This was originally a Gothic stronghold that acquired its Renaissance appearance after alterations in the late 16th century. In the early 18th century, it was converted into a Baroque chateau.
František Maxmilián Kaňka created the project for Jan Jáchym Pachta of Rájov, the Bohemian nobleman and owner of the premises. Sculptor Matyáš Bernard Braun and painter Václav Vavřinec Reiner contributed to the decoration. Braun´s impressive sculptures also enriched the large English park. In the early 19th century the residency was changed again in Classical style and rooms were decorated by Josef Navrátil in the spirit of the National Revival. Precious sculptures by Václav Levý, a Czech sculptor, were installed in the park soon afterwards. Nowadays, Náprstek Museum´s exhibition of Asian cultures is situated in the chateau.

Melnik Chateau is described in Czech legends. It is said that Princess Ludmila often resided there and even raised her grandson Wenceslas in Melnik. Wenceslas would later become the duke of Bohemia and then the patron saint of the Czech state. The chateau was originally a wooden castle that was rebuilt with stone in the late 10th century. During the 13th century it got a Gothic makeover. Wives of Bohemian princes owned the town, and later Bohemian Queens resided there. It was Queen Elizabeth, King Charles IV’s fourth and last wife, who had the chapel built in the 14th century.
When Marie Ludmila Countess Czernin married August Anton Eusebius Lobkowicz in 1753, the Lobkowicz era of the chateau’s history had begun. During World War II the Nazis took control of the chateau. Then, in 1948, it was nationalized, and the family was forced to leave the country. The chateau was given back to the clan in 1992.

Mělník Chateau

A hunting lodge built in 1696 by James Herman Cernín of Chudenice was in the years 1713 to 1720 according to project FM Kanka converted to Baroque residence and later further modified by architects John and Christian Spannbruckerem Anselmo Lurago.
Horín Chateau is a very valuable object represents a single architectural work of art, even though today is in poor condition and not accessible to the public. The original equipment of chateau, unfortunately, not preserved. Free access is the only park where grow many valuable trees.

Hořín Chateau

The exact date of the Chateau construction is uncertain, but we have some dates on the Chateau' buildings (1696 and 1635). The second one is connected with change of the Vidim demesne owner, when it was given into hands of General Johann Böck, betrayer of Albrecht of Wallenstein... But nowadays we skeptically assume, that the pictoresque Baroque complex was built in the first half of the 18th century together with adjoining English park. The demesne changed owners several times and finally it was in a possesion of German-Bohemian textile enterpreneur Theodor Grahmann. He extended the Chateau (western wing) in neo-Baroque style in 1898 and also erected in the Chateau' grounds vast homestead with sawmill. He also reconstructed Chateau' park and completed it by distinctive Gloriet, many bridges and cast statues of Classical heroes and gods. Later, after WWII, it was nationalized and nowadays, after partial reconstruction, it serves as retirement home (Domov senioru Vidim).
From Chateau' original Baroque exterior is the southern facade, opened into the garden, the best preserved. Facade has protruded avant-corps (risalite), balcony in the second storey and it is finished in the centre by volute gable decorated by putti and vase.

Vidim Chateau

The castle is located on about a 30-metre-high sandstone cliff above the pond, near the village named Harasov. In 1321 it was probably founded by Pešek Hrzán from Újezd. In 1420 it was in the possession of Dobeš from Harasov. Probably at the beginning of the 17th century the castle completely deteriorated. At that time the locality was a part of the Byšice estate. At present, there are well-preserved (well-situated) rock cellars carved in the rock wall above the pond. However, it is difficult to find them as their rock windows and the entrance are occupied with a wooden construction.
The castle used to rise on the rock above the cellars and you can recognise the ditches and smallish relics of the walls, obviously the palace. In the sandstone near the dyke of the pond you can come across a relief depicting Jesus on the cross. The locality is sometimes mentioned as Krvomlýn (i.e. Blood Mill). The name is connected with several romantic legends, for example, about the owner of the castle who declared that the mill-wheel that he ordered to be installed under the castle should be started up by the blood of the murderers who had raped and killed his beautiful daughter - and that they should be executed by his own hands.

