Kost Castle lies in Northern Bohemia, specifically the region Bohemian Paradise (Český Ráj) and is privately owned by Kinský dal Borgo noble family It was first proposed by Beneš von Wartenberg in 1349 as a possible construction site and was completed by his son Peter von Wartenberg. It retains most of the original features and is overall very well preserved and maintained.
The castle is known for its so-called "White tower" (Bílá Věž). In about 1414 the family of Zajíc von Hasenburg moved there; later the family of Schellenberg (1497–1524), Lobkowicz (till 1576) and others; in this time some more buildings were built near the castle and joined to it.
Unlike most other castles in Bohemia, it does not lie on a hill, but on a spit between two brooks. Another peculiarity is the tower, which has a trapezoid-like ground-plan. The trapezoidal tower has the corners facing the areas of most likely catapult attacks. This is to make the missiles glance off the tower walls instead of hitting it headon thereby minimizing the damage.

The Humprecht Chateau was built in the 1666-68 period to an order by Jan Humprecht Černín of Chudenice; the design comes from a famous architect named Carlo Lugaro.
The building used to be a hunting lodge. The chateau burnt out soon after it had been completed and was deserted for many years. The exterior is an interesting dominant feature of the region. At present, the interiors of the Humprecht Chateau are used for occasional exhibitions and concerts. In the middle of the building there is a 16 m high lounge. It is decorated with wall paintings inspired by the history of the Černín noble family.
The dining hall of the Humprecht Chateau is known for its special acoustic parameters: singing in this room echoes for 6-8 seconds.
The chateau is truly unique in terms of the architectonic construction. From the tower, accessible through the Mouse passage, there is a fabulous view of the region.

Humprecht Chateau

Chateau Mladejov came into existence through the expansion of the original fortress on the northern, most elevated part of the town. The first sovereigns date back to the years1358-1444.
Before the year 1533, Mladejov was under the rule of the lordship Velish-Trcek. In 1603 the stately home was acquired by Hynek Kozlovský from Kozlov.
In 1611 a wooden fortress was put into record. In 1623 the fortress was sold to Albrecht von Valdštejn. After the fall of Valdštejn - a change of ownership took place.
1738 Madame Anna Terezie Unwert reconstructed the local manor. The medieval domicile has been retained in the north-western part of the present day's chateau. The medieval presence can be found in the arched cellar and in a part of the brickwork on the ground floor.
In the year 1778 Austrian Emperor Josef II chose chateau Mladejov as his residence during the campaign against Prussia. It remained for 18 days the Austrian headquarters. 
In the year 1792 Mladejov was acquired by the family Pabstmann; in the following period the chateau was often visited by František Josef Gerstner, the first director of the polytechnic institute in Prague. F. J. Gerstner died there in 1832; he is buried in Mladejov's cemetery.
At the beginning of the 20th Century, Chateau Mladejov was acquired by Madame Anna Bláhová, born Haklová. It was rebuilt in 1913 by developer N. Novák. In the beginning of 1949 the entire estate was confiscated by the Czechoslovak state. In the following years, up to communist breakdown in 1989, the chateau was used as an agricultural school and later as a residential school. After the restitution law the chateau was given back, in 1992, to Madame Gabriela Hamacher, the granddaughter of the original owner A. Blahova. 
On January 3rd, 2002, the chateau burned down to the outer walls. The cause was never clarified, but it is certain, that the fire would not have been so devastating if a snow storm would not have struck that night, preventing the elimination of the fire. Thereafter, Madame Gabriela Hamacher with family decided to rebuild the chateau.
In December 2005 the reconstruction was successfully finished.

Mladějov Chateau

The castle was established by Čeněk of Vartenberk in the second half of the 14th century. Two towers were constructed, one on top of each rock, and various residential buildings and outhouses erected between them. Three rings of fortified walls protected the complex. After Čeněk's death the castle came into the possession of King Wenceslas IV, from whom it was acquired by Ota of Bergov, of the Bergov dynasty. Though Ota the Younger of Trosk was a zealous Catholic, it did not stop him raiding the monastery in Opatovice and stealing its famous treasure, which he is said to have hidden in Trosky Castle, supposedly in an underground cellar blocked by a huge boulder. No one could move the boulder, which was eventually covered by scree, permanently cutting off the way to the precious objects.
During the Hussite wars Trosky was a center of the pro-Catholic sides. It is therefore not surprising that in all probability the castle was never completely conquered by the Hussites or any other enemies. As late as 1428, shortly after the castle burned down, it was under siege by Jan Kralovec, captain of the Táborite Army. From 1438 onwards the robber knight Kryštov Šov of Helfenburg and his companion Švejkar settled in it to tyrannize the villagers in the surrounding countryside, before the people of Zhořelec and Žitavy (English Görlitz and Zittau, members of the Lusatian League) banded together to capture them. Margareth of Bergov, the widow of the original owner Ota of Bergov, made Trosky into her residence by 1444. In 1468 the castle was property of William of Hasenburg who kept it until 1497. After that several noble families owned the castle, although its significance declined. In 1648, during the Thirty Years' War, it was burned down completely by the Imperial Army and left in ruins. In 1681 the enlightened Jesuit Bohuslav Balbín visited it; possibly the first documented example of a trip, the sole purpose of which was to research a historical sight or area.
In the 19th century a greater degree of interest was shown and romantic modifications were made to the ruins of the castle. It was decided to create a staircase leading to the Panna tower. Work was begun in 1841–43, but was not completed.

