Hoheneck Castle is a medieval castle above Ipsheim and also a district of the municipality of Ipsheim in the Landkreis Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim in Middle Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. Since 1984, the youth castle serves as an educational institution of the Youth Council of the city of Nuremberg.

History

Hoheneck was first mentioned in 1132.

The City of Nuremberg acquired the castle in 1953 and it is the only castle owned by the city, as the Nuremberg Castle is owned by the Free State of Bavaria. Since April 1984 the Youth Castle serves as a youth education centre for the Youth Council of Kreis Nuremberg.

In 2007 the castle celebrated its 875th anniversary.

Das Blaue Schloss ist ein Schloss in Obernzenn im mittelfränkischen Landkreis Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim.

Geschichte

Bereits im Mittelalter befand sich am Standort des Schlosses eine befestigte Anlage, die von einem Wassergraben umgeben war. Die Freiherren von Seckendorff-Gutend nutzten die Fundamente des Vorgängerbaus, um 1745 das Rote Schloss neben dem Blauen Schloss zu errichten.

Mit dem Bau des Blauen Schlosses hatte schon 1696 die Familie von Seckendorff-Aberdar begonnen. Eine zweite Bauphase folgte in den Jahren 1711 bis 1718, eine dritte von 1756 bis 1758: 1696 hatte der Ansbacher Kammerjunker Christoph Sigmund von Seckendorff-Aberdar das alte Schloss der Familie Aberdar erhalten und mit dem Bau des heutigen Nordflügels des Blauen Schlosses begonnen. Die zweite Bauphase geht auf seinen Sohn Philipp Albrecht zurück, der ebenfalls Kammerjunker in Ansbach war. Er nahm für die Planung des Osttraktes wohl den Hofbaumeister Gabriel de Gabrieli in Anspruch. Christoph Ludwig von Seckendorff-Aberdar, der Enkel Christoph Sigmunds, ließ den Westtrakt bauen. Er war Premierminister und Geheimer Ratspräsident und in dieser Funktion der wichtigste Berater des Markgrafen Carl Wilhelm Friedrich von Brandenburg-Ansbach. Der Bau wurde 1759 mit einem Allianzwappen der Familien Seckendorff und Cronfeld geschmückt, das der Bildhauer Philipp Hochstein aus Ansbach schuf.

Die Gartenanlage planten Christoph Ludwig von Seckendorff-Aberdar und Franz Felix Schack. Möglicherweise beruhten die Entwürfe auf den Ideen des Hofbaudirektors Leopoldo Retty. 1742 wurde der Schlossgraben durch eine Brücke aus Eichenholz mit gusseisernem Geländer überspannt.

Die beiden spätbarocken Schlösser in Obernzenn sind nach den vorherrschenden Farbtönen ihrer Fassadengestaltung benannt.

Der Ostflügel des Blauen Schlosses kann im Rahmen von Führungen besichtigt werden. Er enthält einen Bildersaal mit Familienporträts aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert und diverse Repräsentationsräume, die mit Stuckaturen geschmückt sind. In einer Museumswerkstatt werden Projekte mit Themen rund um den Absolutismus angeboten.

Blaues Schloss Obernzenn

Schon bei der Einweihung des Alten Schloßes nach dem Abschluß der Renovierung 1983 war in einem Teil des 1. Obergeschosses neben einer Sammlung von historischen Militaria auch eine private Spielzeugsammlung ausgestellt worden, die jedoch über Jahre hinweg nur bei besonderen Schloßführungen zu sehen war. Die übrigen Räume im 1. Obergeschoß wurden von der Firma Kube geschäftlich genutzt. Nach der Renovierung des ehem. Pferdestalles wurde das Nutzungskonzept "Spielzeugmuseum" im Alten Schloß in vollem Umfang möglich, da nun für das Museum das ganze 1. Obergeschoß zur Verfügung stand. 1988 wurde das Spielzeugmuseum im Alten Schloß mit zunächst vier Ausstellungsräumen eröffnet und in den folgenden Jahren auf nun gesamt dreizehn Räume erweitert, wobei in acht Räumen Spielzeug zu sehen sind, während die übrigen Räume das Schloßmuseum mit Wohnräumen und Hauskapelle bilden. Das Spielzeugmuseum zeigt in über 30 großen Vitrinen Puppen, Puppenstuben und -küchen mit Zubehör, die das tägliche Leben vergangener Zeit im Kleinen darstellen; dazu Spiele für drinnen und draußen, Eisenbahnen, Schaukelpferde, Holzspielzeug, Zinn- und Bleisoldaten, Kinderuniformen, Baukästen, Tretautos, Blechspielzeug, optisches Spielzeug und vieles mehr, einen Zeitraum von ungefähr 1780 bis 1950 umfassend.