Harasov Castle

Kokořín Castle (Czech: Hrad Kokořín) is a castle located some 10 km (6 mi) northeast of Mělník, Czech Republic. It was built in the first half of the 14th century by order of Hynek Berka z Dubé. It was heavily damaged during the Hussite Wars and stood in ruins until the reconstruction campaign of 1911–1918. It was nationalized in 1948 and has been designated a national cultural landmark since 2001. The nature preserve of Kokořínsko takes its name from this castle.

Kokořín Castle

Zakšín castle, sometimes called “Pustý zámek” is one of the most remarkable examples of fortified settlements situated on sandstone.
The castle was built on the site of an old fort in 1400 during the rule of Václav Berka. Around 1450 it had already been abandoned. It used to stand on 3 sandstone blocks, the gaps between them serving as moats. The most interesting is the second one, carved sideways, with a protrusion allowing one to go up to the drawbridge. Some rooms are carved into the rock.

Zakšín Castle

Roudnice Castle was built in the 12th century by Bishop Jindřich Břetislav, the nephew of the Czech king Vladislav I, to protected an important trade route from Prague to Upper Lusatia along the Elbe. The castle complex included several farm buildings, protected by a fortified wall; the castle itself had walls that were two meters thick, and watch towers in each corner. In the mid-14th century, it was rebuilt in a Gothic style and became a favorite summer residence for Prague bishops. It is said that Jan Hus was ordained as a priest there.
In 1421, the Catholic Church sold the castle to Jan Smiřický, who renovated it once again. George of Poděbrady, king of Bohemia (1420-1477), captured Roudnice from Smiřický in 1467. It passed into the ownership of William Rožumberk (1535-1592), the Supreme Burgrave and one of the wealthiest men in Bohemia. After Rožumberk’s death, his widow Polyxena Pernštejn (1566-1642) married Zdenek Vojtěch of Lobkowicz, Chancellor of the Czech Kingdom and later 1st Prince Lobkowicz, bringing Roudnice into the Lobkowicz family’s possessions. In 1652 their son Václav Eusebius, 2nd Prince Lobkowicz (1609-1677), embarked upon an ambitious project to transform the castle into an early baroque palace. From 1657 until the Second World War the Lobkowicz Collection's library was stored in Roudnice Castle, leading to the library being named the Roudnice Lobkowicz Library.

Roudnice nad Labem Chateau

When Ernest Josef Pachta of Rájov, the owner of Liblice estate, decided to build his new manor (1699 - 1706), he chose Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, native from North Laine, who worked in Prague that days. Alliprandi was trained in a craft of Francesco Martinelli in Vienna . He is famous in the Czech Republic, in addition to the construction of Chateau Liblice, for a number of important buildings to noble families Černínů, Přehorovských or Špork.

Liblice Chateau

Houska Castle is an early Gothic castle, 47 kilometres (29 mi) north of Prague, in the Czech Republic. It is one of the best preserved castles of the period. Notable features include a predominantly gothic chapel, green chamber with late-gothic paintings, and knight's drawing room.
It was built in the first half of the 13th century probably on the orders of Bohemian ruler Ottokar II of Bohemia during his reign (1253–78) to serve as an administration center from which the extensive royal estates could be managed. Later it passed to the hands of the aristocracy, frequently passing from the ownership of one to another. In 1584–90 it underwent Renaissance-style modifications, losing none of its fortress features as it looks down from a steep rocky cliff. In the 18th century it ceased to serve as a noble residence and fell into a state of disrepair before being renovated in 1823. In 1897 it was purchased by Princess Hohenlohe and in 1924, the times of the First Republic, bought by the President of Škoda, Josef Šimonek. During World War II, the Germans used the castle to perform inhumane experiments on local people or prisoners of war.

Houska Castle

Veltrusy Mansion is a baroque château in Veltrusy, Bohemia, located in the Mělník District of the Czech Republic. The mansion is situated near the banks of the Vltava River, about 25 km north of Prague. The mansion is open to the public for visits.
The mansion was initially built in 1716 by architect František Maxmilián Kaňka for Count Václav Antonín Chotek of Chotkov and Vojnín. The original mansion was extended in 1764 by architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi on the orders of Count Rudolf Chotek of Chotkov and Vojnín, who also commissioned the interior decoration. Further extensions and the annexes of the mansion were constructed in 1804.
