Original Renaissance chateau from the second half of the 16th century converted and expanded in 1886-1887 in the pseudo-Renaissance spirit. The designer of the chateau’s new style was its then-owner – the renowned architect Josef Hlávka, a native of nearby Příchovice. He was also the father of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts, the seat of which was right in Lužany. Several personalities of great renown in the fields of science and culture have passed through the chateau’s doors since that period.

The ruins of the castle Roupov are distinctive thanks to the monumental octagonal chimney, which belonged to the large Gothic kitchen. The kitchen is preserved today, as are some other parts of the palaces. The castle was founded in the 13th century and later was rebuilt and enlarged several times. It was demolished during the Thirty Years War but definitely abandoned probably in the 18th century.

Roupov Castle

Červené Poříčí Château is a unique monument of the Saxon Renaissance in the Pilsen Region. It was built in 1611 by Mikuláš Šic of Drahenice on the site of an older fortress. Due to his participation in the uprising of the Bohemian estates, the château was confiscated from Šic in 1623 and was subsequently owned by various Bavarian noble families. The Hauben family, the relatives Törrings of Jettenbach and Klement Franz I, Duke of Bavaria, were responsible for the Renaissance reconstruction of the château.
In the nineteenth century, the château was owned by the Habsburg imperial family, specifically the dukes of Tuscany.
The château became a state property with the founding of Czechoslovakia. After the Second World War it became the headquarters of a forestry company. It was used as a residential facility for employees starting in the 1960s. The National Heritage Institute took over administration of the château in 1997. Since 2010 it has been a national cultural monument.

Červené Poříčí Chateau

In the place of a Gothic fortress a three-wing Baroque chateau was built at the behest of the Morzin clan in 1708. In 1759 Count Morzin invited Josef Haydn to Lukavice and put him in charge of the chateau’s music (but only for a short while, until 1760). The chateau has an English park with a fountain and several great and ancient trees (rare cypress, Weymouth pine, marsh oak, broadleaved linden).

Dolní Lukavice Chateau

The Chotěšovský monastery had it built in Baroque style in the 17th century. The storeyed building has a seven-sided frontispiece and a mansard roof. While it was in the ownership of the JZD, it began to deteriorate.

The Švihov Castle is a late medieval castle located in western Bohemia, Czech Republic. It was the seat of the lords of Rýžemberk and it was built between 1480–1510.

Merklín Chateau

Originally a Gothic fortress, rebuilt in the 16th century in the Renaissance style. In 1728 its new owner, Count Morzin, had it remade into a Baroque chateau. The northern section of the structure has retained its Renaissance character.

Ptenín Chateau

Nebílovy Chateau is situated about 16 km south of Plzeň, in west Bohemia, Czech Republic. Older renaissance manor was rebuilt into a baroque by architect and builder Jakub Auguston, probably according to the project of imperial architect J. L. Hildebrandt. Nebílovy Chateau consists of two buildings facing each other which used to be connected by arcade corridors and terraces along their sides. The chateau was repaired by V. Haberditz and J. L. Palliardi in the 18th century.

The chateau, founded by Černíny from Chudenice, was originally built as a spa. However, in time it became an Imperial chateau. It is enclosed by a vast English park, in which an arboretum known as “The American Garden,” with superb specimens of North American evergreens, was built in 1841.

Lázeň Chateau

The romantic castle lies above the lake and was used as a sanatorium. The original water stronghold was in the 17th century rebuilt into a castle and in the 19th century was adapted again with Italian Renaissance and German medieval architectonic features.