Altes Schloss (Sugenheim) (Inneres Schloss)

Schloss Virnsberg ist eine Schlossanlage, die ungewöhnlicherweise aus einer Höhenburg und einem Wasserschloss besteht. Das Schloss steht unmittelbar nordwestlich über dem Ort Virnsberg, Gemeinde Flachslanden, Landkreis Ansbach in Mittelfranken, Bayern, und ist eine Sehenswürdigkeit im Naturpark Frankenhöhe.

Geschichte

Die 1235 erstmals erwähnte Burg Virnsberg war ursprünglich in Besitz der Reichsministerialen von Uffenheim. 1259 wurde die zweite Hälfte vom Burggrafen Konrad I. gekauft und blieb bis 1294 in Besitz der Burggrafschaft Nürnberg. 1294 wurde sie dem Deutschen Orden samt Zugehörungen übereignet. Die Kommende Virnsberg gehörte zur Deutschordensballei Franken. Ab 1806 wechselte die Burg häufig die Besitzer; es waren meist Privatleute, aber auch Institutionen (z. B. die Evangelische Wohlfahrt). 1977 erwarb der Nürnberger Rechtsanwalt Friedrich von Herford die Burg und übereignete sie im Jahr 2001 an den gemeinnützigen Schlossverein Virnsberg e. V.

Im Jahr 2017 wurde Schloß Virnsberg an eine Münchner Investorenfirma verkauft. Verwaltet wird das gesamte Anwesen nun über die Schloß Virnsberg GmbH & Co. KG.

Schloss Virnsberg

The Ullstadt palace complex in Ullstadt , Markt Sugenheim in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district , was built in the 18th century according to plans by Johann Dientzenhofer and is now owned by the Barons von und zu Frankenstein .

Johann Peter von Franckenstein acquired the Ullstädter Schloss from the distressed family of the Barons von Seckendorff . From 1718 to 1725 a new moated castle, today's main castle, was built according to plans by Johann Dientzenhofer on the site of the old castle. The builder was the widow Margarethe von Franckenstein, nee by Eyb. Above the entrance door of the main castle is the family coat of arms of the von Franckensteins family with the symbols of those of Cleen (three combined clovers) and those of Sachsenhausen (a helmet) as well as the coat of arms of the Eyb family (three scallops). The two side wings, built by the master builder and architect Johann Jakob Michael Küchel , go back to the sons of Margarethes von Franckenstein, Johann Philipp Anton , Prince-Bishop of Bamberg, and Johann Philipp Ludwig Ignaz von Frankenstein , Canon of Würzburg, who built a summer residence here . Ferdinand Tietz , Bamberg court sculptor, made the plastic decorations and figures.

The main castle still serves as the home of the von Franckenstein family. After going through the front door you come to the reception hall. The individual living rooms and the house chapel are arranged around an inner courtyard. The blue room, the leather room and the mirror room are on the upper floor. All rooms have extensive wall and ceiling stucco showing the family coat of arms and stucco paintings. The side wings served partly as stables.

Of the six pillars at the castle entrance, the inner ones bear a crowned lion holding a prince-bishop's coat of arms. They stood at the entrance of the Reuther Tores in Forchheim until the fortress walls were razed (1875) . When the gate structures were dismantled, Baron von Franckenstein acquired the well-made sculptures for his Ullstadt castle. The other posts have trophy sculptures.

Schlossanlage Ullstadt

Das Schloss Rügland ist eine zweiteilige Wasserschlossanlage in Rügland. Sie gehört zu den wenigen Wasserschlössern in Mittelfranken und wurde bis 1983 saniert.

Vorgeschichte

Das Rüglander Gebiet war schon während der Steinzeit besiedelt; eine erste Erwähnung des Ortes erfolgte im Jahr 1137. Damals wurde das Besitzrecht an Rügland Berta, der Witwe des Gerunch von Wielandsheim, zugesprochen. 1147 ging Rügland als Lehen an das Stift St. Gumbert in Ansbach über. Spätestens 1298 waren die Herren von Vestenberg Besitzer der Burg Rosenberg und der Wasserburg in Rügland. Reste der Burg sind noch erhalten.

