he originally Gothic Stronghold of Roštejn was rebuilt in the 16th century and turned into a Renaissance hunting estate. After being struck by lightning in 1915, the castle suffered a major fire and it was not until the 1960 s that the property began to be slowly restored. It was finally opened to the public in 1969. The castle is currently home to a museum. Its exhibits include collections of porcelain, pottery, pewter and period furniture. There is also an exhibit of weapons used in hunting, an exhibit of stone cutting, as practiced in the Vysočina Region, and an exhibit on the natural treasures of the surrounding Jihlava Hills. The dominant feature of the castle is its 45-meter high heptagonal tower that can be climbed as part of the tour of the castle so that visitors can enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside. The castle s historic halls are used as a venue for wedding ceremonies and other social gatherings. In June, during the annual historical banquet, the castle s courtyard is transformed into a medieval marketplace; and, in August, it becomes the location of traditional jazz performances. Summer weekends, the castle is open to visitors for night tours with an accompanying program.

Rokštejn The most common destination for walks around Brtnice are the romantic ruins in the valley of the river between the villages of Panská Lhota and Přímělkov (8 km from Brtnice). The castle dates from the second half of the 13th century. Its complex building development ranks it among important medieval architectural relics from the 13th to 15th centuries. In the second half of the 14th century it was the centre of the marquisate and the administration for the region. It was burnt and demolished during the Hussite wars as a supporting base of Hussite nobility in South Moravia. Only a four-sided tower, remainders of the walls of residential buildings and the wall gallery are preserved from the castle.

Rokštejn Castle

The chateau's basic sightseeing tour introduces visitors to the original Gothic section of the chateau and its grandiose halls—the Modrý (Blue), Zlatý (Gold), Rytířský (Knight's), Divadelní (Theatre), and Císařský (Imperial) Halls—with their well-preserved wooden coffered ceilings, priceless furnishings, and a rich collection of weapons and paintings. The second route tours the residential rooms that served the previous chateau owners, the Podstatsky-Lichtenstein family, until 1945. Their furnishings are significant testimony to the interior decor of the nobility of the period. The chateau is surrounded by a natural park that houses a Classicist conservatory.

Telč Chateau

Originally a fortress, rebuilt into a three-winged, two-stoery Baroque chateau in 1734. The courtyard is completed by a Baroque arcade, today the majority of it is walled-in.

Horní Cerekev Chateau

An early Gothic castle, expanded in the late Gothic era and rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau, with subsequent Baroque adaptations. Its interiors and former chapel boast a set of late-Gothic frescoes. The chateau houses the collections of the municipal museum and gallery. Newly accessible is also the chateau tower, offering a view of the town and its surroundings. 
Permanent exhibition: button-making and use of mother-ofpearl, historical sewing machines, the Jan Havlík Gallery. 
Exhibition of Rural Traditions and Crafts The chateau grange – a silo – was built in the early 18th century. It has undergone a number of building adaptations, but its purpose did not change for a great, long time, although the storage of grain was replaced by the storage of various unneeded items until its 2007 renovation. The original Baroque have today house an exhibition of rural traditions and crafts. 
One wing of the chateau is devoted to contemporary modern art. Four halls house an exhibition of fi ne art: oils by the academic painter Jan Havlík; objects made of soft linden tree wood, by the academic sculptor Karel Hlava; prints and paintings by Pavel Roučka; and book illustrations by the academic painter František Severa.

Žirovnice Chateau

Originally a Late Gothic castle of the Waldstein's built in the 15th century. During the time of Hynek Brtnicky of Waldstein it was reconstructed into a Renaissance chateau (in the 1580s). After the White Mountain battle it belonged to the Collalts, who collected an extensive family painting gallery here (to 1945). Baroque renovation took place in the 17th century. The entry tower was rebuilt in pseudo-Gothic style in the 19th century.

Brtnice Chateau

The town received a new dominat structure formed by the Renaissance tower of the St. Lawrence church built by Francesco Garof de Bissone from Italy. The same architect was engaged by Oldřich Krajíř of Krajek to build a new chateau mentioned in Dačice records for the first time in 1591. The architecture of the chateau is inspired by north Italian town palaces with four wings enclosing a square courtyard. Its Renaissance origin is recalled by two storeys of arcade-loggias in the main northern wing.
After the family of Krajíř of Krajek died out, the chateau owners changed in short intervals and protracted property lawsuits prevented repairs which had become necessary after two fires in the 17th century. When Heinrich of Ostein purchased the estate in 1728 it finally was possible to start a fundamental reconstruction of the chateau supervised by Francesco Camelli. The chateau tower above the southern wing owes it character to these alterations.
The last reconstruction which gave the Dačice Chateau its present appearance is connected with the names of subsequent owners - the Dalbergs who came to Dačice at the beginning of the 19th century. Architect Riedl from Vienna altered the chateau's exterior in Empire style in 1816 and fifteen years later Schleps, another Viennese architect, brought the chateau's interiors into harmony with its Empire frontage.
Unfortunately the Barons of Dalbergs died out in 1940. The chateau was inherited by closest relatives of Dalberg family, the Princes of Salm-Salm. Sadly they owned the chateau only five years. In 1945 the chateau was confiscated by Czechoslovak state. In 1949 chateau was open to public and its interiors presented as a museum of the Empire style. During the reconstruction of interiors in 2010-12 the rooms gained back the authentic appereance from the 19th and the 20th century. Guided tour includes representative rooms and also Dalberg‘s private rooms.

Dačice Chateau

Cesky Rudolec chateau is called Mala Hluboka. It is situated by the road No. 409 in the southeastern corner of Cesky Rudolec village near Dacice in Ceska Kanada nature park. This area was settled for the purposes of iron, silver, and precious metal mining. This perhaps explains the name of the village – Rudolec.
The first written evidence on the existence of the chateau originates in 1351. The chateau was a stronghold. Its one side borders with water, the other side was defended by a water moat. The Vladykove of Rudolce were the first known owners of the stronghold. The owners would change frequently in the following centuries.
A draft available at the Nürnberg archive shows a Renaissance renovation (without exact dates). A research done before the reconstruction and many archeological findings brought proof to the thesis that the current structure was only the core of the original stronghold. The space between the chateau and the place where now stand the inn, and visitors' center was a water moat before. The area of today's visitors' center, the inn, and homestead buildings used to be covered by fortification walls and the outer bailey - "outer ward".
The residence had been abandoning its defense capabilities during the Renaissance era. The moat was filled with dirt. The stronghold transformed to a chateau. The latter saw the addition of arcades. The courtyard had been gradually enclosed. The fortification walls were demolished. Surrounding buildings seem as if they were separated from the original (almost united) compound of the original stronghold. The homestead expanded. A distillery was set up. A brewery was established in 1539.

Český Rudolec Chateau

The chateau was built in the middle of the 16th century on the location of an old Gothic structure. The remains of the original structure are still evident in the cross vaults located on the ground level of the chateau. After a major fire in 1682, the chateau was rebuilt in a Baroque style. Its current design as a double-wing structure with a French mansard roof and a square clock tower dates back to 1767 when the property underwent a major reconstruction. Located on the first floor of the chateau is the original Renaissance banquet hall with its decoratively painted ceiling. The chateau was used as the town hall until 1849 and it later served as the seat of the local court. The first museum exhibits were installed in the chateau in 1908. The collections include paintings, folk art, porcelain, glass, furniture and clocks.
