Peñafiel Castle is located in Peñafiel, Valladolid Province, Spain. The castle is more than 150 metres (490 ft) long and encloses an area about 10 m (33 ft) wide. Standing in the middle is a 20 m (66 ft) high three storey keep.
Fernan Gonzalez began construction on the Peñafiel site in 947, as a frontier outpost in defense against the Arabs. A castle was built in 1013 by Sancho Garcia to protect the land. Several other members of the Spanish nobility added to the castle including Juan Manuel and Pedro Girón. Blanche I, Queen of Navarre gave birth to the Charles, Prince of Viana in the keep of Peñafiel in 1421.

Peñafiel castle is built of Campaspero stone and is an example of the German Gothic style. It is 210 metres long by 33 metres wide.
The castle is located on a hill overlooking the valleys of Duratón and Botijas. Its exterior is uniform in appearance, and it has a single door. The keep has a rectangular floor plan and is over 30 metres high, 14.5 by 20 metres at its base, and is crowned by eight turrets. The tower is flanked by two courtyards. On the interior of the castle there are two floors and a stone vault. It was declared a National Monument in 1917, and is currently home to the Provincial Museum-Foundation of the Wines of Valladolid.

Peñafiel Сastle

The Castle of Curiel de Duero is the most ancient fortress in the province of Valladolid for it was built in the Roman date (a coin of Emperor Arcadius, from the fourth century AD, was found on site during the reconstruction works). The surrounding walls were probably, from the seventh century AD.
The first documentation about the castle dates from the eleventh century. The building belonged to several kings and queens of Castile and Leon (Alfonso VII, Alfonso VIII, Alfonso IX, Fernando III "The Saint", Alfonso X "The Wise", Sancho IV "The Brave", Alfonso XI, Pedro I "The Cruel", Enrique II of Trastámara, etc).
The Castle was part of the dowry valuables in the marriages of Leonor Plantagenet, Infanta Estefanía, Doña Berenguela "The Great", Doña Violante, etc. For about two hundred years it was a prison for nobles and kings: Jaime IV of Mallorca, the Infante Don Juan, the Earl of Pembroke, Diego of Castilla (son of Pedro I) imprisoned in Curiel for 54 years (he was set free at the age of 64). The Castle has been a witness of the Reconquest of the valley of the river Duero over the Muslims, and also of the repopulation of these lands in the 9th to 11th centuries.
As the castle stands on top of a rocky hill it was practically unconquerable; even nowadays its imposing silhouette makes the visitor wonder about how could it be built, and what a hard work must have been the reconstruction from absolute ruins.
Today the fortress has become a luxurious hotel with 26 guest rooms and suites, several function rooms, restaurant, dining rooms for banquets, swimming pool, solarium, terraces for meetings and celebrations, etc.

Encinas Castle, locally known as Castillo de Encinas, lies in the village of Encinas de Esgueva, in the province of Valladolid in Spain.
Encinas Castle is situated in a small depression in the village so its use was, probably, more residential than military. It is dated back to the 14th century also because its keep doesn't stand out.
The castle consists of a small and square enclosure, with two square towers in two of its corners. One of these served as the keep. In the other two corners the crenelated walls are raised to the same height as the two towers thus giving the false impression that the castle had four towers. There is a small stone ditch at the feet of the walls, which is provided with a low defensive wall.
In medieval times the castle gate could be reached via a drawbridge over the small ditch. At present this drawbridge is replaced by a concrete ramp.
In the 1950's the ruined castle was acquired by the Ministry of Agriculture. They restored it and turned it into a cereal silo. During these restorations however they blinded original windows and totally destroyed its medieval interior.
This is a nice-looking castle on the outside. Due to its present use as a cereal silo, its interior can't be visited. But there's nothing to be seen inside but a dusty industrial concrete interior as I saw when a farmer with his tractor (hence the concrete ramp) drove into the gate. It is located only a couple of kilometers east from Villafuerte Castle.

Encinas Castle

La muralla de Fuentidueña es una construcción militar ubicada en el municipio segoviano de Fuentidueña (Castilla y León).
Fue construida entre los siglos XII y XIII, y consta de tres paños de muro en los lados norte, sur y oeste, mientras que el este se protege por un cortado natural sobre el río Duratón. Conserva como accesos al recinto la puerta del Palacio, la puerta de la Calzada y la puerta de Alfonso VIII.

El Castillo de Villafuerte de Esgueva, también conocido como "Castillo de Garci Franco de Toledo", se sitúa en Villafuerte de Esgueva, provincia de Valladolid, Castilla y León, España. Es Bien de Interés Cultural desde 1988.
Historia
Construido en el siglo XV, fue residencia de la familia Franco, judíos conversos provenientes de Toledo, que adquirieron el señorío de Villafuerte.​ Se construyó siguiendo el modelo de castillo llamado escuela de Valladolid.
Actualidad
Actualmente es propiedad de la Asociación Española de Amigos de los Castillos. Está bastante completo, pero en proceso de restauración. La torre del homenaje está restaurada y amueblada.
Descripción
Es un castillo señorial acomodado al estilo de otros de la época, como el de Fuensaldaña y el de Torrelobatón.