Altes Schloss
Am 3. September 1584 verkaufte Hanns von Vestenberg seinen Besitz an seinen Vetter Ernst von Crailsheim, der Statthalter in Ansbach war. Die damals noch mindestens zum Teil erhaltene Burg Rosenberg wurde zu diesem Zeitpunkt als „altes Haus“ bezeichnet. Vermutlich wurde der Bau im Zuge des Dreißigjährigen Krieges zerstört; jedenfalls wurde er 1690 nur noch als eingefallenes Schloss bezeichnet. Das Wasserschloss, das ebenfalls in den Besitz des Ernst von Crailsheim überging, wurde 1611 durch das heute als „Altes Schloss“ bezeichnete Gebäude ersetzt.

Vom „Alten Schloss“ ist der Nordflügel erhalten geblieben, der ein Fachwerkobergeschoss besitzt. Auch die Schlossbrücke sowie eine Tordurchfahrt, an der das Wappen der Herren von Crailheim und Dölzkau angebracht ist, stammt noch von diesem Bau. Das „Alte Schloss“ beherbergt heute noch eine einstige Wachstube und die Kapelle St. Elisabeth, die von der katholischen Gemeinde des Ortes genutzt wird. Vermutlich gab es schon vor dem Bau des „Alten Schlosses“ eine Kirche oder Kapelle dieses Namens im Ort, da Kraft von Vestenberg schon 1413 eine ewige Messe für Rügland stiftete. Etwas älter als das „Alte Schloss“ dürften die zugehörigen Wirtschaftsgebäude sein. Sie stammen wohl aus der Zeit um 1600.

Neues Schloss

Hannibal Friedrich Freiherr von Crailsheim ließ ab April 1714 das „Neue Schloss“ bauen, das den Mittel- und Südflügel der Gesamtanlage bildet. Die Pläne stammten vom Freiherrn Karl Friedrich von Zocha, dem späteren Ansbacher Hofbaumeister und markgräflichen Minister.

Der erste Stock des „Neuen Schlosses“ dient heute als Familienmuseum der Herren von Crailsheim, die das Schloss im Sommer nach wie vor bewohnen, und als Veranstaltungsort. Dort werden Funde von der Ausgrabung bei Burg Rosenberg gezeigt. Der Mittelsaal weist ein Deckengemälde mit mythologischen Darstellungen auf, außerdem eine Portraitgalerie von Adligen.

Schlosspark
Der Schlosspark ist mit Figuren aus Sandstein geschmückt. Diese Skulpturen, die Venus, Amor, Mars, Zeus, Herkules und Flora zeigen, stammen wie auch die Balustrade des inneren Schlosshofes vom Handwerksmeister Sommer aus Künzelsau.




Wasserschloss Rugland

Das Schloss Schwarzenberg ist ein Schloss bei Scheinfeld im fränkischen Steigerwald. Der bauliche Ursprung des Schlosses war eine mittelalterliche Wehranlage, die später in ein repräsentatives Schloss umgebaut wurde. Der Ursprung der Burg ist noch gut zu erkennen: Wehrhafte Wälle, Kasematten und Wehrtürme zeugen noch vom einstigen Zweck. Der verzierte Palas des Schlosses steht auch aus Sicht der andersartigen Architektur in einem deutlichen Kontrast.

Geschichte

1150 erfolgte die erste urkundliche Erwähnung einer Burganlage, die sich im Besitz der Grafen zu Castell befand. Diese Annahme ist aber nicht unumstritten, denn es kann sich bei der Urkunde auch um die Burg Schwarzenburg bei Waldmünchen handeln. Gesichert ist dagegen die Existenz einer edelfreien Familie von 1215–1235, die mit einem kranken Domherrn 1250 in Würzburg endet. Wenig später tritt die Burg erstmals in der Casteller Erbteilungsurkunde um 1258/1265 in Erscheinung; der Turm wird 1274 genannt.

1405–1421: Nach Besitz durch die Familien von Hohenlohe und von Vestenberg erwarb Ritter Erkinger VI. von Seinsheim, Ahnherr des Hauses Schwarzenberg, die Burg.

1607 kam es zur Zerstörung der mittelalterlichen Burg durch ein Feuer.

1608–1618: Graf Wolfgang Jacob von Schwarzenberg zu Hohenlandsberg ließ die Burg als Schloss im Stil der Renaissance wiederaufbauen. Der bekannte Augsburger Stadtbaumeister Elias Holl erstellte die Entwürfe, die Bauausführung lag bei den Nürnberger Baumeistern Jakob Wolff, Vater und Sohn. Die Innenausstattung wurde nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg erneuert.

Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg wurde Schloss Schwarzenberg ebenso wie Scheinfeld und Oberscheinfeld ab Herbst 1631 von schwedischen Kleinverbänden geplündert.

1646 fiel der Adelssitz nach dem Tod des Grafen Georg Ludwig von Schwarzenberg zu Hohenlandsberg wieder an die so genannte niederländische (die künftig fürstliche) Linie des Hauses Schwarzenberg.

1670–1674: Aus Anlass der Erhebung des Hauses Schwarzenberg in den Reichsfürsten-Stand wurde als letzter Bauteil der „Schwarze Turm“ erbaut. Er markiert den höchsten Gebäudeteil des Schlosses.

17. Jahrhundert: Das Haus Schwarzenberg verlagerte den Schwerpunkt seiner Herrschaft nach Wien und Böhmen, das Schloss blieb jedoch bis 1806 Sitz der Regierung und Verwaltung der reichsunmittelbaren fürstlichen Grafschaft Schwarzenberg. Das königlich bayerische Herrschaftsgericht Schwarzenberg in Scheinfeld bestand von 1814 bis 1848. Es war anschließend bis 1852 königlich bayerische Gerichts- und Polizeibehörde, dann Landgericht.

Unter Fürst Adolph Joseph (1832–1914) wurde das Schloss von 1900 bis 1902 umfassend saniert.

Auf dem Schloss befand sich die Schwarzenbergische Brauerei, deren Betreiber Wilhelm Holzwarth ( 1875) 1928 in Uffenheim das Uffenheimer Tageblatt gründete.

1940: Die Nationalsozialisten beschlagnahmten das Schloss und richteten eine Gauschulungsburg ein. Gegen Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurden deutsche Flüchtlinge einquartiert.

1945–1949: Bei ihrem Vorstoß nach Nürnberg besetzte die US-Armee das Schloss und nutze es als Lazarett. Ca. 1000 Flüchtlingen aus dem Baltikum bot es als Behelfsquartier der UNO vorübergehend eine Unterkunft.

1986: Das Dokumentationszentrum zur Förderung der unabhängigen tschechoslowakischen Literatur zog in das Schloss ein. Für diesen Zweck ließ Karl zu Schwarzenberg Räume im Schloss einrichten. Im Schloss entstand auch ein kleiner Verlag zum Drucken von Untergrundliteratur.

2015 begann eine Renovierung von Schloss Schwarzenberg.

Heutige Nutzung

Karl zu Schwarzenberg, der von 2007 bis 2009 und von 2010 bis 2013 Außenminister Tschechiens war und Oberhaupt des Adelshauses ist, bewohnt zeitweise das Schloss. Im Schloss betrieb die Mathilde-Zimmer-Stiftung früher ein privates Mädchen-Gymnasium und führt heute eine private Real- und Fachoberschule, deren Schüler teilweise außerhalb der Schlossmauern in einem Internat untergebracht sind. Es werden Führungen durch das Schloss angeboten. Über das Gelände des Schlosses verläuft der Fränkische Marienweg.



Schloss Schwarzenberg

The history of the majestic Colmberg Castle extends from the Stauffer Emperors via the robber barons up to Margrave Friederich I. True stories blend in an exciting and fascinating way with mysterious sagas of white ladies and ghosts, which are a must in a castle as old as Colmberg’s.

One of the most important deeds – alongside the reference to two castle damsels, Sophie and Gertrud in 1269 in the council annals of Rothenburg – is a purchasing agreement of 17 July 1318.

In 1415 Friedrich VI. of Hohenzollern becomes Markgrave of Brandenburg.

In 1791 Colmberg falls under Prussian administration.

In 1806 – 1880 the castle becomes the seat of the revenue office of the Kingdom of Bavaria.

In 1927 – 1964 the castle is owned by the last Imperial Consul in Japan.

Since 1964 the Unbehauen family of Colmberg buy the castle and reconstruct it into a comfortable hotel.

Colmberg Castle

12th to 14th century: Frankenberg as a strategic base and stage for local power struggles

Frankenberg Castle, originally Burg Vorderfrankenberg, had a predecessor in the same area, Burg Hinterfrankenberg, which later became its local political hostile opponent. As a result, the ruins of Burg Hinterfrankenberg, which can still be found in the northwest of the palace complex, formed the “original” castle of Frankenberg.

