Castle Waldeck rests on the remnants of an 11th-century fortification, towering over the town of Waldeck, in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg in Hesse (Germany). The castle is situated to the north of the Kellerwald-Edersee nature reserve, 120 metres above the Edersee's north shore, on a steep, wooded rock close to the centre of the halftimbered town of Waldeck. What better place to take in the beautiful scenery!

Formerly the ancestral seat and residence of the Counts of Waldeck, the fortification was later used as military barracks. In 1734 it was a state penitentiary, and in subsequent years was used as state archive, forestry office, and, as early as 1906, was put to use as a hotel. Today it belongs to the Waldeckian domanial administration and is public property.

In September 2009, the hotel subsidiary manufacturing company reopened the redesigned 'Hotel Schloss Waldeck.

Die Garvensburg ist ein im Stil des Historismus erbautes Schloss in Züschen, einem Stadtteil von Fritzlar im nordhessischen Schwalm-Eder-Kreis.

Geschichte

Das Schloss wurde von 1894 bis 1898 von dem Industriellen Wilhelm Garvens erbaut, der 1908 geadelt wurde und sich danach Wilhelm von Garvens-Garvensburg nennen durfte. Er baute sich ein Jagdschloss im Stil des späten Historismus, eine burgartige Villa, umgeben von einem englischen Garten. Reste der ehemaligen Burg Züschen der bis ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert hier begüterten Herren von Meysenbug, die im Mannesstamm 1810 mit dem Tod von Heinrich von Meysenbug ausgestorben waren, wurden in den Bau integriert. An der Ostseite des Schlosses befinden sich vier Wappen der Familie von Meysenbug aus den Jahren 1500 bis 1600.

Das Schloss blieb bis in die 1970er Jahre im Besitz der Familie Garvens. Danach beherbergte es ein Hotel und Restaurant sowie eine Werbeagentur und ein Beratungsunternehmen. Hotel und Restaurant wurden zum Jahresende 2019 geschlossen. Im August 2020 wurde das Schloss verkauft und wird künftig privat genutzt.

Hessenstein Castle (German: Burg Hessenstein) is a castle near Ederbringhausen in Vöhl in Landkreis Waldeck-Frankenberg in Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the hill of the Keseberg, 327 m above sea level. It was constructed between 1328 and 1342. It is used a youth hotel and center for educational meetings for protection of environment, run by the Naturschutzbund Hessen (NABU) and other organisations.

Hessenstein Castle

Arolsen Castle (German: Residenzschloss Arolsen) is a baroque styled Schloss in Bad Arolsen, Hesse, Germany. It continues to serve as the family home of the former ruling family of Waldeck and Pyrmont. It was birthplace of Queen consort Emma of the Netherlands.

Built during early 18th century, the castle main building was completed in 1728, the furnishings, equipment, furniture, remained for several decades until the castle was finally handed over to its use.

Built in 1840, the "Prince Waldecksche Court Library" today contains virtually all literature of the 18th Century in relevant fields of knowledge. The collection focuses on the Universal geography, history, literature, and militaria.

The library is known for its "tape" books or "klebeband" books. These are blank books that could be filled with engravings that were popular among notability. The Arolsen books are still intact, while many others have been disassembled in the past. These have been digitised by a society created specifically for this purpose.

The castle is now a museum and is still inhabited by Wittekind, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont and his family.
