Empire-style hunting lodge "Pohansko" near Breclav, built in 1811–1812, is one of countless architectural monuments of the UNECSO World heritage site "Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape" in South Moravia region of the Czech Republic.

Empire chateau is a symmetrical building with ground floor, arcaded wings. A buttress is found in the central part with a one-storey extension, which is dominated by long loges with a full parapet enclosed by 12 Ionic columns. Under the cornice of the ground floor are round medallions with stucco depicting ancient hunting scenes. Following the Second World War, the chateau became property of the state.

In the 11th century a border castle was established by Duke Bretislaus I which took his name (in Czech Břetislav → Břeclav). The castle served as one of the ducal administrative centres in medieval Moravia, later becoming a manor house. The Zierotins rebuilt it in Renaissance style. In 1638 the House of Liechtenstein gained it, but the family did not reside there and in the early 19th century they rebuilt it to artificial ruins as a part of the Lednice-Valtice cultural-natural complex.

Břeclav Castle

Pond mansion from 1816 is an elegant single story building with a balustrade and conical buttresses the tympanum. Richer facade has three French windows with a balcony facing the lake. At present, ZF MZLU Brno, Lednice and there is a possible romantic accommodation in an unusual environment.

Rybniční zámeček Chateau

John's Castle is situated about 4 km east of Lednice, on the banks of the river Old Thaya. You can get here by a local shipping company from the castle waterworks, or you can come by walking. You can also use the carriages, that ride all around the chateau grounds.
Jonh's Castle is an imitation of a ruin, which was built to serve as a hunting castle. The building was designed by Joseph Hartmuth. Alois Joseph I. Prince of Liechtenstein began building in 1801. Unfortunately, he died in 1805 and the building was completed by  his younger brother - John Joseph I. Prince of Liechtenstein in 1808.

Janův Hrad Castle

The Chateau Valtice belonged to Liechtenstein family from 1387 until 1945. There is one hundred impressive rooms in the four-wing building of the Chateau Valtice. The tour of the Baroque residence, surrounding park and a wine bar in the neighborhood takes at least half a day, and it is accessible only seventeen rooms! The furniture is in the Baroque and Rococo style and it creates a perfect imagine of a life of the rich noblemen in the 17th and 18th century.
In Valtice, there was originally a castle. Its owners was often changed, e.g. it was the legacy of six daughters of a nobleman, or other times it was divided among the three families. The third wife of John I. of Liechtenstein, Elizabeth, gained an one-sixth of the inheritance of the Chateau Valtice in the second half of the 14th century. Elizabeth bequeathed her share to her husband and so the Liechtenstein family acquired the chateau, which became a basis of a huge estate (30,000 ha), that the Liechtenstein family built and managed until the end of the Second World War.

Valtice Chateau

The first historical record of this locality dates from 1222. At that time there stood a Gothic fort with courtyard, which was lent by Czech King Václav I to Austrian nobleman Sigfried Sirotek in 1249. 
At the end of the 13th century the Liechtensteins, originally from Styria, became holders of all of Lednice and of nearby Mikulov. They gradually acquired land on both sides of the Moravian-Austrian border. Members of the family most often found fame in military service, during the Renaissance they expanded their estates through economic activity. From the middle of the 15th century members of the family occupied the highest offices in the land. However, the family’s position in Moravia really changed under the brothers Karel, Maximilian, and Gundakar of Liechtenstein. Through marriage Karel and Maximilian acquired the great wealth of the old Moravian dynasty of the Černohorskýs of Boskovice. At that time the brothers, like their father and grandfather, were Lutheran, but they soon converted to Catholicism, thus preparing the ground for their rise in politics. Particularly Karel, who served at the court of Emperor Rudolf II, became hetman of Moravia in 1608, and was later raised to princely status by King Matyas II and awarded the Duchy of Opava.
During the revolt of the Czech nobility he stood on the side of the Habsburgs, and took part in the Battle of White Mountain. After the uprising was defeated in 1620 he systematically acquired property confiscated from some of the rebels, and the Liechtensteins became the wealthiest family in Moravia, rising in status above the Žerotíns. Their enormous land holdings brought them great profits, and eventually allowed them to carry out their grandious building projects here in Lednice.
In the 16th century it was probably Hartmann II of Liechtenstein who had the old medieval water castle torn down and replaced with a Renaissance chateau. At the end of the 17th century the chateau was torn down and a Baroque palace was built, with an extensive formal garden, and a massive riding hall designed by Johann Bernard Fischer von Erlach that still stands in almost unaltered form.
In the mid-18th century the chateau was again renovated, and in 1815 its front tracts that had been part of the Baroque chateau were removed.
The chateau as it looks today dates from 1846-1858, when Prince Alois II decided that Vienna was not suitable for entertaining in the summer, and had Lednice rebuilt into a summer palace in the spirit of English Gothic. The hall on the ground floor would serve to entertain the European aristocracy at sumptuous banquets, and was furnished with carved wood ceilings, wooden panelling, and select furniture, surpassing anything of its kind in Europe.

Lednice Castle

Mikulov Castle is in the town of Mikulov in South Moravia, Czech Republic. The castle stands on a place of historic Slavonic settlement, where since the end of the 13th century the original stone castle was erected. The present castle is the result of a reconstruction in 1719–1730 under the princes of Dietrichstein. The end of World War II meant a complete disaster for the castle, as German troops withdrawing from the town set fire to it.
During the war, the anthropological collection from the Moravské zemské muzeum had been moved to Mikulov Castle for safekeeping purposes. Many of the most important discoveries from Předmostí u Přerova, Dolní Věstonice and the Mladeč caves were destroyed by the fire.
After an extensive reconstruction in the 1950s, the castle became the seat of the Regional Museum in Mikulov, housing art and historical collections, including artifacts relating to the history of local wine production. The Renaissance wine barrel, dating from 1643 and one of the largest, 1,014 hectolitres, wine barrels in Central Europe, is on display.
