Château de Brie is a castle located in Champagnac-la-Rivière, France. Château de Brie

The Château de Montbrun is a castle in the commune of Dournazac in the Haute-Vienne département of France. The castle was built in the 12th and 15th centuries, and was restored in the late 19th.
The castle stands within a deep valley. Built in the 12th century, its function was to defend the borders of the Duchy of Aquitaine. Though rebuilt in the 15th century, it still has the moat, high walls and a square keep topped with machicolations.
Montbrun is a fine example of a 15th-century castle. In plan rectangular, it is flanked in the corners with round towers and protected by water. Its narrow romanesque keep, 40 metres (131 ft) square, close up against one of the towers, gives it a strange appearance.
History
The castle (then called Trados) was built in 1179 by Aymeric Bruni (also called Brun) on his return from the Second Crusade. The Brun family, (Montbrun after 1366), remained owners until 1516. At the start of the Hundred Years' War, the castle was occupied by the English. It was retaken by the French in 1353. At the end of the century it was taken again by the English and partially destroyed. Between 1433 and 1438, square towers were replaced with round towers and the castle took on its present form.
In 1562, Montbrun was attacked by Protestants during the Wars of Religion and although it was not captured a fire raged through the castle.
During the French Revolution, at the instigation of people's representatives Borie and Brival, the castle was pillaged and destroyed and the archives were burned. The property was divided up and sold as national property. Restored in 1871, it suffered a serious fire in 1917. A second restoration was carried out between 1964 and 1966. In 2016, a member of the Thom family presented the French government with signed document from the Estates General dating from 1788 and the castle was returned to the only known descendent of Aymeric Bruni. Since May 2017, the French Ministry of Culture has supported the claim of ownership made by Benjamin Thom of Melbourne as the only direct descendant of Bruce Thom and Aymeric Bruni.
It has been a protected monument historique listed by the French Ministry of Culture since 1946 and will remain the property of the Thom family.

Château de Montbrun

Château de Rochechouart is a thirteenth-century French castle, located at the top of the confluence of the Grêne and Vayres rivers in the commune of Rochechouart within the département of Haute-Vienne.

Aymeric IV took part in the First Crusade at the side of Godfrey of Bouillon
Aymeric VI (1170-1230) built the current castle, of which the keep and the entry châtelet remain. In 1205, his wife Alix, accused of adultery by the intendant of the castle, was locked up in the lion's cage in the east tower. The animal did not devour her, but lay down at her feet instead. She was cleared and the intendant was thrown into cage, where he was eaten soon after.
Aymeric IX took part in 1283 in the Aragon expedition, at the side of French King Philippe III the Bold.
Simon and Jean I fought in Flanders in 1304 and 1328 beside Kings Philippe le Bel and Philippe VI. In 1346, Viscount Jean I took part in the battle of Crécy. He was killed ten years later, during the battle of Poitiers, defending King John II.
The castle was a centre of resistance to the English during the Hundred Years War with Louis, Chamberlain of king Charles V, companion-in-arms of Bertrand du Guesclin, then his son Jean II and his grandson Geoffroy, who was a companion of Joan of Arc.
Viscount Foucaud (1440-1472) was an advisor to king Louis XI.
Viscount Jean de Rochechouart-Ponville restored the castle in the French Renaissance style.
François, son of Jean, decorating the hunting room. He was condemned to exile, accused of the murder of Pierre Bermondet.
Claude, his son, decorated the Hercules room. He was a comrade in arms of the constable Anne de Montmorency, and was wounded and made captive at the battle of Saint-Quentin in 1557.
Françoise-Athenaïs de Rochechouart, also known as Madame de Montespan, was the favourite of Louis XIV.
During the Reign of Terror, viscountess Marie-Victoire de Rochechouart was arrested and imprisoned in Paris, where she was guillotined in 1794.
General-Count Louis-Victor-Léon de Rochechouart fought during Napoleonic wars. He took part in Russian and French Campaigns, and also the Battle of Berezina. Governor of Paris (1814-1821). His son Louis-Jules de Rochechouart sold the Castle to the general council of Haute-Vienne in 1936.
His lineage represents the Rochechouart dynasty today.
Today
Nowadays the castle houses the subprefecture buildings, and since 1985 the museum of contemporary art where one can admire the works of Dadaist artist, Raoul Hausmann, and works of international artists from the 1960s to today, such as Giuseppe Penone, Arte Povera, Christian Boltanski or Tony Cragg.
It is also possible to visit the hunting room where multicoloured frescos from the beginning of sixteenth century are displayed, and the Hercules room decorated with murals in grisaille from the mid-sixteenth century. In the main courtyard one can admire the gallery supported by twisted columns.
Château de Rochechouart is listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

Château de Rochechouart

Le château de Frugie est un château français implanté sur la commune de Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie dans le département de la Dordogne, en région Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Il fait l'objet d'une protection au titre des monuments historiques.
Présentation
Le château de Frugie se situe au nord-est de la Dordogne, en Périgord vert, à 100 mètres au sud-ouest de l'église du bourg de Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie. C'est une propriété privée.
À l'origine, il se présentait sous la forme d'un quadrilatère dont les côtés nord-ouest et sud-est ont disparu. Au début du xxie siècle, deux lignes de bâtiments subsistent : au sud-ouest, le logis encadré de deux tours massives rectangulaires, le tout couronné de mâchicoulis vers l'extérieur ; au nord-est des ruines recouvertes de lierre et précédées d'une douve sèche avec, côté intérieur, les restes d'une chapelle.
Il est inscrit au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 21 mars 1968 pour ses façades et sa toiture.
Histoire
Le château actuel, bâti aux xve et xvie siècles, succède à un repaire fortifié médiéval ravagé lors des conflits avec les Anglais.
L'entrée du logis sud est ornée d'un portail Louis XIII que précédait auparavant un pont-levis supprimé lors du comblement des douves. Le portail de la chapelle remonte au xviie siècle.
Le 18 avril 1672, Hélie d'Arlot de Frugie, chevalier, seigneur de Frugie, de Cumond et autres lieux y décède.