Trosky Castle

The Renaissance chateau was built on sandstone at the point where a medieval castle built in the 14th century used to be. In 1804, a park in the English style was added; in 1859 the chateau was regothicized.
The western yard in front of the chateau is closed with a neo-Gothic church dedicated to St. Joseph. The chateau was built on two sandstone blocks that rise up to nearly 60 m above the valley of the Libuňka River. At present, the chateau is used as a hotel. Tourists can access the courtyard and the tower from which they can enjoy a wonderful view of the Hruboskalsko, Trosky and Kozákov.

Hrubá Skála Castle

It is considered one of our most beautiful rock castles. Its look is strongly influenced by the sandstone blocks in which a part of the castle was carved and another part was built in. Valečov Castle was built at the beginning of the 14th century. Some two centuries later, i.e. in the 16th century, a walled palace was added.
The part of the complex at the entrance presents archaeological findings from the collections of the museum in Mladá Boleslav. There is also the core part with the walled palace, rock chambers and corridors.
It is very interesting to visit the front yard with rock dwellings - there is a jail and a dungeon as well.

Valečov Castle

Valdštejn Castle (German: Waldstein) is an early Gothic fortress near Turnov, in the Czech Republic. It can be found in the cliff dwelling city of Hruboskalsko, in the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj).
The city was built on three sandstone cliffs in the second half of the thirteenth century by Counts of the Waldstein family. After 1420 the castle was occupied by the Hussites, then later by the robber barons. In 1621 the abandoned castle was bought back by the Waldsteins, whose most illustrious member was Albrecht von Wallenstein. During the peak of the Baroque period, they built a pilgrimage church, dedicated to John of Nepomuk, in 1722 on the ruins of the castle.

Valdštejn Castle

Drábské světničky is a ruin of a 13th-century rock castle in the Czech Republic. It is located about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) northeast of Mnichovo Hradiště on the ragged edge of a sandstone cliff high above surrounding landscape. The castle covers a group of seven sandstone rocks, connected with wooden bridges. It has been abandoned since the Hussite wars in the 15th century.

Drábské světničky Castle

The ruin of the rock castle that was named the Pařez - i.e. the Tree Stump, after its shape, is situated at the northwestern side of the Prachovské Skály.
Historic documents first mention the castle in 1403, when the owner was Jan of Pařez.
The rock on which the castle was built is divided with a narrow pass and a cleft in two parts. There was a rectangular tower with a gate at the western edge of the castle, accessible by means of a wooden bridge from the opposite rock. On the top of the rock you can still see imprints of fortifications and foundations of the rectangular tower.

Pařez Castle

In 1345 Cistercian monks from the monastery Hradiště based a farmyard where beer was produced in 16th century. The year 1564 is linked with the first mention of brewing beer in the brewery in Svijany. Brewing and pubs establishment increased financial income of a manor. In 1567 there was a division of property between Vartenberk sons and the place was named Svijany for the first time. In the same year building of Castle Svijany started and was finished after 11 years in 1578. 
After the death of the estate owner Jaroslav Vartenberk Jáchym Ondřej Šlik gained Svijany Castle and brewery. He let decorated the knights' hall in the west wing with the magnificent Renaissance paintings in the 20s of 17th century. They were then covered by a simple coating and were completely forgotten.
They were rediscovered during the reconstruction. The genuine paintings including painted coats of arms are now restored. In the eastern field was discovered a sign of a mother of Jáchym Ondřej Šlik Anne from Suneck. Towards the west follow signs of his wives, Anne of Kolowrat, Anne of Smiřice and Ursula from Oppersdorf. Jáchym Ondřej Šlik was the first of the 27 lords executed in 1621 on the Old Town Square and his remains were buried after a year.
After his death, in 1623 Albrecht of Valdštejn acquired the manor. Valdštejns were prolific businessmen and even the brewery prospered. The castle was rebuilt and structurally modified and the brewery was extended also. In 1820 the Svijany manor was bought by a Prince Karel Alain from Rohan family. During their reign the Castle became part of Sychrov manor and served as an administrative building and as accommodation of officials.

Svijany Chateau

The chateau is built on the site of a former fortress. Two-wing, single-storey building with a mansard roof. Valuable furnishings have been preserved in the interior - fire places, staircases, decorated ceilings etc. In 1911, Czech opera singer Ema Destinova visited the chateau.
