The Benešov Chateau complex rightly ranks among the most remarkable monuments of Saxon Renaissance architecture in the Czech Republic. It consists of six structures, including the parish Church of the Virgin´s Nativity.

The castle built in the 16th century is a result of multiple reconstructions of a previous fortified castle. In 1628 the Thuns gained control over Děčín, and during their reign, the castle was occupied by Saxons and Swedes. The Baroque conversion of the building started in 1668 and also involved landscaping, park establishment and integration of two previously separate buildings into one. At the end of the 18th century the castle was rebuilt in the Early Classicistic style. Access to the castle is via the so-called “Long Ride" - a steep, 299 metres long street from the town centre. The street is lined with blind arcades on both sides (atypical for Baroque architecture). After 1968, the castle was used by the Soviet Army. Over 20 years of its presence caused substantial damage to the castle.

Děčín Chateau

The Renaissance chateau was built after 1574 by Henry of Vartemberk. Later modifications were not of a significant nature. The chateau served as a residence of the Grand Priories of the Order of Malta. It was adapted in 1930-31 for the owner, Josef Vraný, which unfortunately was not done in a very sensitive way.
In 2010 the chateau was bought by the current owner, Mr. Ondřej Kilián, who made it accessible to the public. Tours of the chateau are given as part of the few cultural events that take place here during the year.

Horní Libchava Chateau

Šaunštejn Castle (German: Schauenstein, also Hohenleipaer Raubschloss) is a rock castle near Vysoká Lípa (Hohenleipa) in the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic. Today only a few ruins remain of the original castle. Preserved are the foundations of the wooden superstructure, several rooms that were chiselled-out of the rock and the cistern.
The castle was built by the Berka z Dubé family from Lípa in the 14th century to protect the Old Bohemian Road (Alte Böhmerstraße), the trade route from Bohemia to Lusatia. From 1435 it belonged to the Wartenbergs who used it as a base for raids. In the 15th century it was besieged several times by the Wettins und the Lusatian League and finally destroyed.

Šaunštejn Castle

The original water fortress from the 14th century was rebuilt by the Lords of Bünau in the Saxon Renaissance style in the second half of the 16th century and then converted into a palace in the late 17th century. Around 1800 a romantic park with a Classicist pavilion was established next to the palace. In the 1930s the palace was reconstructed by the Thun family in the New-Renaissance style. After WWII the palace was confiscated and used as a school. After the recent reconstruction, it is now open for the public.

Jílové Chateau

The chateau of Velke Brezno was built in the late Empire style by Count Karel Chotek in 1842-1845. Count Chotek, the supreme burgrave of the Czech Kingdom, contributed to the development of Bohemia. Around 1900, the chateau was reconstructed in Neo-Renaissance style. The chateau is surrounded by a landscape park with 130 species of precious trees and bushes. The current installation of the chateau’s interior is original and illustrates the activities of the Choteks. Sophia Chotek, the wife of Franz Ferdinand d’Este, the successor of the Austrian throne, with whom she was assassinated in Sarajevo in 1914, came from this family. There are concerts, seasonal exhibitions and also wedding ceremonials arranged in the chateau on a regular basis.

Velké Březno Chateau

The ruins of Blansko castle are situated on a woody basalt hill around 6 kilometers away from Usti nad Labem. The castle was first mentioned in the year 1401 under the name of Blankenstein. Since the beginning of the 15th century it was a po-ssession of the Vartenberks. At the end of the 16th century the administrative seat was transferred from Blansko to the Krasne Brezno chateau. The castle was then used as a prison and since the Thirty Year War it was dilapidating. Today, the place is but remains of the castle palace, bastions and tower. 
The castle platform offers a perfect circular view of the Czech Highland, Lusatian Mountains and Tiské Stěny (Tisá Rock Walls).

