In the Middle Ages, Villarejo was Encomienda Mayor de Castilla, of the Military Order of Santiago, and its relevance as head of territory at that time, attest to the castle and the House of the Tercia. In the world of confectionery, the "rosquillas de la Tia Javiera" are infamous and the true culinary heritage of the municipality. Tia Javiera was the neighbour of Villarejo who made famous the now-called "rosquillas de Santa Clara", which are eaten along with the "tontas", "listas" and the "francesas" during the San Isidro festivities.
