The Château de Lacapelle-Marival is a castle in the commune of Lacapelle-Marival in the Lot département of France.
The castle dates originally from the 12th century, with further building and alterations in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The building is owned by the commune and used as offices. It is open to the public. It has been listed since 1939 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

The Château de Larroque-Toirac is a mediaeval castle in the commune of Larroque-Toirac in the Lot département of France. Its origins go back to the 13th century and it was modified at various times up to the last quarter of the 17th century.
Hanging from the side of a high cliff, dominating the village and the valley of the Lot River, in an exceptionally defensive site, the castle, which was on several occasions taken by the English, has preserved its mediaeval defence system.
Built as a fortified site in the 13th century, an enceinte was developed during the 14th. A new castle was built in the second half of the 15th century. Decoration from around 1515-1531 survives, as well as work carried out in the 17th century.
The seigneurial residence, where the original kitchen remains, includes very beautiful chimneys from the 15th century as well as frescos from the 16th century. The cliff behind the castle contains caves which served as trogloditic habitations in ancient times.
The castle entered the Wagner-Autesserre family in 1923. Previously, it had been used by the town hall of Larroque-Toirac as a school or accommodation for teachers.
In 1926, the castle was added to the supplementary list of historic monuments by the French Ministry of Culture, though this was later annulled. It was classified as a monument historique in 1995.
Though privately owned, the castle is open to visitors every summer.

The Château de Cénevières is a castle in the commune of Cénevières in the Lot département of France.
The castle dates from the 13th century and has been significantly altered over the years, notably in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries.
According to tradition, the castle belonged to Waïffe or Waifer, Duke of Aquitaine, and played a role in his war against Pepin the Short. The castle stands on a rock and appears as a collection of irregular buildings, flanked by towers and terraces. A former rampart wall connects the stables to the Gourdon Tower, which was, perhaps, the keep. In front of the entrance is a square building called the guard tower or postern, built in 1585. The Gothic openings have been replaced by large Renaissance windows and the defensive walls have been opened with dormers. A columned gallery circles the outside of the grand salon. An apartment has traces of a painted fresco mural showing the flight of Icarus and the chariot of the sun, the legend of Astyanax and the burning of Troy, and the kidnap of Helen.
The Château de Cénevières is privately owned. It has been listed since 1957 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.
The castle is open to visitors between April and early November. The castle also caters for weddings, conferences and other events.

The Château de Couanac is a castle in the commune of Varaire in the Lot département of France.
It was built in the 16th century by the powerful family of Hébrard de Saint-Sulpice, incorporating part of an earlier Romanesque church dedicated to Saint George.
The castle is composed of two corps de logis. The main logis is flanked by two towers, one round and the other square with machicolations at the top. At the bottom of the tower is the doorway to the chapel, situated partly under the tower, which has kept its Romanesque transept. Originally, the church's apse was in the east. The columns of the triumphal arch are based in the crypt and are surmounted by sculpted Romanesque capitals. The bodies of former owners are interred in the crypt. The Renaissance south façade has several mullioned windows and dormers surmounted with pediments. Several rooms still have plafonds à la française (French-style ceilings: joists the same width as the spaces between them; see Plafond à la française in French Wikipedia).
The second range of buildings, known as Château Bouscary, is to the south and has a round tower. In the courtyard, the entrance gateway is composed of segments of a circle, with sculptured framing in the form of a lopped tree. Following restoration, the Gothic arch at the entrance to the enceinte was transformed to the shape of a basket handle. In the castle's courtyard is a well partly dug into the rock and covered with a conical roof.
The Château de Couanac is private property and is open to the public. It has been listed since 1974 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

Château de Couanac

Château de Najac or the royal fortress of Najac is located in Najac, in the Aveyron département, in southern France.
The castle was built in 1253 by the villagers on the orders of Alphonse de Poitiers, brother of Saint Louis, on the site of an older castle (a square tower) built in 1100 by Bertrand of St Gilles, son of Raymond IV, count of Toulouse.
Architecture
The castle is built at the summit of a hill formed by a loop of the river.
The inner bailey of the castle forms a rough rectangle, with the longest side about 40 meters long. Towers project from the South and North walls, and there are towers at each corner, including an earlier square tower and a large round donjon from where the defence of the castle can be coordinated. The gate is protected by a barbican.
The castle has a world record with its 6.80 metre high archères (a thin aperture for archers), such a size being designed to allow use by three archers at the same time. A secret corridor, hidden within the walls, links the Romanesque tower to the chapel of the keep.
Possession of this castle, built 200 meters over the Aveyron River, was key to control of the region.
History
Najac has been near major events of history: the first English occupation, the Albigensian Crusade, the Hundred Years' War, the imprisonment of the Knights Templar, the peasants' revolts, and the French Revolution.
After having been used as a stone quarry in the 19th century, Najac was saved by the Cibiel family, who own it and open it to visitors. The Château de Najac is one of a group of 23 castles in Aveyron who have joined together to provide a tourist itinerary as the Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue. The castle has been listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture since 1925.