A fortification on the Hexenstuhl located 500 meters to the east already existed in Carolingian times, probably dating back to before the 7th century. Remnants of the Hexenstuhl, in the form of two broken steps, can still be seen today in the nearby forest area of Frankenberg.
Burg Hinterfrankenberg was built around 1166 and is said to have been destroyed as it was considered to be the lair of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa’s (1122 – 1190). During the years to follow, Burg Probsteiwald, now also a ruin, was built over the ruins of Burg Hinterfrankenberg. Remnants of the double tower, a well and a wall are still preserved on the plateau. Built around 1200, as a four-part complex with two main castles and two outer baileys, by the bishop of Würzburg Konrad von Querfurt (1160 – 1202), it was first mentioned as a “castrum” in 1225.
In 1254 Burgrave Conrad I of Nuremberg (1186-1260/61) of the House of Hohenzollern built Burg Vorderfrankenberg as a counter-fortress, which represents the actual origin of today’s Frankenberg Castle, as a result of territorial power struggles below Burg Hinterfrankenberg. In 1271 the 14th Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Gottfried von Hohenlohe (1265 – 1309), a relative of the Burgraves of Nuremberg, was appointed patron of Burg Hinterfrankenberg. He was also given the surrounding forests and associated forestry, which also guaranteed him a considerable additional profit. As a result, the Bishop of Würzburg, Manegold von Neuenburg (†1303) handed over Burg Vorderfrankenberg to the von Seinsheim brothers, who were already occupying the castle, in order to keep an eye on the fiercely contested area around the Herrschaftsberg and Scheinberg. In 1290, Bishop Manegold transferred the castle to the cathedral provost Heinrich II of Wechmar (†1309). The castle then fell into disrepair and was declared dilapidated in 1344, which is why all cathedral provosts were obliged to pay 40 guilders for the maintenance of the castle in 1397. This resulted in a total amount of about 800 guilders, which today would correspond to about € 280,000.

15th and 16th centuries: during the Reformation – the Margrave Wars and the House of von Hutten

During the First Margrave War (1449–50), disputes between the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg and Albrecht III Achilles, Elector of Brandenburg (1414 – 1486), the castle was badly damaged in 1450, and also burned by Sigismund von Schwarzenberg (1430 – 1502) in 1462. Between 1481 and 1488, the castle was rebuilt by the provost and vicar general of Würzburg, Kilian of Bibra (1425 – 1494).

In the so-called Blaubeurer Vertrag (Treatry of Blaubeuren), Ulrich Lorenz von Hutten (1493 – 1531), the lesser known cousin of Ulrich von Hutten (1488 – 1523), Renaissance humanist, imperial knight and rebellious supporter of the Reformation, was granted an impressive sum of 27,000 guilders as a penalty for manslaughter. This was to compensate the death of Ulrich’s older brother Johann (1486 – 1515), who was killed by Duke Ulrich of Württemberg (1487 – 1550). What made Duke Ulrich kill Johann, however, remains a mystery to this day.

A second construction phase, initiated by Konrad von Hutten (1522 – 1556), in which the northeast wing with its staircase tower and dungeon was built, began around 1550. In March 1554, the adjacent Burg Hinterfrankenberg was destroyed by Albert Alcibiades (1522 – 1557), Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, and became a ruin. Just one month later, nearby Burg Hohenlandsberg, which is within sight, was first captured and then blown up. The fact that Vorderfrankenberg remained unscathed during the Second Margrave War (1552 – 1554) seems to have been a strategic masterpiece by Konrad von Hutten.

The Second Margrave War was a conflict between 1552 and 1555 involving numerous raids, plundering, and the destruction of many towns and castles in the empire, especially in Franconia, and a result of the uprising in which the protestant princes fought for religious freedom. Margrave Albrecht was initially able to assert himself successfully against the Catholic monasteries of Bamberg and Würzburg, as well as the two imperial cities of Nuremberg and Schweinfurt. Albrecht wanted to secure a position of supremacy in Franconia for the House of Brandenburg-Kulmbach but was ultimately defeated by a counter-alliance of numerous Catholic princes. After the end of the war, Konrad von Hutten was able to continue work on the castle until his death in the summer of 1554. Since the Frankenberg line died out with Konrad, protracted disputes arose over the fiefdom with the Margrave of Ansbach. After eleven years, a decision was finally reached by which the von Hutten line of the Birkenfeld dynasty emerged victorious. In 1568 the House of Ansbach and the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg jointly decided to enfeoff the two brothers Georg Ludwig (1545 – 1613) and Bernhard (1546). – 1613) von Hutten with Frankenberg. As a result, the older brother Georg Ludwig received Schloss Birkenfeld, the ancestral seat of the Birkenfeld line in Haßberge, Lower Franconia, while Frankenberg Castle went to Bernhard. In 1570, under Bernhard, the castle complex was completed in its basic structure including its three towers as it is today. Between 1592 and 1593, an outer bailey was also built to delimit Vorderfrankenberg to the east towards the mountain.

