Castillo de Colomares is a monument, in the form of a castle, dedicated to the life and adventures of Christopher Colombus. It was built near Benalmádena in Spain, between 1987 and 1994. Covering an area of 1,500 meters, it is the largest monument in the world to the explorer, but also contains the smallest church in the world.

Bil-Bil Castle is one of Benalmadena’s most iconic landmarks and one of the most popular attractions for visitors who choose to spend their holidays here.
Located on the promenade just a 10 minute walk from Sunset Beach Club, this Moorish-looking building isn’t really a castle. Although it looks like it was built centuries ago, nothing could be further from the truth.
As mentioned above, although Bil-Bil Castle looks like a medieval Moorish fortress, it was actually built in the first half of the 20th century as a private residence.
Most historical references to Bil-Bil Castle state that this private residence was built by Leon Hermann, a wealthy French or Belgian (we’re not too sure of this detail) businessman who gave the task of building the ‘castle’ to the architect, Enrique Atencia in 1927. However, the onset of the Spanish Civil War made the family give up the property which was then bought by the Schenstrom family.
William Schenstrom was an American businessman who arrived in Benalmadena with his wife, Elsie, and his son whose name was also William. He soon decided that the property needed more work: He redesigned and extended the original plans to make the castle what it is today. Apparently the builders who were working on the property called the owner by his nickname, Bill, and when his son used to come on site, they called him Bill too; that’s where the name came Bil-Bil came from! J It was at this time that the ‘castle’ became a famous local landmark  thanks to the luxurious decoration of its interiors and the privileged position facing the sea.

Bil Bil Castle

Sohail Castle (Spanish: Castillo Sohail) is a castle in Fuengirola, Spain. It was built in AD 956 by Abd-ar-Rahman III to strengthen the coastal defenses.[1] In 2000 the Town of Fuengirola renovated the ruins of the castle turning it into a tourist attraction and functioning space used for concerts and other festivals. Excavated stone ruins on public display at the western base of the hill on which the castle sits are dated back to before the Roman Republic occupied Fuengirola at least 300 BC.

Sohail Castle

The Alcazaba is a palatial fortification in Málaga, Spain. It was built by the Hammudid dynasty in the early 11th century.[1]
This is the best-preserved alcazaba (from the Arabic al-qasbah, قصبة, meaning "citadel") in Spain. Adjacent to the entrance of the Alcazaba are remnants of a Roman theatre dating to the 1st century BC, which are undergoing restoration. Some of the Roman-era materials were reused in the Moorish construction of the Alcazaba.
Ferdinand and Isabella captured Málaga from the Moors after the Siege of Málaga (1487), one of the longest sieges in the Reconquista, and raised their standard at the "Torre del Homenaje" in the inner citadel.
According to architect restorer, Leopoldo Torres Balbás, the Alcazaba of Málaga is the prototype of military architecture in the Taifa period, with its double walls and massive entry fortifications. Its only parallel is the castle of Krak des Chevaliers in Syria.
The Alcazaba of Málaga is built on a hill in the centre of the city, overlooking the port, and comprises two walled enclosures. It was formerly connected to the city ramparts which formed a third defensive wall but only two inner walls remain. The first, built around the topography of the hill, completely encloses the second inner area and is dotted with defensive towers.

The magnificent Castillo de Gibralfaro sits on a high hill overlooking Malaga city and port, and dates back to the 10th century. The image of Gibralfaro is well known: you can see it in both Malaga city and province's seal and flag.
The hill where the Gibralfaro is situated forms part of the Montes de Malaga mountain range, located to the east and north of Malaga city - this land is protected by the Montes' natural park status.
HISTORY
The castle was built in 929AD by Abd-al-Rahman III, Caliph of Cordoba, on a former Phoenician enclosure and lighthouse, from which its name was derived - gebel-faro (Arabic and Greek, meaning rock of the lighthouse). Yusef 1, Sultan of Granada, enlarged it at the beginning of the 14th century, also adding the double wall down to the Alcazaba.
The castle is famous for its three-month siege by the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, which ended only when hunger forced the Malagueños to surrender. Afterwards Ferdinand occupied the site, while his queen took up residence in the town. Interesting historic fact: this was the first conflict in which gunpowder was used by both sides.

Gibralfaro Castle

The Castle of Santa Catalina is one of the most charming hotels in Malaga. It has been declared a Property of Cultural Interest and is located in the most exclusive residential area of Malaga, in El Limonar.
The Castle of Santa Catalina is also called "Hotel Monumento". This hotel has a lot of charm, as it offers wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea.
This complex was built in 1624, by order of King Philip IV, to defend the city of Malaga from enemy attacks. At the beginning of the 20th century, this place passed into the hands of Manuel Loring, Count of Mieres, who ordered the construction of a Neo - Arab style palace next to the fort.
