. Chantilly was entirely rebuilt, between 1875 and 1882, by Henri d'Orléans, duc d'Aumale (1822–1897) to the designs of Honore Daumet. The new château met with mixed reviews. Boni de Castellane summed up one line of thought: "What is today styled a marvel is one of the saddest specimens of the architecture of our era — one enters at the second floor and descends to the salons". In the end, the Duc d'Aumale bequeathed the property to the Institut de France upon his death in 1897.
Musée Condé
The château's art gallery, the Musée Condé, houses one of the finest collections of paintings in France (after the Louvre). It specializes in French paintings and book illuminations of the 15th and 16th centuries.
Works in the art gallery (many of them are in the Tribune Room) include Sassetta's Mystic Marriage of St. Francis, Botticelli's Autumn, Piero di Cosimo's Portrait of Simonetta Vespucci, Raphael's Three Graces and Madonna of Loreto, Guercino's Pietà, Pierre Mignard's Portrait of Molière as well as four of Antoine Watteau's paintings and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's Le concert champêtre. Other paintings in the collection include works by Fra Angelico, Filippino Lippi, Hans Memling, 260 paintings and drawings by François and Jean Clouet, Veronese, Barocci, Annibale Carracci, Domenichino, Salvator Rosa, Nicolas Poussin, Philippe de Champaigne, Van Dyck, Guido Reni, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Joshua Reynolds, Eugène Delacroix, Ingres, Géricault.
The library of the Petit Château contains over 1500 manuscripts and 17,500 printed volumes, that is part of the collection of over 700 incunabula, and some 300 medieval manuscripts, including one page of the Registrum Gregorii (c. 983), the Les très riches heures du Duc de Berry, the Ingeborg Psalter and 40 miniatures from Jean Fouquet's Book of Hours of Etienne Chevalier.
The main French formal garden, featuring extensive parterres and water features, was laid out principally by André Le Nôtre for the Grand Condé. The park also contains a French landscape garden with a cascade, pavilions, and a rustic ersatz village, the Hameau de Chantilly. The latter inspired the Hameau de la reine of Marie Antoinette in the Gardens of Versailles.
The estate overlooks the Chantilly Racecourse and the Grandes Écuries (Great Stables) which contains the Living Museum of the Horse. According to legend, Louis Henri, Duc de Bourbon, Prince of Condé believed that he would be reincarnated as a horse after his death. In 1719, he asked the architect, Jean Aubert to build stables suitable to his rank.
The World Monuments Fund included the site in the 1998 World Monuments Watch to call attention to water infiltration and high humidity in the Galerie des Actions de Monsieur le Prince, and again in the 2002 World Monuments Watch due to the precarious condition of the entire estate. Funding for restoration work was provided from various sources, including American Express and the Generali Group. Subsequently, in response to an appeal for the restoration of the château, The Aga Khan donated €40m, accounting for more than half of a €70m needed by the Institut de France to complete the project. In 2008 the World Monuments Fund completed the restoration of the Grande Singerie, a salon with paintings on the walls of monkeys engaged in human activities, once a fashionable salon motif, but with few examples surviving today.
Modern uses
The château and the Great Stables were featured in the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill, as the home of villainous Max Zorin (played by Christopher Walken) which was being infiltrated by Bond (played for the last time by Roger Moore) in his quest to find out more about Zorin, who had already aroused suspicions of MI6 with various business activities, and ultimately eliminate him.
Pink Floyd performed, on two consecutive nights, at the château during their The Division Bell tour on July 30–31, 1994.
Every two years, in June, the "Nuits de Feu" international fireworks competition is held in the château's garden.
Ronaldo married model and MTV VJ Daniela Cicarelli in the château in 2005. The ceremony reportedly cost €700,000.
Every May, a rowing regatta, the Trophee des Rois, is held in the grounds. French university crews compete in the 750m race for a trophy.
David Gilmour, guitarist and singer of Pink Floyd performed at the venue on 16 July 2016 as part of his Rattle That Lock world tour.
The video game Battlefield 1 features a level that is based around the Château called "Ballroom Blitz".

Château de Chantilly

Le premier château, situé sur un ancien fief du Moyen âge, est celui de Petimus. Il était situé en contrebas du château actuel.
Un des premiers possesseurs connu est François de l’Hospital en 1620.
Il ne reste plus sur place qu’un seul témoin des siècles passés : la chapelle construite par Claude Le Picard en 1670, qui fut conservée pour servir de sépulture particulière.
En 1887,le prince Joachim Murat, 5ème du nom, marié à Cécile Ney d’Echingen (arrière petite fille du Maréchal Ney) acheta au Baron Camont de Valence et à Marie de Beaumont les anciens domaines de Petimus et d’Evosseaux. Il fit démolir le château de Petimus et construire tout près des ruines l’actuel château par les architectes Blondel et Langlois. Le parc à l’anglaise fut dessiné par le paysagiste Duchene en vue d’en faire un paysage romantique. De nombreux artisans de Chambly contribuèrent à cette réalisation.
Le Prince Murat, passionné de chasse à courre possédait un équipage de grande qualité qui avait pour nom, le Rallye de Chambly.
Le Prince et sa famille vivaient dans le château. Les grandes écuries abritaient les chevaux d’attelages et les voitures, les communs, construits en 1896, logeaient le personnel et le petit haras (aujourd’hui centre équestre) servait de haras d’élevage de chevaux de courses. Le chenil comprenait alors une meute de 40 chiens.
Grand amateur d’élevage, le Prince a imposé un élevage de plus de 150 têtes de moutons, dans cette région où cette pratique est peu commune. Il fit même venir un troupeau d’autruches d’Afrique du Sud.
Des maisons de gardiens furent construites dans le Parc. Elles accueillaient des familles entières dévouées au domaine et au Château. Le gîte des 3 Chênes était autrefois le pavillon du garde chasse.
Pendant la première guerre mondiale, dès 1914, la grande salle des attelages servit d’hôpital de campagne (hôpitaux auxiliaires n°38 et 26). Les bâtiments furent aménagés en plusieurs dortoirs de plus de 150 lits chacun.
A plusieurs reprises, des cérémonies de décorations furent organisées pour récompenser les soldats du front. Le Prince Murat venait accueillir les ambulances militaires et saluait les blessés.
Il fallait alors plus de deux ou trois heures pour rallier Paris par les routes pavées, où étaient acheminés les blessés les plus gravement atteints.
Le château fut occupé par les Allemands pendant la seconde guerre mondiale puis fut abandonné et pillé jusqu’à ce que M. Simonet (voir photo ci-contre) le rachète et commence à le rénover en 1977.
Depuis le château appartient à sa descendance.