17th century: Expropriation and devastation – Frankenberg as a pawn in the Counter-Reformation and the Thirty Years’ War

Frankenberg Castle was occupied by the von Hutten family until 1783, when the Birkenfeld line died out. However, the more than 250-year rule of the von Hutten family was interrupted in the course of history when the estate was confiscated by an imperial commissioner on 20 October 1630. The House of von Hutten was accused of high treason. The accusation was that Wolfgang Albrecht von Hutten (1599 – 1626), who had fallen in military service in Hungary as an officer, had served against the Emperor and the Holy Roman Empire. At a court assembly in Linz a month later, a contract was signed between Emperor Ferdinand II (1578 – 1637) and Philipp Adolf von Ehrenberg (1583–1631), Prince Bishop of Würzburg, in which the Emperor left his right of cassation to the Prince Bishop. Philip Adolf von Ehrenberg acted with an iron fist and little mercy against any sympathisers of the reformation, alleged heretics and witches.
He was a co-initiator of the Counter-Reformation which gained a foothold in the Holy Roman Empire from 1631 onwards, but it was his bloody persecution of witches, which was a measure of re-Catholicisation, that best demonstrated his merciless approach. As the chief person responsible for by far the most serious wave of witch persecutions in the Würzburg monastery between 1626 and 1630, the Prince Bishop ordered around 42 fires in which at least 219 people were burned at the stake in the city of Würzburg alone. Under his regency, the total number of executions amounted to well over 900, a considerable number suggesting legal arbitrariness. Even children were burned, especially blind children, because they had been “possessed by the devil”. To prevent further executions with immediate effect, the Reichskammergericht or Imperial Chamber Court, and the Reichshofrat or Aulic Council, the two supreme courts of the Holy Roman Empire, intervened in 1630.

In 1632, the direct spiritual rule of the Würzburg monastery over Frankenberg was ended and the castle was again allowed to be administered by the von Hutten family. In the winter of 1639/40, a decree was issued to return the property to the House of von Hutten.
Nevertheless, it was a time that was still marked by conflicts within and outside the Holy Roman Empire. As a result, Frankenberg was not spared the devastating Thirty Years’ War (1618 – 1648) which had long since developed into more than just a religious war. In the summer of 1645, the castle was attacked and plundered by former Weimar troops who belonged to the Protestant Union, or Evangelical Union, a coalition of Protestant German states. Interestingly, this incident occurred despite the fact that the von Hutten family had been committed to the Reformation from the beginning and the von Hutten brothers had served on the Protestant side. This incident makes it all the more clear that, towards the end of the war, arbitrary raids had replaced religiously motivated campaigns. Enemy soldiers plundered everything of value. The landlord, Veit Ludwig von Hutten (1596 – 1655) later stated that he did not have a single ring on his hands or any money left. Mercilessly and relentlessly, they also destroyed the Meierei, first documented in 1429, at the foot of the Herrschaftsberg, and thus robbed the inhabitants of the castle of their economic foothold.

For almost 300 years, the manor had great agricultural significance, as between 1556 and 1848 an area of over 300 hectares of land belonged to the manor, which was mainly divided into arable land, meadows, wasteland, and sheepfold.

17th and 18th centuries: Periods of peace and upswing
Frankenberg’s peak under the auspices of the lords of von Hutten


The beginning of the 18th century was to usher in a new phase in which the estate underwent a number of economic and architectural innovations when, in 1700, Frankenberg passed on to Johann Friedrich von Hutten (1666 – 1716). The new lord had the abandoned Meierei, which had previously successfully guaranteed Frankenberg’s autonomy for over two centuries, rebuilt in 1704 at the request of his first wife Eva Juliana (1656 – 1700) in order to restore the organic connection between the castle and the farmyard. This was necessary as the farmyard, which had been largely destroyed in the Thirty Years’ War, had once again been seriously damaged by a major fire in 1702.

In the 18th century, a number of agricultural innovations followed, with a greater focus on the production of wine. Of the approximately 300 hectares of agricultural land in Frankenberg, only a small part of the lands were vineyards at that time, although the economic importance of this area was to increase at least temporarily. To clarify this, it should be mentioned that the size of the vineyards had varied considerably over the last 500 years. In 1530, the acreage planted with vines was about 1.4 hectares, and in 1623 it was already 5 hectares. By 1783, the area had more than doubled and had grown to well over 10 hectares, a very large area at that time.

