Although very battered, the silhouette of this powerful fortress is outlined on the horizon as a milestone reminiscent of Queen's past greatness. The walled enclosure had 14 albarrana towers and defended to another inner enclosure of which they are only little remains. Among its towers stands the Tribute. Several cisterns are conserved, similar some of them to those of Cáceres and Medellín. The fence that is preserved is from the Almohad period (12th century), with various later restorations. Among them those made by the master of the Order of Santiago Alonso Cárdenas (XV century) and others in the years 1515 and 1575.
