Guided Tours
The exhibition “Un castillo, un camino” (one castle, one way) in the museum of the History Building reveals that the Castellet Castle has always been linked to guarding transport routes, going as far back as Iberian times, 2,500 years ago. This exhibition shows the findings from the archaeological excavations at the Castle. Guided tours combine explanations from guides and audiovisual projections.
In the room dedicated to Pre-history and Archaeology, you will find an exhibition about El Mèdol Roman quarry. The quarry forms part of the archaeological ensemble at Tarragona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located 10 kilometres from the ancient capital of the Roman region Hispania Citerior, adjacent to today’s AP-7 motorway. Ashlar extracted from this quarry and used in Tarragona’s main monuments can still be admired today.
The guided tours take place on the second weekend of each month, on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 2 pm. To make the most of your visit, which will last around 45 minutes, groups of about 15 people. The tour is free.