The last innovations to the palace complex under the rule of the von Hutten family came in 1753 with the construction of the stone bridge over the moat and the subsequent construction of the Baroque Amtshaus (an administrative building), the construction of which Johann Phillip Friedrich von Hutten (1711 – 1783) had commissioned in 1759.

In their rule of more than 250-years over Frankenberg, the von Hutten family succeeded in forming a relatively closed and rounded knighthood in Franconia and securing their local supremacy and importance. Until 1783, the rulers of Frankenberg possessed high jurisdiction, as the well-preserved vaulted cellars with a cell tract, which most likely also had adjacent torture chambers, still bear witness today.

The high jurisdiction sometimes dealt with the “four high accusations”, i.e. murder, robbery, arson and rape. In addition to these capital crimes, the Zentgericht, a magisterial court, which consisted of lay judges under the chairmanship of a count as ruling civil servant, also dealt with serious thefts, brawls, poaching and, above all, the financially lucrative and frequent fornication offences.

The capital crimes judged at Frankenberg mostly ended in execution at the execution location in Ippesheim. These were large-scale, staged, public events which often attracted more than 6,000 spectators. For example, when a poisoner was executed in 1739, the roofs were covered to allow the onlookers a better view of the event. Between 1597 and 1752, seven executions for theft, murder, sodomy, stolen goods and poaching were recorded in the sparse sources of Frankenberg. The use of torture in the course of trials was also widespread up to the 18th century.

End of the 18th century till 2006: A gradual process of decay

In 1783 the rule of the von Hutten family, whose burial grounds are at the local church of Reusch to the south-west, came to an end. With the death of Johann Phillip Friedrich von Hutten, who had no descendants, the Frankenberg property passed into the possession of the von Poellnitz family after protracted inheritance disputes.

It can be assumed that this was a conspiracy which, from the outset, had excluded all the relatives and indirect descendants of Johann Phillip Friedrich, such as the daughters of his sister Elisabeth Juliana Martha. A document dated 25 December 1772 shows that Margrave Alexander von Brandenburg-Ansbach-Bayreuth (1736 – 1806) had already unofficially bestowed the Frankenberg fiefdom to his close confidant and , Ludwig Karl von Poellnitz (1758-1826), eleven years before the death of the lord of the palace at that time. It soon turned out, however, that owning the large palace complex was more of a burden than a gain for von Poellnitz. The buildings were in a ruinous state, the farm stripped of all real estate, and the vineyards dilapidated. This ultimately led to the von Poellnitz family having to file for bankruptcy in 1814.

The von Poellnitz family however remained in possession of Frankenberg until the extinction of its line with the death of Baroness Marimathilde von Poellnitzs (1898 – 1971). Thereafter the lords of Lerchenfeld, ancient Bavarian nobility, became the new owners of the castle.

Schloss Vorderfrankenberg

Breitenlohe is a part of the city Burghaslach, Bavaria, Germany. Breitenlohe has about 100 inhabitants and is part of the administrative district Landkreis Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim.
Well known is the castle from the 16th century. It was originally a moated castle, but the moat is dry. It has six towers, in two of them are staircases. Before the castle was built in 1569, there was already a kind of castle in the same place. The first castle was built in 1340 for Albrecht von Hohenlohe and later sold to the Family von Vestenberg, who renovated the castle and later rebuilt it. The castle is not open to the public.


Breitenlohe

Rammersdorf (umgangssprachlich: Raməschdorf) ist ein Gemeindeteil der Stadt Leutershausen im Landkreis Ansbach des Regierungsbezirks Mittelfranken.

Geschichte

Erstmals 1293 wird „Romungesdorf“ im Achtbuch der Reichsstadt Rothenburg erwähnt. 1336 erscheint „Romungestorf“ als Sitz des Ritters Fritz Vogel zu Dornberg. 1388 ist der Ritter Peter Vogel zu Vogelsburg (= Burg Rammerdorf) genannt, der Würzburger Lehnsmann war. Wenig später ging Rammersdorf an die Brüder Geißendorfer über. Diese mussten die Vogelsburg 1390 an den Würzburger Hofmeister Arnold Hiltmar abtreten. Von ihm erwarb Burkhart von Seckendorff-Jochsberg die Burg, der sie am 6. April 1390 als burggräfliches Lehen erhielt.  Im Jahre 1417 erschien Schloss Rammersdorf in einer Aufstellung der Schlösser des Landgerichts Graisbach.