Blansko Castle

It's difficult to imagine Pravčicka gate without the Mountain chateau, Sokolí hnizdo. At the start of tourism in the Pravčická area there was a house, covered in rind, which served as a bar. Then, in 1818, Prince Edmund Clary-Aldringen, the owner of the manor, commissioned the chateau Sokoli Hinizdo to be built. He invited workers from Italy to do the construction simply because they were the cheapest he could find. The whole castle was built in less than a year which at that time was a record-breaking achievement. A few years later trails and railings were constructed to near-by rocky viewpoints. Soon a restaurant was built and entrance fees collected. The road from Hřensko, "the Pelagiasteig", was paved in the 1970's and the trail to Mezni Louka was constructed. The first tourists to the area came from the upper and aristocratic classes. And although the trail from Hřensko to Pravčicka gate is only a few kilometers long, it was common to hire mules and or porters for the journey.

Sokolí hnízdo Chateau

The original water castle named Lipý comes from the 13th century.
The best-known owner of the castle was Jindřich of Lipá. Until the mid 17th century, the castle was the residence of the Berka family of Dubá, who had it rebuilt in the 17th century into a Renaissance chateau with a two-storey palace. In the course of time, the chateau was abandoned and it was pulled down in 1957. The relics of the original structures comprise a ruin with preserved cellars, parts of the bullwark, and a fragment of the second gate.

Lipý Castle

The castle probably built Berka of Dubé, from Ronovci after 1350. In 1375 it was bought by Prague Archbishop Jan Ocko of Vlasim from Hanus of Helfenbeku, probably one of the descendants of the family Klinštejnů. Archbishop so created rural hinterland in the woods nearby to stay outside the WAC, which performed in his office. He stayed there briefly and its successor, the third Prague archbishop Jan of Jenštejna. At the time of their stay was a tiny castle substantially modified. The original wooden building a radically changed, especially increased stone reconstructions. The settlement around the castle originated from several buildings, the castle was built chapel, built 63 meters deep well and a new castle was surrounded by moats and walls and have been here for some time brought from Prague St. Vitus jewelry, relics and books. The record came in 1395 Roudnice Prior Petra clarifier, personal chronicler John of arcibiskupina Jenštejna of John's accident on the bridge leading from the new tower, where he nearly collapsed. Jan lived here until about 1400, ie at a time when he was deprived of his office. In 1422 it acquired burgrave Ales of Malíkovice, then spent years hiding from bad king bishop Konrad of Vechta (where he died in 1431), and even then, the owners of the castle changed frequently. Finally, it is placed on the Castle Wilhelm von Illburka, which at that time belonged to the nearby Ronov. The Helfenburk newly outfitted and then place a landlocked Ron enjoyed. After the extinction of the family in 1538 the castle gradually abandoned. In 1622, then burned down due to the imperial army marshal Buquoy. It was a period pillaging passing armies in the Thirty Years' War. After the Battle of White Mountain, the Jesuits gained from Liběšice and attached to the Usti estate.
When in 1887 the ruins of the castle was bought and modified industrialist, Count Joseph von Schroll and began to be attractive to tourists. He's here in 1887-1890 built a romantic three-story tower of 30 meters, where it leads 143 steps.

Úštěk Castle

On the site of the present chateau there used to stand a farmhouse with a fort. Until 1867, the name of the village was Březnice, before, it was called Březník. The first written mention of it is in the deed of Prince Spytihněv II dated 1057. Before 1600, he had a Renaissance chateau built  instead of the original fort of Rudolf of Býnov. The builder was Hans Bog of Pirna. On the old wing’s facade, connected to the chateau church of St. Florian by a corridor, there is a sun dial showing the date 1603  and the Latin inscription „Soli deo Gloria“. In 1730, the chateau was rebuilt in the Baroque style by Ludvík Richard Cavriani. In the 19th C., the building was extended with a new wing with a balcony. At the moment, the chateau is owned by the National Heritage Authority in Ústí nad Labem, which is preparing an extensive reconstruction project of the chateau. It is to seat the heritage authority, however, it shall also boast representative rooms that shall be available to the public.