Am 1. Januar 1571 erwarb der brandenburg-ansbachische Kammerrat Veit Asmus von Eyb zu Vestenberg, aus dem Adelsgeschlecht von Eyb stammend, das Rittergut Rammersdorf/Vogelsburg von Martin Wolf von Redwitz, der es kurz zuvor von seinem Schwager Hans Zobel von Giebelstadt gekauft hatte.  In dem 16-Punkte-Bericht brandenburg-ansbachischen Amtes Leutershausen von 1608 heißt es, dass außer einem Schafhof zu dem Schloss kein Hof oder Gut gehört. Der 16-Punkte-Bericht von 1681 erwähnt außer dem Schloss und dem Schafhof nunmehr ein zum Schloss gehörendes Bauernhaus. Das Schloss wurde unter Albrecht Ludwig von Eyb abgebrochen und nach Plänen des Ansbacher und späteren Eichstätter Hofbaumeisters Gabriel de Gabrieli von Schlossbaumeister Johann Georg Schmidt von 1713 bis 1715 neu erbaut. So spricht auch die Vettersche Oberamtsbeschreibung von 1732 von einem „adelich Eybisch neuerbauten Schlößlein“, zu dem ein Bauernhaus, eine Torwartswohnung und ein „außen auf der Höhe“ stehender Schafhof gehörte. Die Bewohner waren nach St. Peter in Leutershausen gepfarrt und vom Zehnt befreit. Die Vogtei inner Etters war eybsches Recht, außer Etters und die Fraisch standen dem brandenburg-ansbachischen Stadtvogteiamt Leutershausen zu. Daran änderte sich nichts mehr bis zum Ende des Alten Reiches. Das Rittergut Rammersdorf hatte zuletzt grundherrliche Ansprüche in Mittelbach (3 Anwesen), Mittelramstadt (12) und Winden (6). Von 1797 bis 1808 unterstand der Ort dem Justizamt Leutershausen und Kammeramt Colmberg.

Im Rahmen des Gemeindeedikts wurde Rammersdorf dem 1808 gebildeten Steuerdistrikt Leutershausen zugewiesen. Es gehörte der 1810 gegründeten Ruralgemeinde Mittelramstadt an. Ab 1820 bestand ein Patrimonialgericht I. Klasse derer von Eyb, dem in Rammersdorf fünf Grundholden unterstanden; 1838 erklärte die Familie von Eyb den Verzicht darauf, doch dauerte es noch bis 1842, bis König Ludwig I. die Abtretung des Patrimonialgerichtes genehmigte.  Am 1. Januar 1972 wurde Rammersdorf im Zuge der Gebietsreform in Bayern nach Leutershausen eingemeindet.

Heute ist der Forstbetrieb die wichtigste Einnahmequelle des von Eybschen Besitzes in Rammersdorf. Ein Eichenwald wird als „RuheForst Frankenhöhe – Leutershausen“ für Waldbestattungen genutzt.

Am 10. Juli 2015 ereignete sich in der Ortschaft ein Amoklauf, bei dem ein 72-jähriger Radfahrer in Rammersdorf und eine 82-jährige Frau im benachbarten Tiefenthal erschossen wurden.

Baudenkmal
Wasserschloss mit breitem, bruchsteingefasstem Graben und Mauer. Dreigeschossiger Schlossbau zu 7 × 5 Achsen mit Walmdach, Schleppgauben und Ladegaube im Osten sowie erneuertem Dachreiter mit welscher Haube. An der Fassadenseite dreiachsiger Mittelrisalit mit kolossaler ionischer Pilasterordnung in den beiden Obergeschossen; an den flankierenden Achsen Doppellisenengliederung (letztere auch an den Schmalseiten). Rundbogenportal mit Pilaster- und Konsolvorbau für einen ehemaligen Balkon des ersten Obergeschosses. Fenster des ersten Obergeschosses geohrt, das mittlere mit hochgezogener gerader Verdachung; darüber Sandsteinwappen der Freiherren von Eyb bezeichnet 1713. Im Inneren Treppenhaus aus der Erbauungszeit mit Brüstung aus schweren Holzbalustern und Resten von Rahmenstuck. Über dem Schlossgraben zweibogige Brücke aus Hausteinquadern; darüber Torpfeiler aus Sandstein, wohl gleichzeitig mit dem Schlossbau. Südlich des Schlosses von Bruchsteinmauern umgebene terrassenförmig gestufte Parkanlage von 1715.

2018 wurden die Besitzer des Schlosses für eine umfassende Schlossinstandsetzung mit der Denkmalschutzmedaille ausgezeichnet.
